Title: 4,600
Post by: ronnie21 on Wednesday, April 3, 2013, 12:06:29
According to the Adver that is the number of season tickets sold, pretty good number given the situation we find ourselves in. :smugfu:

Potentially 8 games away from the Championship?

4,600 STs equates to about £1.2m.

Interesting!

Does that account for kids and other concessions?

I'd imagine 4,600 falls short of that sum, when concessions are accounted for...we've only got one saleable asset...Foderingham. We're lucky in a sesnse that PdC wont be coming back for any of his old players, with the possible exception of Wes.

Nate dog. Arsenal have been watching him for donkey's.

I would have thought Storey was sellable and as Wolves were in for Collins so he would be as well.

KR hinting that the ST money is being used by the Board to fund the £1.2 mill required to cover the FL guarantee. Reeves suggests it might not be so much...ergo the Board will need a sale (like the Ritchie sale) to make ends meet.

Unfortunately we're not in a position of strength...as shown by all clubs being notified a while back that all players were for sale, and not having any one player besides Wes who's likely to attract a decent fee.

If as DoB suggests the present Board are looking to cut and run...we could be in for another brush with insolvency.

As a  would you care to paint an alternative picture of events of the last couple of months , and the immediate future. I'd be more than happy to take a positive view...it's just aside from being grateful that an immediate descent into Administration was avoided I can't see one.

I really fucking hate the phrase "happy clapper". It was bad enough when people used it to describe those who didn't want to "rock the boat" under Diamandis.

Fuck me Reg, have you contracted some terminal illness that you're not telling anyone about?

Explain how a club that a few weeks ago had no significant outstanding liabilities is suddenly haunted by the threat of insolvency.

I'm aware that our income doesn't cover our outgoings, but that puts us in the same boat as all but a handful of clubs in from League 1 upwards. Most of those also have historic debt.

And the season ticket money = the money vested to satisfy the League requirements rumour that someone's plucked out of their arse sounds like the biggest load of cobblers I've heard since the last load of old cobblers based on fuck all evidence that was posted on here.

A few weeks ago we were told, the club was close to Administration and a player had to be sold to see us through to April.

We've heard nothing from the Board about future funding...and been told by a normally reliable source, they're looking to get out already. Why?

Joking aside, the spidey sense is still tingling on this one. Could be early arthritis I suppose.

Likewise Sonic. Was expecting no less though. Think it's simply used by some to lazily describe those who actually have a bit of hope. I'm sure there's much worse to be used for anyone who dares to be positive.

Not really Reg (think Lumps has had a reasonable go FWIW). I just don't see why you have to continually be such a prophet of doom. I'm sure the feeling is mutual but thank god I haven't got to live with you. If your (half) empty glass philosophy carries through to the rest of your life I'd be suicidal within hours.

I mainly lurk but always wonder if reg actually enjoys the football anymore and is more akin to the flat earth advocates who just want to debate.I never see him commenting on games or on the occasions where we've had some great days recently, but aplenty on anything remotely negative.

Forum....even the Romans had men who would preach doom and negativity.

Because thats how they saw it....thats how Reg sees it and has the bollox to say it.

Gladly these days the preachers of facts and doom are more readily welcomed.....a lot better than being poisoned by claret or thrown in a pit of poisinous  snakes ::)

I would disagree in this context, as I doubt reg actually believes in all that he writes. More a defender of doom, even when it's not necessary. Maybe he has Euphobia.

No one believes all they write....it is a form of answers and questions....many things i write a few moments later my views are totally different.

Everything in life dosn't have to add up...or be the truth....every good forum has people who give the alternative view.

But i grasp what you are getting at :)

To be fair, Reg has seen a lot of crap over the years, more than most of us, and we never seem to be very far from a crisis, even the glory years were steeped in mega fuck ups, we've never properly recovered from. Caution is good where we're concerned.

Indeed, but at least enjoy the moments when they do come round. Otherwise, what's the point?

From the same site, this caught my eye (see attached)

I always think of town as a second tier club that has fallen on hard times but over the long term we're very much a third tier club.  I guess my incorrect impression of it has to do with when I was born/started following.

I think some website worked out where teams had finished throughout their history and created a huge league table.  I think we were about 5th in League One.

Our average this season is currently 8,546 if anyone is interested so on course for our best since 98/99 when we averaged 8,656.

same here, i remember relegation from the championship and thinking ever since then we have been trying to get at the very least where we belong. appears we are which is a bit depressing. impressed with the level of support we have been gaining through these 'tough times'

I think some website worked out where teams had finished throughout their history and created a huge league table.  I think we were about 5th in League One.

A few years ago I chucked all our league positions since the modern four tier system came in (the scrapping of div 3 north and south or whatever it was), and our average position (both median and mean - we're very average) was about 5th in the third tier. I think it was also the position we'd finished in most times too. We're a bit predictable.
