Title: 5 points
Post by: Flashheart on Saturday, April 13, 2013, 16:00:59
5 points will guarantee us a playoff place even if Walsall and Orient win both of their remaining games. I know people will say we don't have a chance if we do make the playoffs but all of the top teams have been very erratic this season. As long as we are in it, we have a chance.

KMAC.... Get it done.

Statistically that's true, but momentum, form and other factors suggest we won't make it. We've gone from a united club to a divided one that's never good for promotion.

You don't win the lottery if you don't but a ticket.

And who knows maybe, just maybe, between now and then KMAC can fix it. Either that or we could even go up on account of the others fucking things up.

On form since he took over: 9 points from a possible 27 with a GD of -3 = 3 points from our last 3 at -1 off our goal difference.

Not great but mathematically satisfying at least.  :)

(pretty much out of straws here).

Unfortunately to pick up 5 points, we need at least 1 win, which means a goal needs to be scored.

I just can't see it happening or even if it does, we can't seem to go a game without conceding.

It's pretty damn stupid that it's even still in our hands to be honest.

Scoring first is huge on Tuesday night. I just don't think the players have got the courage/character/belief - delete as necessary - to come from a goal behind at the moment!!!

To say I'm worried is an understatement! I'd hate this season to be wasted, and think IF we can get in the Play Offs you never know...However, we MUST win Tuesday night and that means scoring...someone needs to get their fucking scoring boots back on and fire up the team!

On paper, yes you would, but based on results this season and the teams we've dropped points against, maybe not.

Title: Re: 5 points
Post by: Uncletrunx on Saturday, April 13, 2013, 22:24:26
We've gone from a team that rarely let in goals to a team that lets in at least 1, often 2 per game.

We've also not scored in, what, 5 games, is it?

Both of these stats need to change if we're going to get 5 points from 3 matches. Otherwise I can see them being 0-1, 0-2 and 0-0.

Over the season we deserve to be where we are. However, the team from Christmas is not the team we have now.

As an added thought; if we somehow do go up, what's going to happen to us next season?

Title: Re: 5 points

The only glimmer of hope is that under KMAC we haven't actually lost at home. If we take 4 points from our next 2 it leaves the teams below having to win on the last day and rely on us losing. That's assuming they all win their games.

I reckon if we go up the board plan to sell asap, and hopefully the new owbers will have the capital to invest in the club for us to progress. If not, then back to square one.

The worry is if we don't go up, then what the hell are Jed and Co gonna do next season?

On paper you wouldn't...we accumulated 4 points in the reverse fixtures against these 3, when PdC was manager. Also 2 of them were away, and this season we've been better away.

4 points though might be enough to get in the PO's.

I've actually found the successful seasons a little dull. Oh it's great when you can tell premier league fans that Sam Parkin is going to be the next big thing, but your heart is really in the meaty debate on if we'd be doing better if King stopped playing David Duke at left back.

Sometimes strange things happen in football, and us winning another game this season, would certainly be up there.

The players really have a chance to make a statement on Tuesday...Crewe, will always give you a chance, but conversely can play you off the park....if they turn up, commit 100%, it's a game that can be won.  Anything less, will tell us that the players have mentally shut down and just want to sort out a new club or go on holiday.

having watched the game, I can't see how we are going to get another win this season, but I do think that we will actually limp over the line.  I think we will win one of the two home games and I think that we will get one more point, and I think that it will just be enough.  My hope then is that this may actually give us some momentum by managing to hang on..  But even I realise that's a load of old bollocks I think that we will quite comfortably get turned over in the semi final
