Title: Dave Allen - 'Mystery' Backer
Post by: Dr Pierre Chang on Wednesday, February 27, 2013, 21:59:52
Ex Sheffield Wednesday chairman who sold up to Mandaric - has links to Jed and was with him on Tuesday night in the Legends pre match.

In a recent interview he said he wanted a return to football - could this be one of the backers?

I think we've got every bad egg in football lurking in the shadows.

I liked his irreverent jokes about the Catholic Church and the way he smoked continually throughout his set

What are his links with Jed?

I think CHRIS is plucking names out of a hat at random. It was Paul Duffen a minute ago on (one of the many) other thread.

But he has sources.

I sadly don't.

I've got no reason to believe or disbelieve him but if people are plucking names out of a hat at random just to cause alarm, get a few responses and have a little bit of a giggle...then this forum really has become a waste of time.

"goodnight & godbless you which ever one you support" or "goodnight and which ever god you support may he go with you"

perm anyone from three.

Do the Mail journalists not realise we've already been taken over/ sold?

We've certainly got an insight as Swindon fans over the last month or two into how little research actually gets put into these tabloid stories.

In this case I get the feeling a tans-esque rogue edit of Prince Alwaleed's Wikipedia page, still leftover from the period when wild rumours and conjecture were swirling around about prospective owners, is probably responsible, which would be an accurate insight into The Mail's research methods I suspect.

Do you think they care? It's not a paper renowned for it's dedication to the highest standards of truth or accuracy. Wouldn't wipe my arse on it if they printed it on soft pink paper and perforated every page for easy tear-off use.

"Al Waleed Bin Talal has recently invested in the Europes 2nd largest sewage treatment facility. The site known as the Kassam Stadium, will be fully operational once the fourth side has been erected. Hopefully, that will be the last of the bad smells emanating from up the A420."

Apart from the grammar.

That link just has the Mail saying sorry.  Fair enough, I suppose, but how it's relevant to us I don't know.

What the actual fuck? I assume I'll facepalm myself at the answer but where did they make that up from? Has Tans been on Wikipedia.

Confused....

Before Jed was outed as the front runner, someone on Twitter put forward Al Waleed Bin Talal as a bit of a joke from what I gather.

Then it would appear that somebody, quite childishly, immediately took to Wikipedia. Presumably the Mail have picked up on this Wikipedia fallacy.

Reminds me of the time when the papers were plasted with a rumour that Liverpool were going to buy a player called Didier Baptiste from Monaco. He actually signed for Harchester United, from Sky's fictional football drama Dream Team.
