Title: Urban Myths
Post by: kerry red on Saturday, April 13, 2013, 08:33:15
Were there actually characters named 'Master Bates' and 'Seaman Staines' in the children's programme Captain Pugwash?

I watched it as a kid but if there were, those names obviously didn't mean thing to me at the time.

'All aboard the Skylark!'

Nope it was Master Mates and Barnabas but there was a sailor called Willy.
And it was 'cabin boy Tom', not 'Roger the cabin boy'.

Snopes is a great site for many things, not least for the aide of pedantry.  Read this, watch QI, then watch your friends disappear one by one.
