Title: Banner at the Di Canio residence
Post by: PetsWinPrizes on Sunday, February 3, 2013, 15:13:54
My parents live in Ramsbury, and just left me a message saying someone has put a 'Paolo, you're a legend, please don't go'
banner on PDCs house. The work of anyone here?

Incidentally great support from our end last night, I've still got no voice.

They could have at least knocked on his door and told him that!

My first thought that is was a bit "disfigured driveway" as well.

Only in so far as they can spell you're correctly....so it wasn't JedUPVC.

To you or I maybe, to a passionate football manager with a love of the limelight, maybe not.

You've got to remember Ramsbury is a small place, and everyone knows where everyone lives, plus the Italian supercars on the drive are a bit of a clue.

I've only learned this via voicemail, so I'm not in a position to confirm that the banner creator would pass muster with Lynne Truss.

It would be pretty impossible for Di Canio to keep a low profile in Ramsbury I have to say.

So what cars has he got then?

2 rusty ice cream vans I reckon.

Don't know as

a) I know nothing about cars, and

b) the rest of his team are always there, so not sure which are his.

I'll ask my parents once my voice returns.

Exactly, as someone pointed out yesterday about the fans singing for him to stay it will have massaged his ego even more.

*Wouldn't dream of doing it myself

Totally - I doubt Paolo would mind though.

I think the last thing he would want is fans turning up at his house and erecting banners outside it.

It's one banner. He has an ego the size of Belgium (not a criticism but true nonetheless). I'm pretty sure he will have loved it.

isnt it actually jeremy wray's house ?

Title: Re: Banner at the Di Canio residence
Post by: PetsWinPrizes on Sunday, February 3, 2013, 20:25:27
Ok, I have sought more info, it is tied on to railings on the front of the property, which are on the road, so no trespass laws have been broken, it's on a bed sheet about 5ft by 4, and as far as my dad can remember it's spelt correctly.

He did say he'll check the grammar and spelling if it's still there, but I suspect it won't be.

As far as the property goes, it was Fittons house, I assume he still owns it and rents it to the club or direct to PDC.

Such a cringeworthy act deserves photographic evidence. Surely the Adver would use the pic?

I am surprised an official keep Paolo at Swindon campaign has not yet started, I think the Adver would be the perfect mouthpiece.

I am surprised an official keep Paolo at Swindon campaign has not yet started, I think the Adver would be the perfect mouthpiece.

Why make it official?  The strength of the vocal backing he received at Crawley spoke volumes.  That's what would have mattered to Paolo.  Those tears?  I think the backing he had from our fans had a part in that.

I think, given current sensitivities, whacking a picture of the managers house on the internet might not be the best idea.
