Oh and at half time it is Bosnia 2 Greece 0. Bosnia now in a very strong position to qualify for its first major competition. Bring on Brazil. :beers: Title: Re: FAO Dostoyevsky Post by: Bukkake Regiment on Friday, March 22, 2013, 20:55:04 As it stands 3 points clear of Greece in 2nd, and 5 points clear of Slovakia in 3rd. Already played Greece away too. Lovely.

I watched the game online with a great sense of foreboding which turned out to be well founded  The wall of noise at the Maksimir was immense but that will be as of nothing compared to the cauldron in Belgrade come September, where atonement is assured 8)
Here is a fascinating article which drew attention to the respective managers' long-standing mutual antipathy. They grew up 20km apart. Highly reccomended reading. Also shows how friends can become avowed enemies when even the flimsiest of ethnic differences are agitated. http://www.wsc.co.uk/forum-index/27-football/777492-a-history-of-hate-cro-vs-srb-22-mar-2013 Bosnia flying. Don't know if you'd call it reconciliation or just acceptance but it seems some are now moving in that direction. Wouldn't mind being in Belgrade to experience the "atonement" however

I'm going to Brazil with the family if Bosnia qualify. Bosnia will be the best represented team at the tournament, we've waited 20 odd years for the dream to come true. Recent away support includes approx 25k away at France, 15k at Belgium, 20k against Germany. Wouldn't surprise me if there were that number in Brazil! (If we make it). Oh and in 2 of the last 5 away games Bosnia's support has outnumbered the home fans, in Liechtenstein (hardly an achievement) and in Slovenia. Here is a fascinating article which drew attention to the respective managers' long-standing mutual antipathy. With an average life expectancy of less than 80yrs it seems a bit unlikely they'd be anyone who can remember a battle fought in the early 14th century. Slightly different to a conflict that only happened a decade or two ago. Title: Re: FAO Dostoyevsky Post by: leefer on Sunday, March 24, 2013, 19:43:45 Are you sure! Very impressive crowd scene too. Would I be right in thinking most of the Bosnian contingent at those matches you cited (France, Germany and Belgium) actually reside in those countries, ? Nonetheless, still very commendable and vocal following. Title: Re: FAO Dostoyevsky Post by: Bukkake Regiment on Tuesday, March 26, 2013, 02:00:12 A lot of it would be diaspora from the Western European countries but you do also get a large travelling contingent from Bosnia.
