Title: Average 10 Town players Post by: sonicyouth on Wednesday, March 13, 2013, 21:55:38 Those who aren't quite bad or good enough to make it into either of the other threads but that you had a soft spot for nevertheless...
Zaaboub was a player I loved and hated from game to game. I can't honestly recall him ever having a brilliant game or crap game, simply moments of genius and sheer idiocy. Lecsinel was always a bit of a cult hero, I think part of the reason I recall him so fondly was because he remained a solid left-back/centre-back in the Premier League on an old FM save. Junior Lewis is one of my favourite loanees, I've never seen someone who looked less natural on a football pitch yet did quite a decent job for us as I recall. End of thread Title: Re: Average 10 Town players Post by: sonicyouth on Wednesday, March 13, 2013, 21:59:13 I hated Vincent every time he played.
I missed him every time he didn't play. Title: Re: Average 10 Town players Post by: Baggins on Wednesday, March 13, 2013, 22:03:07 Christian Roberts.

Sol Davis. Reeeeeeeeves Agree with Zaaboub Title: Re: Average 10 Town players Post by: Ardiles on Wednesday, March 13, 2013, 22:49:00 Wash your mouth out. Why?! The deal was... Those who aren't quite bad or good enough to make it into either of the other threads but that you had a soft spot for nevertheless... And I thought he fit the bill very well! Title: Re: Average 10 Town players Post by: Nemo on Wednesday, March 13, 2013, 23:13:53 It may be the fact that I was about 7-8 when he was here, but I was convinced Wayne Allison was the best player on earth.

Title: Re: Average 10 Town players Post by: Dostoyevsky on Wednesday, March 13, 2013, 23:43:09 Steve Finney and Craig Maskell. Purple streak followed by an enduring brown stain of nothingness. Fell off the face of the earth
Title: Re: Average 10 Town players Post by: Dostoyevsky on Wednesday, March 13, 2013, 23:48:33 I take Maskell back, scored 20 in 64 at Brighton after departing us, nothing to sniff at! And 66 strikes in 141 at Hampton and Richmond.
Title: Re: Average 10 Town players Post by: Honkytonk on Wednesday, March 13, 2013, 23:58:28 Magera. I liked him, despite him never really doing anything for us. Did he even score a goal? I honestly can't remember...
Title: Re: Average 10 Town players Post by: RobertT on Thursday, March 14, 2013, 00:13:30 Culverhouse. He was class for us, which simply rammed home how awful most players are for Swindon because he looked average at Norwich in his prime. We got to see him looking cultured in his twilight.
Title: Re: Average 10 Town players Post by: Bukkake Regiment on Thursday, March 14, 2013, 01:19:07 Cibocchi, Jonathan Smith, Timlin, Easton, Vincent, Jack Smith, Stephen Darby (controversial but I thought he was pretty average), McGovern, Sturrock, Sean Morrison (another most won't agree with probably), Andy Nicholas, Phil Smith, Peacock, Rhys Evans, Steve Jenkins, Grant Smith, Hewlett, Duke, Heywood, Griemink...

