Not that I disagree with you, purely for the point as raised by Arriba and others that having two managers and a captain on the pitch would intuitively lend itself to confusion, and having someone controlling things from the dugout would seem a necessity. This is my suspicion. Did Di Canios falling out with Bodin filter through to the players view of him? Or could he just not be fucked.
