Quote On the injury front, Stefani Miglioranzi is still battling to recover from an ankle injury whilst Charlie Comyn-Platt trained fully on Friday and looks to be back in contention after a back injury. Seems as if Stef won't be fit, bugger  If this is the case, I'd stick Pook back in the middle and put Caton on the left to be honest. Or Nicolau. JUST NOT POOK! I wouldn't mind seeing Charlie coming in for Ifil either... Title: Injury news Post by: town ender on Monday, August 8, 2005, 14:45:28 i agree sonic, put pook in the centre since king says he's got alot of strentgh etc and stick caton out on the left in the first half and then bring on nicolau if needed. i think charlie should come in for ifil. making his debut he'll concentrate far more and show that if mistakes are made your place will be lost
Title: Injury news Post by: Spud on Monday, August 8, 2005, 15:27:11 Might aswell give Comyn-Platt a game as ive read some good reports about him during pre-season.
Title: Injury news Post by: Reg Smeeton on Monday, August 8, 2005, 15:31:38 Apparently Jenkins is injured, so it will mean Pook and Whalley in central and AN Other wide left.....seeing as how Caton is a striker, I'd imagine King will pick him there.
Title: Injury news Post by: McLovin on Monday, August 8, 2005, 15:41:55 It's quite sad that all these crazy assumptions of players being picked out of position are usually 100% accurate.
Title: Injury news Post by: DV on Monday, August 8, 2005, 16:21:53 I really hope Stef players, he is the only outfield player I have any faith in.....wait, I got it
Coymn-Platt to come to centre mid, Caton to go right back and Migz on the left....and Pook upfront PERFECT!!! Title: Injury news Post by: Ben Wah Balls on Monday, August 8, 2005, 16:51:16 Left wing is pretty much Caton's main position. After all he's played there for the youths, reserves and in pre-season so it is hardly out of position.
Title: Injury news Post by: alex on Monday, August 8, 2005, 17:17:20 why is nobody keen to play Nicolau? from what i read about him when we signed him i assumed he's be a first teamer as he sounded like a young player with alot of potential.
Title: Injury news Post by: Spud on Monday, August 8, 2005, 17:20:36 I think we should go with Nicolau to be honest, it cant be any worse than playing Pook on the left.
Title: Injury news Post by: DMR on Tuesday, August 9, 2005, 10:01:11 I'd go with Nicolau
I'd also drop that twat Collins Title: Injury news Post by: magicroundabout on Tuesday, August 9, 2005, 10:14:43 Talking of injuries. Sounds like were fucked for tonight.
Quote Crock Robins 9th August 2005 ANDY King will cast an envious eye at the Oldham bench this evening as the Town boss struggles to name a squad of 16 fit players. His troops have been dropping like flies ahead of the first home game of the season. Steve Jenkins is a major doubt with a calf injury, while Gareth Whalley is struggling after a knock to the chest during Saturday’s 2-0 loss at Barnsley. Stefani Miglioranzi is still not fit and Rory Fallon serves the last of a three-match suspension. Sean O’Hanlon is laid up with a viral problem and Rhys Evans has still not fully recovered from his knee complaint, but both may be forced to play due to the lack of experienced cover at King’s disposal. He said: “We’ve got loads of knocks Sean O’Hanlon, Steve Jenkins, Gareth Whalley. “Miglioranzi won’t play and Rhys Evans is still injured but we’ve got no choice with him. “He’s not fully fit but he’s probably going to have to play.” Teenage striker Andy Caton has been handed squad number 22, suggesting he will be called upon to bolster the bench. Ronnie Moore, King’s opposite number at Oldham, has injury problems of his own, with the likes of high-profile front men Luke Beckett and Chris Killen ruled out. But he has the luxury of a huge senior squad something King can only dream about. “They’ve made ten or 11 summer signings. That scares the life out of me,” said Town’s manager. “Ronnie Moore’s brought players in from everywhere. “But as I keep saying, everywhere we go they’ve got bigger squads than us. “I keep telling everyone that but no-one’s willing to listen. People think we’re making excuses but we’re not. “I looked at Oldham’s bench on Saturday and there’s Delroy Facey on there. “Chris Killen from Manchester City a New Zealand international not even playing. Luke Beckett’s another one. “Someone has given the club a boost in finances and allowed Ronnie to have a go and it may pay dividends, only time will tell.” King believes Oldham’s resources and Moore’s nous could make them a force to be reckoned with in League One this season. “Money doesn’t justify results but it certainly helps,” he added. “There certainly looks to be an improvement in Oldham at the start of this season from the end of last. They’ve built a squad and that gives them an opportunity. “If the manager’s good as I know Ronnie Moore is that gives them an opportunity to be successful. “He’s got a track record in this division and I know he’s a good manager. So the combination could be a good one.” Without any pre-season action at the County Ground, this evening’s game marks Town’s first home fixture for three months. King doesn’t feel this will be a factor in the outcome however. “It’s the first home game but it doesn’t make any difference,” he said. “Pre-season games are not the same as competitive games so it’s not an issue. The only issue is if we’ve got bodies to field a team.” Title: Injury news Post by: DMR on Tuesday, August 9, 2005, 10:36:05 we'll still win 8)
