Seems butcher it done well at Inverness CT but is disillusioned by poor crowds.

His assistant is Maurice Malpas.

Butcher has done an outstanding job at ICT.  I know there are awlays questions about the standard of Scottish football, but, on a very limited budget, to take ICT from an OK first div club to challenging for Europe, and giving Celtic and the other historic clubs - Hibs, Hearts, Motherwell a real fright along the way is no mean achievement.  He has won over a very doubtful (and very small!) band of supporters in a big way.  If our future is with tighter purse strings, we could do far worse.  As for the Malpas conundrum, people say that he is actually a good coach, just not so good at being in charge.  I have no idea what the relationship is between the two, and whether ICT would try to hold on to Malpas.

I wouldn't rule Butcher out because of Malpas, but i don't know hardly anything about his management record

Would be a very good appointment , has worked miracles up here with ICT , and is very well thought of.

I always thought Butcher had a poor reputation as a manager, not sure where but recall he was a bit of a laughing stock.

Butcher has a feckin' awful managerial record, ICT apart. Ask Brentford fans.

Phil Brown? You're joking? If you've heard him on Fighting Talk, you'll know he keeps on getting turned down by the most tinpot of clubs. For a reason.

Butcher may well have a 'feckin awful' record before ICT, but maybe his record in Scotland demonstrates that he has learnt, matured whatever.  Do we discount everyone who has not been 100% successful since their first appointment?  A pretty small field if so!  As for Malpas...well, I somehow doubt he would want to come back anyway!

If Malpas came back as manager, the mong level would be >9001. As cone gatherer, I wouldn't care.

Me thinks expectations as to the calibre of the next manager are way too high in some quarters.  High quality managers with spotless records are either employed or not interesting in a League 1 team.

As a follower of jock football for my sins i can honestly say that Butcher along with Stuart McCall have been the best managers up there for the past couple of seasons.  ICT are a tiny club in terms of resources even by SPL standards and he has worked a near miracle to get them where they are.

Whether he can do a job for us is debateable, for every successful managerial export from the SPL there is are equal numbers of failures.

I find talk of Butcher, Brown et al just so depressing. It's like being chatted up by a bunch of fat mingers after you've just been dumped by your supermodel girlfriend. 

Personally think that my supermodel girlfriend has worn me out with her high maintenance hissy fitting.  Yes it was beautiful and the sex was great but after that the tantrums and was starting to outweigh the joy of those fleeting moments.

So Im ready to go back into the market and my sights are set a little lower.  Perhaps a front magazine page 3 type girl.  Still fun but less psychodrama.  Im intrigued by that JFH, but dont really want to lower myself to Doris from behind the bar at the dog and duck.  You know the one, her with the orange tan who looks good but only after a night on the lash. One must be much more selective in football matters. Nobody judges you for slinging one up a trotter every now and then.