Title: Re: Average 10 Town players Post by: Peter Venkman on Thursday, March 14, 2013, 08:02:03 As stated earlier in this thread, I would put almost all Swindons players of now and past into an average category.
I would say that with the exception of Foderingham every one of this seasons squad can be classed as average for me. Title: Re: Average 10 Town players Post by: sonicyouth on Thursday, March 14, 2013, 08:31:43 As stated earlier in this thread, I would put almost all Swindons players of now and past into an average category. The idea was that this thread was for players who weren't worthy of a mention in either thread but that you liked nevertheless. For instance, I quite liked Pericard despite his shitness. I would say that with the exception of Foderingham every one of this seasons squad can be classed as average for me. Paul Allen Title: Re: Average 10 Town players Post by: Honkytonk on Thursday, March 14, 2013, 10:54:00 Lander Gabilondo. He ghosted past players like they weren't there his first game, then disappeared into the depths of Paolo's training regime afterwards.
Title: Re: Average 10 Town players Post by: Bewster on Thursday, March 14, 2013, 11:17:45 Lander Gabilondo. He ghosted past players like they weren't there his first game, then disappeared into the depths of Paolo's training regime afterwards. This was a shame - he obviously had ability Title: Re: Re: Average 10 Town players Post by: sonicyouth on Thursday, March 14, 2013, 11:18:20 I liked Lander and don't recall any particularly poor performances from him, he just didn't fit into Paolos system
Title: Re: Average 10 Town players Post by: Abrahammer on Thursday, March 14, 2013, 11:28:17 The potential was definately there.
He ran the show up at Port Vale last season especially in the 1st half. Along with Magera they put on on 2 of the best individual performances of last season on that day. Gabilondo got a medal at the end of the season so he obviously didn't do much wrong behind-the-scenes. Ross McClaren Steve Mildenhall Steve Cowe As Dosty said - Steve Finney and Craig Maskell David Mitchell? Title: Re: Average 10 Town players Post by: Ardiles on Thursday, March 14, 2013, 18:06:37 You take that back right now! Don't get me wrong...I thought he was amazing. He made his debut just a couple of months after I started going as well. But he only made the starting line up 23 times for us which automatically excludes him from anyone's all time Top Ten. So I put him here on the grounds that he made an impression and that I liked him (per sonic's original post). Title: Re: Average 10 Town players Post by: Honkytonk on Thursday, March 14, 2013, 18:29:28 Gabilondo got a medal at the end of the season so he obviously didn't do much wrong behind-the-scenes. Oh, I wasn't making a comment about him falling foul of his lord and master, more that he rarely made appearances, as, as SY has said, he didn't fit into Paolo's system. I do remember him playing a bit crummy at Crawley away I think, or at least that's how it came across on the radio. Don't know why I remember that, but I do. He got wayyy more appearances than easyjet though... I don't think easyjet even deserves a place in the crap players list. So I put him here on the grounds that he made an impression and that I liked him (per sonic's original post). You know that wasn't his fault right? He sat rotting in the reserves when we were desperate for a centre half because playing him in the first team would trigger a further payment to his previous club that we couldn't afford. Eventually we had to let hom go on a free. Title: Re: Average 10 Town players Post by: Ardiles on Thursday, March 14, 2013, 19:13:18 Never knew that.

Title: Re: Average 10 Town players Post by: leefer on Thursday, March 14, 2013, 20:18:45 Gareth Whalley....brilliant for Crewe and i was so pleased when we signed him.
Was awfull......dodgy players who became did well were Brian Wade,Chris Ramsey, and that dodgy Aussie Keeper who was about 4 ft 8......been a long day and cant remember his name. Title: Re: Average 10 Town players Post by: flammableBen on Thursday, March 14, 2013, 20:54:21 I'm not sure I've agreed with any suggestions so far. Title: Re: Average 10 Town players Post by: Benzel on Thursday, March 14, 2013, 22:14:59 Gareth Whalley....brilliant for Crewe and i was so pleased when we signed him. Title: Re: Average 10 Town players Post by: animalwilliams on Friday, March 15, 2013, 14:10:47 I'm not sure I've agreed with any suggestions so far. Someone said Chris Hay, he scored 15 goals by christmas in 97/98. If that's average then fuck knows what planet I watch football on. Chris Hay looked like a Scottish version of Jimmy Greaves for the first few months of his time with us,only problem was it was short lived.I think average is a fair description of his record here. Title: Re: Average 10 Town players Post by: Arriba on Sunday, March 17, 2013, 15:17:00 Difficult to define average isn't it? All depends on the level of the team at the time i'd say.
Take our current side. Those who are regarded as the key current players wouldnt have got near previous sides so would put them below average for that time. Title: Re: Average 10 Town players Post by: dagrumpymunki on Sunday, March 17, 2013, 15:31:47 Tom 'Jonah' Jones Ross McClaren Steve Mildenhall Steve Cowe As Dosty said - Steve Finney and Craig Maskell David Mitchell? Maskell, Mitchell, Jones and Fat Mac would have looked like world beaters in pretty much every Swindon side for the last 15 years. Title: Re: Average 10 Town players Post by: chalkies_shorts on Sunday, March 17, 2013, 16:11:34 Fat Jack would be superb in this team. Maskell would probably be on between 25 and 30 already this season.
