I'd be surprised if we made any. To happen I reckon the embargo would have to be gone now, so either they'll announce everything(lifted and signings)  about 3pm this afternoon in one hit. Or we'll get an embargo not lifted at 5pm.

"Town aim to come out of embargo"  is an awful lot different to "we are no longer in an embargo"!  Anybody could have written that Mr Warren, although I guess you are like us, just geting drip fed scraps of info.

KMac admitted on the Radio last night if the Embargo wasn't lifted by yesterday it would be very difficult make signings today because other clubs will be alerted to the availability of some of the ones he wants.

Not looking promising TBH even if Embargo is lifted in the next hour the chances of getting players here & signing contracts before 3pm & then submitted to the League by 5pm will be cutting it very fine............unless pre-deals have already been signed

I actually think the embargo not getting lifted at all today would be better than the scenario in which it's lifted just before the deadline with us not being able to register any players in time, a possibility long ago predicted by some on here (though only initially as a joke) and the scenario I now think will raise the most suspicion about the board and what they might have been able to do sooner.

Better to just accept our fate, blame the intransigence of the football league and get a siege mentality going for the run in.

A transfer embargo is a registration embargo.

There was never a chance of us lifting the embargo before the deadline (at least not in time to sign any players). As the FL won't confirm or deny an embargo, the Board can make up all the stories they want.

The deadline has not passed yet so there's still a chance.

Conspiracy theories ahoy but I don't think it's too much of a coincidence that the 'embargo' will be lifted just a touch too late. It seems very strange that its taken them exactly up till the day that the window slams shut to get it all sorted.

I don't know why, I don't know what their intentions are, whether they want to save money or whatever else, but it just doesn't make sense that it would take exactly 2 months to sort out and be wrapped up just hours too late to make any difference.

If you read the FL rules and regulations, the embargo is referred to throughout as a registration embargo - meaning that we can't register players. This is what prevented us from signing Pack et al at the start of February.

Essentially, I understand from the regs and rules that even if the embargo was lifted with an hour to go before the deadline, so long as we had the paperwork in order (which could surely be done in advance?) then we can register players before the windows SLAMS SHUT!!!!!!!!!!!

Even if it's already been lifted, it won't be announced till signings are completed. If they announced it had been lifted then failed to sign anyone then everyone would be calling for their heads. If it is lifted but we fail to sign anyone I imagine we'll get an update at 17.01 saying it's been lifted.

I for one won't be happy until I see a picture of the Embargo on the County Ground Pitch with a scarf above its head....

I don't think the Football League want us to go up, because we're 'cheated.' This is their way of getting back at us, the embargo will be lifted a few hours after the deadline.

Surely the deals have all been pre-agreed so if the embargo is lifted at say 4pm, all the relevant paperwork is ready.

If the FL do decide to lift the embargo you can safely say there won't be enough time for signings for the 5pm deadline unless any loan players we lined up have signed preliminary loan contracts & the paperwork is already sat with the FL waiting to be agreed along with the embargo lift

I genuinely don't believe the FL are trying to screw us over. Any delays are down to the complicated nature of our takeover (and everything else that's gone on in the last 6 weeks), and possibly the incompetence of our board.

Well, that's my view anyway...

But we haven't cheated, have we? We've paid off our outstanding payments to other clubs, negotiated a takeover while clearing the greatest portion of our debts without entering administration, and done everything they've requested of us pretty much honestly and above board, including voluntarily entering into an embargo when we exceeded 65%.

Having said that, I wouldn't be surprised if all the negative press we've had recently, however baseless and rooted in the ignorance of external sources, is having some sort of an effect on this process and the way the FL look upon us.

Does anyone know what the stated reason is for the FL's policy here? The fact they can't even confirm whether a club is/ isn't under an embargo whatever the details seems absurd. You'd think that information would prove pretty important to other teams who might otherwise end up wasting time agreeing in principle to a loan arrangement with a club they later find out it's impossible to do business with.

Accepting the FL are being fair with everyone (which you HAVE to assume they are), then the reason can only be down to our board and our situation... it's as simple as that. The board could not have met the requirements, or even possibly we aren't in an embargo anyway and they are saving some money? It's all possible... But the FL are not trying to stop us getting promoted by enforcing our tiny squad, they just aren't.

I would like to raise a glass to Jed and his cronies - I have had some doubts about them - but in retrospect I now think they have done well to come through all of this FL examination - at least so far - therefore I am giving them the thumbs up for now

We had some good players and bosses under shambolic boards remember. Something aint right with this lot. Doesn't feel right and I just cannot take to them.

Can I just set on record by way of counterbalance my personal opinion that if we go up he most definitely wins.*

In the circumstances promotion would be an outstanding achievement.

Today's activity has given some food for thought. It's obvious that the board have stretched themselves to succeed. Things could have gone easier and more efficient but us supporters will never know the finer details of the business. Our hearts are worn on our sleeves and we all want success. Disappointment is always laying in waiting for football fans and sadly it's the more prominent of emotions, but that's what makes success so beautiful. Today's happenings have been a major positive. The new loanees may not be the answer to guaranteed promotion but the fact we have moved a massive step forward and jed & co have sorted out the mess we were in, shows that we might be on the right path. Promotion is up to Kmac and the players, not the board.

It really could have gone tits up if Black didn't sell. Black wanted out fast and Admin was almost upon us because of that. If admin happened then the FL would have destroyed our club.

On your first sentence, go up and Kmac takes the credit IMHO. PDC showed his true colours and in all fairness under the situation since PDC left I'd argue it has been harder from then to the end than from the begining to PDC departure. Stay down and not to many folks I feel would denegrate Kmac. Feel let down and disapointed yes, certainly.

On your second sentence you could well be right but lets be honest you're just guessing! The same as anyone else. If you are rabidly convinced I'd be down the bookies if I were you before the start of the next season and put some cash on relegation.   

Given the low the fans had hit, if Macdonald does take us up Paolo will be long forgotten with most fans. But the gratitude won't last long if we don't do well in the division above.
