Title: Re: Pitch Nominated for Pitch of the Year!! Post by: Ardiles on Thursday, March 7, 2013, 13:42:58 At this stage of the season, it's very obvious just how much better our pitch is than most of the others. Nomination is well deserved.
Not sure we need any Ameriturf, to tell the truth. Title: Re: Pitch Nominated for Pitch of the Year!! Post by: suttonred on Thursday, March 7, 2013, 15:57:13 Must be a shoe in to win, as every other one i've witnessed looks as though it's had the top gear team driving round it. I cant remember most pitches being this bad for years.

Title: Re: Pitch Nominated for Pitch of the Year!! Post by: TheDukeOfBanbury on Thursday, March 7, 2013, 16:11:12 ....and in Div 2 the award should go to Oxford for hosting the South Midlands Ploughing Championship whilst still playing football and rugby. Congratulations Oxford.

One things for sure is ours was miles ahead of Old Trafford over the winter period. We're very lucky with the groundstaff we have/ resources and effort the club put into this area. Title: Re: Pitch Nominated for Pitch of the Year!! Post by: leefer on Thursday, March 7, 2013, 17:46:47 Brilliant pitch....Tranmere had the worse i have seen seen though i was really suprised on how decent the stadium was.
Title: Re: Pitch Nominated for Pitch of the Year!! Post by: TheMajorSTFC on Thursday, March 7, 2013, 17:50:32 Great stuff, best pitch in the league by far! I was shocked at how bad Coventry's was, especially for a new stadium!
Title: Re: Re: Pitch Nominated for Pitch of the Year!! Post by: Frigby Daser on Thursday, March 7, 2013, 18:30:20 As Sutton says, it's far and away the worst year for pitches in recent memory. The norm seems to be playing away on cow fields. In the past few years we've had to put up with it at Rovers but that's it really. Fantastic effort from the ground staff. I hope the new lot continue to invest as heavily in it as we currently do.

Post by: OrangeTransits on Thursday, March 7, 2013, 23:26:24 Problem with Large Stadia pitches a lot of the time is the Stadia itself shadows the grass ans subsequently not enough sun gets to the playing surface.
The Swindon pitch is perfectly positioned to get lots of Sun. Title: Re: Pitch Nominated for Pitch of the Year!! Post by: RobertT on Thursday, March 7, 2013, 23:29:35 apart from a 2 metre strip along the Shrivvy Rd side in years gone by.
