If Town stick with Miller/Ward (or 'Wallerd') then I would hope that they bring in an old head to help out.

There's quite a lot of confidence in these two so I hope they get it right.

It would be a massive mistake to keep on Ward and Miller until the end of the season. We need experience to get us over the finishing line, and managing the team and playing would be too much for them.

I hope Jed isn't influenced by tonight's result as we'll have to be unbelievably shit to lose to Bury at home.

I think elsewhere yesterday (it may have been the Pat Sharp bloke interview) one of them said (and I'm paraphrasing here) "Look we've got two games in 3 days, no time to appoint someone so we just don't want to undermine the two guys who are in charge right now, we can talk about it after Tues". Which is fair enough - let's get tonight's game won first, Ward and Miller need to feel they have backing from the men at the top, not be looking over their shoulders.

...which is fine.  But what bothers me is that, in spite of the two home games, no one at the press conference yesterday even gave the impression that any thought had even been given to the matter.  It wasn't even 'Well, we wouldn't want to undermine Darren and Tommy over the next few days, but rest assured I have been making contact with various parties, sounding people out and getting the ball rolling.'  They gave the impression, basically, that the club had landed in their lap and that they were now scratching their heads and wondering what to do next (or, more likely, waiting for instructions.)

This has been a poor start.  Yesterday was an opportunity to at least give a hint of the direction that they wanted to take the Club in.  Key questions about their strategy - incl the type of manager they want to appoint, what we do with the ground etc - of course we're not going to get detail at this stage, but a flavour would have been good.  I remain completely unconvinced that any of this lot have the experience, ideas or qualifications to take the Club to the next level.

Oh I don't disagree Ardiles, I'm very worried by pretty much everything I've heard (and not heard) so far. I was just trying to be fair :)

I agree with you Ardiles, not the best initial press conference, but I hope they will build upon it.

It did indeed sound a bit like "oh fuck we got a club where did that come from?".

Probably doing them a diservice but thats the general impression I got from the press conference.

Poor old Ardiles has been worried since seeing McCrory's Twitter profile  ;)

All valid concerns, hopefully each one will be addressed in time.

I know.  I just hope they up their game pretty quickly.  I know I've been particularly critical and that most of our other fans are going to be more inclined to give them a little more time to prove themselves.  But we're ¾ of the way through the season, so the honeymoon period will not be a long one.  In fact, they are probably going to be OK until we get our first dodgy result - which could be (but I hope not) as early as this evening.  They need to up their game.

I won't deny that the twitter thing set the alarm bells ringing.  But that was just a first impression.  It's what he does now (or doesn't do) that really matters.  The press conference yesterday did nothing to dispell the initial impression that we've probably taken a step backwards in terms of the calibre of the people at the top.

I am trying to stay positive about it all and see where it pans out before jumping to probably the wrong conclusions.

I think we will know much more of their intent after the meeting with MillWard tomorrow, this is a massive decision for them to take and they need to grab it by the balls and take us forward.

I hope they choose wisely.

Fabio Cannavaro and Filippo Inzaghi should have their UEFA Pro licences from Coverciano by the summer, perhaps the new owners are waiting on one of them.

Personally I would rather they took their time over choosing a new manager.  When you look at what's available out there, ie Andy Thorne, Ian Dowie & all the other names the adver have linked they hardly inspire us do they?

The appointment for me is crucial to get right, it's unfortunate it's come at a time where we are in the top 7 but I don't want any old manager just bought in because of our league position on a whim we might get promoted.

Get your foot down Jed, as much as Tommy and Darren have stepped in, we need someone in the manager's role to solely concentrate on managing and the players to concentrate on playing.

If the funds are similar to before why are two players in charge of a threadbare squad?
It's clear to anyone that the current team situation needs addressing quickly. The top of the table is tighter than a ducks arse. A couple of ropey results could be damaging. Every day no spent chasing a new boss is a day wasted.

Probably because it's not a matter of funding, so much as timing. Two games in 3 days means you back the guys in situ rather than talking about who you might get to replace them. Or alternately, if you want to take the bleaker view from yesterday's somewhat underprepared press conference, they just haven't thought about it much.

I went for Chinese with Devlin, Power and Sullivan, but I'd have had them in charge of the club.  Just because they associated with a drunk happy clappy nutcase, didn't mean they couldn't run a football club.

I'm not at liberty to divulge this information during the current phase of what remains a very fluid situation. I will, however, do my best to keep fans updated as to the situation vis a vis pondlife behinds in an open and honest fashion.

Would we be right to assume that you have duck's arses behind you, but at this stage they do not want to reveal their identity!

They are private, family ducks and it would be wrong of me to discuss the exact location of their arses, whether in front of or behind me. I can reveal though that their arses are very firmly behind them, as is the way it should be.

I think this is the problem when the same questions get asked in different ways and to different people.

My understanding (from what Ward and Miller have stated in interviews) was that the players asked for them to take temporary charge because it was already a very transient situation with a lot of upheavel. They felt Paolo had prepared them thoroughly enough.

That said, I think there's some merit in the new Board having discussions behind closed doors. I'm sure they have already and are continuing to do so. The trouble is you can't leak any information out as it will only get back to the media and piss the players off. What if the Board rush a decision, get it wrong and then be known forever as the guys who didn't get us to the Championship that year when everything went wrong at the end anyway. It might be a bit of a catch 22 situation.

Personally, I'd hope for a manager to be appointed asap.

I would be suprised if they didn't have a short list of managers ready to talk to but also think because Ward and miller seem happy to continue nothing will change unless results take a turn for the worse. A win tonight will I guess prove the choice to be the right one. If we win tonight but still bring in a new man for Saturday and then lose, will that also be seen as the wrong move? I would rather Ward and Miller were just concentrating on playing, its the lack of Loan players coming in that worries me more.

This is the worrying bit. So far, this lot just seem to want to say the right thing to keep everyone happy. I'd actually respect it if they came out and said "No we won't have Paolo back because he was on too big a deal and we were uncomfortable with the way agents' fees were all going one way" or "We know the players want to sort things out among them, but we are determined to get promoted and don't believe that our two senior pros can play to their best while they're doing two jobs. We also need a manager who will be here to the end of the season and beyond to be making the decisions on who they want to bring in on loan."

What do you think? Do I get on the board? I don't have much spare cash, if that helps.
