Title: BBC News: Paolo Di Canio says he is ready for the Premier League Post by: News Monkey on Tuesday, March 12, 2013, 17:00:04 Paolo Di Canio says he is ready for the Premier League
Paolo Di Canio, the bookmakers' favourite for the Reading job, tells BBC Sport he is ready to be a Premier League manager. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/21753944 Title: Re: BBC News: Paolo Di Canio says he is ready for the Premier League Post by: jayohaitchenn on Tuesday, March 12, 2013, 17:03:13 "many arrogant players!"
hahahahahhaha Title: Re: BBC News: Paolo Di Canio says he is ready for the Premier League Post by: Summerof69 on Tuesday, March 12, 2013, 17:06:57 From his column :
"I was always determined to bring success and even cleaned snow from the pitch when we had a game the next day to ensure it would go ahead... So did another 200 Town fans helped clear the snow. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/21750537 Title: Re: BBC News: Paolo Di Canio says he is ready for the Premier League Post by: horlock07 on Tuesday, March 12, 2013, 17:08:43 I believe in football terminology this is what is known as a 'come and get me plea'.
Is it possible to say 'I' so many times in an interview and refer to himself in the third person. Bless Title: Re: BBC News: Paolo Di Canio says he is ready for the Premier League Post by: StfcRusty on Tuesday, March 12, 2013, 17:42:25 Good luck to him. He may not be the humblest of guys but he backed up his hubris with action and results. I loved the attitude-change he instilled around the club and I admire his desire to be the best he can be.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion and all that but some town fans have pretty short memories. Title: Re: BBC News: Paolo Di Canio says he is ready for the Premier League Post by: Costanza on Tuesday, March 12, 2013, 17:43:46 Hang on - is this actually happening?
Nice to see 'Paolo Di Canio's BBC Sport' helping him out though :) Title: Re: BBC News: Paolo Di Canio says he is ready for the Premier League Post by: horlock07 on Tuesday, March 12, 2013, 18:02:39 Everyone is entitled to their opinion and all that but some town fans have pretty short memories. Agreed although in terms of 'short mammories' mine relates to the period November 12 - February 13 when i reached the conclusion that his ego meant that the town were well down his priorities, and I didn't really enjoy my team being managed by a petulant 15 year old girl. Before that i would have agreed with the adoration spouted on here. Anyway looks like PdC is moving on, I await the BBC documentary with interest. Title: Re: BBC News: Paolo Di Canio says he is ready for the Premier League Post by: Costanza on Tuesday, March 12, 2013, 18:08:54 It's your opinion but I hate the whole 'fans with short memories' thing. We're all grateful but he's yesterdays news now.
Steve McMahon guided Town to a league championship within a higher division and he's histories biggest monster....... ;) Title: Re: BBC News: Paolo Di Canio says he is ready for the Premier League Post by: dagrumpymunki on Tuesday, March 12, 2013, 18:27:32 I like the way the BBC are getting value from my licence fee by stretching pretty much the same set of quotes to fill two stories, saying largely the same thing, "I'm the best there is, all the success is down to me, the players were nothing without me, gimmee a job" into two different articles on the same day.
Even the papers tend to wait a couple of days before the recycle to fill column inches. Having both of them on the same page at the same time just looks mental. Title: Re: BBC News: Paolo Di Canio says he is ready for the Premier League Post by: StfcRusty on Tuesday, March 12, 2013, 18:31:26 I think my point re short memories was that the gratitude you refer to seems to have been quickly forgotten by many judging by some regular negative comments.
McMahon took a squad which had had several players who had recently played in the Prem and got us promotion. He also got us relegated in the first place. McMahon never built up a rapport with the fans. I don't think you can ever compare the two and it'll be sad if that happens over time. Totally agree that PDC is stfc history ... so maybe we should stop starting threads about him, which will reduce the PDC sniping and subsequent defending etc. Title: Re: BBC News: Paolo Di Canio says he is ready for the Premier League Post by: dagrumpymunki on Tuesday, March 12, 2013, 18:37:45 .. so maybe we should stop starting threads about him, which will reduce the PDC sniping and subsequent defending etc. You know that the news monkey's not a person right? Title: Re: BBC News: Paolo Di Canio says he is ready for the Premier League Post by: Costanza on Tuesday, March 12, 2013, 18:40:06 The McMahon comment was tongue and cheek.

A piss poor argument if you ask me. Look at Bournemouth, Groves had as big a budget as Howe yet they were shit when he was in charge. Does having a decent budget help, of course it does but it's not a guarantee of success Title: Re: BBC News: Paolo Di Canio says he is ready for the Premier League Post by: DV on Tuesday, March 12, 2013, 19:24:51 With the budget he had compared to others in the league it would have been poor if he hadn't. ...and what budgets do all the other league one clubs have then? Can't we agree that : - Yes he did a great job - Yes he brought the club back to life - Yes he had a dodgy transfer policy - Yes he was a little mental but passionate - Yes it was brilliant fun - Yes the way it ended left a bitter taste - Yes it was like having a stunning bird that gave you filthy mind blowing sex but you both know you are punching above your weight and that she will leave you if you don't pander to her every whim and then she'll probably leave you anyway for someone in the military with a big cock and six pack. and be done with it. Its done, its over, lets move on and probably downwards. Title: Re: BBC News: Paolo Di Canio says he is ready for the Premier League Post by: guy66 on Wednesday, March 13, 2013, 09:13:11 FFS !! Title: Re: BBC News: Paolo Di Canio says he is ready for the Premier League Post by: DV on Wednesday, March 13, 2013, 13:54:21 DV wouldn't come back on a regular basis even if we did.
I'm also sure DV is the only person in the history of the world who stopped renewing his season ticket and started attending less games. Title: Re: BBC News: Paolo Di Canio says he is ready for the Premier League Post by: Bukkake Regiment on Wednesday, March 13, 2013, 13:56:07 This isn't a dig DV but why?
Title: Re: BBC News: Paolo Di Canio says he is ready for the Premier League Post by: DV on Wednesday, March 13, 2013, 14:10:28 A few reasons. I won't go into immense detail.
Paul Hart and our relegation season for starters. I can take being shit, I've see enough of it. However going down without a fight did my fucking head in. It wasn't just the team, the club as a whole, selling our players the first bid we got when we should have been keeping hold of them. Waiting too long to sack Wilson. Then hiring a clueless moron and through out that season most of the clubs media was about the bloody play offs!!! If the club aren't even going to take it seriously or put some fight into it why should I spends hundreds of £s traveling the arse end of the country and back for nothing. We just rolled over and died. I have been enjoying football less over the last few years. Yes I fully understand football clubs are business's and have to be tried to run like so but now there seems to be so much focus on balance sheets, profit, loss, accounts and what not. It feels less like a sport. Now a days it's about surviving rather than winning. Oldham (as far as I know) are ok financially but they've done pretty much fuck all for years. They stay mid table season after season, how shit would that be as a fan? Whilst I'm still just about young enough I've taken to playing Saturday football. Yeah I'm shit and the team I play for is shit but at least it's a competitive sport at that level still, it's a good laugh at times. ....added to the fact the mong count at the CG seems to have increased over the last few years.
