Title: Easiest Question in the world
Post by: janaage on Thursday, August 4, 2005, 10:31:34
Who is this Barnsley fan describing (from 606), clue it's not David Duke

"When he jumps to head a ball he somehow ends up a foot lower than he would have been if he just stood there, with the ball at his feet he looks like bambi on ice and his shooting is pretty awfull"

Second clue, it's not Bambi.

Is it that big guy that will score 15+ goals for us this season?

I know its meant to be Rory Fallon .. but I think he wins most balls in the air .. is good on the ground for a big man and just lacks one thing .. confidence ... all it needs is for Kingy to keep telling him hes brilliant and he will be!

Fallon for NZ!!

That'll be him, I remember reading that very fans very same comment when we signed him.

Is it a recent post?

Must be the same person as I recall it word for word from a Barnsley fan when doing a bit of Fallon based research when we signed him.

Must have an axe to grind.

Is it the ex-oxford freak who was about 8 foot tall, had poor touch, couldn't shoot to save his life and got stick from us when turbo scored in our 2 nil win at the manor. Jason Lee was it?

Indeed Daz, there were a couple of Barnsley fans that said that at the time I believe, shame he wont be playing on Saturday.

On holiday i bumped into a few Barnsley fans who were adamant that they had 'stolen' our best player in Howard.  Oh how i laughed...

Imagine how bad they thought Fallon was and multiply it by 3, give him till Christmas and they'll be saying that about him.

Jan you need to get over your fallon hatred.  He was shite til the last month of last season, fair enough. But when hes up for it (which he is now) theres not many defenders in league 1 that can handle his power and aggression.

If he played badly here for another 5 years I'd still love him for THAT goal

What if Duke or Hewlett had scored THAT goal?  I would still have hated them.

I don;t hate the bloke, but I think people may be getting carried away with his "work rate".  He was still quite poor at the end of last season.

However new season new start...

I think only Oolit would have been bad enough to not love had he scored THAT goal.  I'm so happy hes not here to fuck up our midfield anymore

That's a pretty harsh description of Fallon, he's quite strong in the air and his strength allows him to control the ball on his chest and bring it down even under pressure, occasionally even controlling it and letting loose an incredble shot.

In fact, show that Barnsley fan the goal he scored against City - that alone proves all those points wrong.

Personally I always had a soft spot for Hewlett because of the goal he scored against Notts County in 03/04, it was a pretty special goal on a special day.

Good edit, PM.

I don't think you can really use the City goal as a typical example.  There is no way he could recreate that goal again.  It was a one off fluke, some might say.

Bloody good goal still though.
