Title: Marlon Pack
Post by: Langers on Thursday, January 31, 2013, 11:04:29
In talks with Cheltenham, the deal would involve a swap deal with Rooney.

Thoughts?

I'd say we're getting the better end of that swap.

Thought he looked good last season, not kept track of what he's been like this season though but seeing as Cheltenham are doing quite well, I suppose it's fair to assume he's having another good season.

If the deal goes through and Rooney goes the other way, we're incredibly light on the wings.

Linked with Danny Green from Charlton - a right winger who played regularly for them last season.

He was very good last season. With Hollands out it could be shrewd business..

What am I thinking....we've probably sold Ferry. Panic, panic panic.

Marlon Pack + Danny Green + Rooney out + no outgoings would keep me pretty happy today after panicking about a fire-sale of all our best players last night. Not going to get ahead of myself on the optimism front though after yesterday. Won't relax until the window slams shut.

All the sounds coming out from the adver seem to suggest Di Canio isn't going to jump ship at least . Looking forward to the 1pm interview. I reckon he's going to be calm and collected, and say Ritchie was a necessary sacrifice for the survival of the team in this transition period for the club.

Were there ever any sounds yesterday to suggest he would?

The sounds were seemingly just via the wild opinions of a couple on here

Its always good to have Navarro tucked away somewhere, he's really our only out and out defensive midfielder. I sooner bin off Miller to keep Hollands.

Hollands is out for 6 weeks though isn't he? Seems crazy to want to get rid of a fit midfielder to keep an injured one on loan.

I was thinking long term, say at the end of the season. If the choice had to be made, I don't think Miller could cut it in CCC anymore and Hollands would be a good investment for the future.

Have watched Marlon Pack down here several times against Torquay. He has always been their stand out player. He looked a class act in the play off semi and scored a cracker of a free kick. If we sign him I for one will be well pleased. :)

I would not like to think that, however the fact that he is out for six weeks may well swing it, as far Navarro - have we seen enough of him.  Hollands on the other hand looked to have settled down well and does support the forwards.  Interestingly we were linked with Pack last season and with O'Kane from Torquay.  Opinion was divided then, but O'Kane is having a good season with 'Muff.

Oh come on Arriba. I know it's the Swindon way but lets let him pull a shirt on for us first.

Well - he'll need to actually sign first but you know what i mean.

I know quite a few Cheltenham fans and by all accounts he's been poor this season. Quite complacent as he's one of their big name players, he doesn't get dropped after bad performances whereas others do.

Let's hope we're signing 11/12 Pack and not 12/13 Pack.

With Luke Rooney likely loaned and Roberts looking like one of the 5 year olds that comes on for a game at half time getting a winger in is the priority for me atm.

Not one I expected and wouldn't have thought it's where we most need reinforcements if we could get Hollands back when he's fit.
View of Pack from Chelt ST holder
- he was good last season but has been disappointing this
- not too surprised he's going as out of contract at end of season and they have someone else (Carter) who plays his role
- he's good in a 3-man central midfield but never performed well in a 4-4-2
- definitely not championship standard.

Overall, fairly underwhelmed with this at the moment but maybe Paolo can help him progress.

TBF to any new signing....we have all pretty much heard about most players before they sign for us a little good and more often than not bad.

I heard from a Pompey fan that Ritchie tried hard and ran around a lot but was never good enough for the Championship, he has been proved wrong I feel.

With good coaching and better players around them almost any player has the potential to become better.

I heard from a few Yeovil fans that Williams was rubbish, has pace but cant finish to save his life, I wouldnt swap him for Ritchie even TBH.
