Zaaboub was a player I loved and hated from game to game. I can't honestly recall him ever having a brilliant game or crap game, simply moments of genius and sheer idiocy.
Lecsinel was always a bit of a cult hero, I think part of the reason I recall him so fondly was because he remained a solid left-back/centre-back in the Premier League on an old FM save.
Junior Lewis is one of my favourite loanees, I've never seen someone who looked less natural on a football pitch yet did quite a decent job for us as I recall.

I take Maskell back, scored 20 in 64 at Brighton after departing us, nothing to sniff at! And 66 strikes in 141 at Hampton and Richmond.

Magera. I liked him, despite him never really doing anything for us. Did he even score a goal? I honestly can't remember...

Culverhouse.  He was class for us, which simply rammed home how awful most players are for Swindon because he looked average at Norwich in his prime.  We got to see him looking cultured in his twilight.

Cibocchi, Jonathan Smith, Timlin, Easton, Vincent, Jack Smith, Stephen Darby (controversial but I thought he was pretty average), McGovern, Sturrock, Sean Morrison (another most won't agree with probably), Andy Nicholas, Phil Smith, Peacock, Rhys Evans, Steve Jenkins, Grant Smith, Hewlett, Duke, Heywood, Griemink...

As stated earlier in this thread, I would put almost all Swindons players of now and past into an average category.

I would say that with the exception of Foderingham every one of this seasons squad can be classed as average for me.

The idea was that this thread was for players who weren't worthy of a mention in either thread but that you liked nevertheless. For instance, I quite liked Pericard despite his shitness.

Lander Gabilondo. He ghosted past players like they weren't there his first game, then disappeared into the depths of Paolo's training regime afterwards.

This was a shame - he obviously had ability

I liked Lander and don't recall any particularly poor performances from him,  he just didn't fit into Paolos system

The potential was definately there.

He ran the show up at Port Vale last season especially in the 1st half. Along with Magera they put on on 2 of the best individual performances of last season on that day.

Craig Easton, absolute lad who sent the scummers to the conference and always worked hard

David Mitchell?

Don't get me wrong...I thought he was amazing.  He made his debut just a couple of months after I started going as well.  But he only made the starting line up 23 times for us which automatically excludes him from anyone's all time Top Ten.  So I put him here on the grounds that he made an impression and that I liked him (per sonic's original post).

Oh, I wasn't making a comment about him falling foul of his lord and master, more that he rarely made appearances, as, as SY has said, he didn't fit into Paolo's system. I do remember him playing a bit crummy at Crawley away I think, or at least that's how it came across on the radio. Don't know why I remember that, but I do.

He got wayyy more appearances than easyjet though... I don't think easyjet even deserves a place in the crap players list.

You know that wasn't his fault right? He sat rotting in the reserves when we were desperate for a centre half because playing him in the first team would trigger a further payment to his previous club that we couldn't afford. Eventually we had to let hom go on a free.

Gareth Whalley....brilliant for Crewe and i was so pleased when we signed him.

Was awfull......dodgy players who became did well were Brian Wade,Chris Ramsey,and that dodgy Aussie Keeper who was about 4 ft 8......been a long day and cant remember his name.

I'm not sure I've agreed with any suggestions so far. Someone said Chris Hay, he scored 15 goals by christmas in 97/98. If that's average then fuck knows what planet I watch football on.

Steve the tramp Jenkins, bit mouldy round the edges when he arrived but a solid if unspectacular pro. 

We used to sing "where's, where's, where's, where's Whalley?" every time he played.

Chris Hay looked like a Scottish version of Jimmy Greaves for the first few months of his time with us,only problem was it was short lived.
I think average is a fair description of his record here. 

Difficult to define average isn't it? All depends on the level of the team at the time i'd say.
Take our current side. Those who are regarded as the key current players wouldnt have got near previous sides so would put them below average for that time.

Maskell, Mitchell, Jones and Fat Mac would have looked like world beaters in pretty much every Swindon side for the last 15 years.

Fat Jack would be superb in this team. Maskell would probably be on between 25 and 30 already this season.

I recon even Dave Mitchell would have got 20+ goals already for us this season as well.
