Good luck to him. He may not be the humblest of guys but he backed up his hubris with action and results. I loved the attitude-change he instilled around the club and I admire his desire to be the best he can be.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion and all that but some town fans have pretty short memories.

Agreed although in terms of 'short mammories' mine relates to the period November 12 - February 13 when i reached the conclusion that his ego meant that the town were well down his priorities, and I didn't really enjoy my team being managed by a petulant 15 year old girl. Before that i would have agreed with the adoration spouted on here.

Anyway looks like PdC is moving on, I await the BBC documentary with interest.

I like the way the BBC are getting value from my licence fee by stretching pretty much the same set of quotes to fill two stories, saying largely the same thing, "I'm the best there is, all the success is down to me, the players were nothing without me, gimmee a job" into two different articles on the same day.

Even the papers tend to wait a couple of days before the recycle to fill column inches. Having both of them on the same page at the same time just looks mental.

I think my point re short memories was that the gratitude you refer to seems to have been quickly forgotten by many judging by some regular negative comments.

McMahon took a squad which had had several players who had recently played in the Prem and got us promotion. He also got us relegated in the first place. McMahon never built up a rapport with the fans. I don't think you can ever compare the two and it'll be sad if that happens over time.

Totally agree that PDC is stfc history ... so maybe we should stop starting threads about him, which will reduce the PDC sniping and subsequent defending etc.

DV's probably not going to go to football next season unless we get promoted.

DV wouldn't come back on a regular basis even if we did.

I'm also sure DV is the only person in the history of the world who stopped renewing his season ticket and started attending less games.

A few reasons. I won't go into immense detail.

Paul Hart and our relegation season for starters. I can take being shit, I've see enough of it. However going down without a fight did my fucking head in. It wasn't just the team, the club as a whole, selling our players the first bid we got when we should have been keeping hold of them. Waiting too long to sack Wilson. Then hiring a clueless moron and through out that season most of the clubs media was about the bloody play offs!!! If the club aren't even going to take it seriously or put some fight into it why should I spends hundreds of £s traveling the arse end of the country and back for nothing. We just rolled over and died.

I have been enjoying football less over the last few years. Yes I fully understand football clubs are business's and have to be tried to run like so but now there seems to be so much focus on balance sheets, profit, loss, accounts and what not. It feels less like a sport. Now a days it's about surviving rather than winning. Oldham (as far as I know) are ok financially but they've done pretty much fuck all for years. They stay mid table season after season, how shit would that be as a fan?

Whilst I'm still just about young enough I've taken to playing Saturday football. Yeah I'm shit and the team I play for is shit but at least it's a competitive sport at that level still, it's a good laugh at times.
