Title: physio - Sports rehab - Injuries Post by: fatbasher on Thursday, January 31, 2013, 21:17:38 Was not sure how to head this one.
I need to seek advice for some problems with my knees which are painful and have a swelling below the knee cap. I am sure is has something to do with shrunken muscles and tendons. However, when this flared up the doc just prescribed some anti infamitary cream and sent me packing. Wasted my time really. Can anyone put me in the direction of someone who will not fucking fleece me but help me sort this out? After being messed around by the NHS with a neck problem he spotted straight away a disc problem and recommended a scan which confirmed the problem. Results of scan taken back to doctor and operation was carried out a few weeks later. This all happened after months of physio and pain killers as Dr's refused to send her for a scan.

I have a fucked knee, don't hold up much hope of the quack having enough specialist knowledge to solve it.. Can't remember Russell recommended a charity that have a machine and do them privately. Will find out for you tomorrow as the wife is asleep. Would pay a visit to Russell first though to get a proper diagnosis as it could be something that is easily fixed??? Not sure what else to do. Tried rest (months), tried ignoring it, its not going away. I'm well overweight but addressing it steadily (1 stone down, more to go).. Know her personally and she is very nice and good at what she does. http://www.back2fitnesssportstherapy.co.uk/back2fitness/Wiltshire_Sports_Injury_Clinic.html (http://www.back2fitnesssportstherapy.co.uk/back2fitness/Wiltshire_Sports_Injury_Clinic.html) Title: Re: physio - Sports rehab - Injuries Post by: STFCforeigner on Friday, February 1, 2013, 00:41:46 How expensive is a scan. I did my cruciate ligament last year, and got scanned a month or so later. Also some damage to the meniscus.. Currently waiting to have surgery on it Title: Re: physio - Sports rehab - Injuries Post by: Nomoreheroes on Friday, February 1, 2013, 06:19:30 Ta. Not sure what else to do. Could be that you need insoles in your shoes.Rather than asking your doctor for a scan, ask him/her to refer you to an NHS physio. They will do things like tape your knees and check the way that you walk before referring you on as necessary. They might give you some exercises to do too that will strengthen muscles around your knees. I know what you are going through! I've been referred to physio twice in my life and both times what was a major issue turned out to be pretty minor in the grand scheme and was resolved a lot more quickly than I thought. For example, the last time I kept going to the doctor with back pain/tight hamstrings. I was convinced it was an issue with the legs, pelvis or weak lower back. Turns out it was actually a problem in the upper back, around the shoulder blades. My hamstrings weren't tight in themselves, just appeared to be due to the upper back. Physios are brilliant at working out the problem and fixing it. Title: Re: physio - Sports rehab - Injuries Post by: Bewster on Friday, February 1, 2013, 11:57:17 Personal experience? Yes, years of experience. Thoroughly recommended - has helped a lot of my family and friends as well. Title: Re: physio - Sports rehab - Injuries Post by: ronnie21 on Friday, February 1, 2013, 12:05:28 NHS physio is a joke, you need it soonest and your doc tells you there is a three to four month waiting list!! Ask your doc to refer you to the hydrotherapy pool, they were a great help to me when I had hip problems. Showed you the exercises you need to do in the warm water. When I did my back at work I was referred to a lady physio on Cricklade Road, about 100 metres up from the Moonies. She sorted that out for me and is quite fit herself - she runs marathons!!! Company paid for it so no idea on costs.

Title: Re: physio - Sports rehab - Injuries Post by: Simon Pieman on Friday, February 1, 2013, 12:53:18 I was quoted a 4 month wait for physio, got the appointment in 4 weeks. Had one appointment and didn't need to go back. Total cost to me = nil.
Scans will cost several hundred quid, but then you'll need to wait for the appointment with a specialist anyway. Do you have private healthcare through work Batch? Title: Re: physio - Sports rehab - Injuries Post by: Batch on Friday, February 1, 2013, 12:54:09 Do you have private healthcare through work Batch? Sadly not, every other job I've had it and never used it. Draw back is that he is Camberley....ont know if you are a man of the road... Message me and i will set you up if you want. I am a man of the road and cover Camberley among other places. I will as likely or not try the geezer recommened earlier mainly because I live in Swindon and can book an early/late appointment without buggering up my day. I will come back to you if this turns out unsatisfactory though, so thank you. Title: Re: physio - Sports rehab - Injuries Post by: THE FLASH on Monday, February 4, 2013, 18:36:25 Just let me know.
