Title: Car Wash/Valeting Post by: Chubbs on Wednesday, January 23, 2013, 13:25:57 Does anyone know of a good place in swindon to get cars washed/valeted.
Please don't suggest sainsburys or asda carparks, I've see how they wash (if you can call it that) cars. There is a place on wescott place (Swift i think) anyone used them? Whenever i drive past they allways have high end getting washed. Title: Re: Car Wash/Valeting Post by: LucienSanchez on Wednesday, January 23, 2013, 13:28:00 I always use the one in Asda West Swindon car park, I find it great! So bearing that in mind, I can't help!
Title: Re: Car Wash/Valeting Post by: Sippo on Wednesday, January 23, 2013, 13:29:58 I use the guys over in Stratton by the garden centre. Yes they are afghan, but they do a superb job. Fresh water every time.
If you want a proper detail, then I also have recommendations but these are in the region of hundreds of pounds - but they do a superb job. All depends what you are after really. All depends what you are after really. For now, its just a wash, but i may be looking at the occasional detail. Fresh water each time is a good start, something you dont get from sainsburys :-) Lucien, Is that the one by the main enterance? Yep, nothing wrong with the one at Asda West. Title: Re: Car Wash/Valeting Post by: Chubbs on Wednesday, January 23, 2013, 13:35:48 Ma
Yep, nothing wrong with the one at Asda West. OK, maybe i was wrong about asda carpark, but sainsburys is still a no noTitle: Re: Car Wash/Valeting Post by: Simon Pieman on Wednesday, January 23, 2013, 13:38:28 MaOK, maybe i was wrong about asda carpark, but sainsburys is still a no no The one in Asda use a jetwash. I've only ever got the outside cleaned mind, but I've seen high end cars getting done there. Title: Re: Car Wash/Valeting Post by: Sippo on Wednesday, January 23, 2013, 13:38:53 The problem with 'car washes' are that they remove the wax and sometimes paintwork from your car. If I ever use them, I always make sure I polish then wax afterwards.
I would invest in some good wax. This is what I use. http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/wax/collinite-476s-super-doublecoat-auto-wax/prod_207.html The beading is superb. Title: Re: Car Wash/Valeting Post by: Chubbs on Wednesday, January 23, 2013, 13:43:21 Do it yourself. Fresh water-dirty used rags=minor scratches The problem i have with doing it myself is i dont currently have the luxury of a drive way, that and i dont have the patience :-) Come the summer that attitude might change. Sippo, thats why im prepared to pay a little extra for someone to do it properly, the worse thing i see if people using either dirty water or dirty sponges/cloths etc. Title: Re: Car Wash/Valeting Post by: Barry Scott on Wednesday, January 23, 2013, 13:46:16 I've heard the one just off Manchester Road, around the back of what used to be George Whites, by Swindon Rendezvous, is great. You stay sat in the car and many people clean it at once.
It was recommended by someone who'd just bought an Aston Martin, so I trust it to be good. £5 I think was told. Fresh water each time is a good start, something you dont get from sainsburys :-) Lucien, Is that the one by the main enterance? Yeah, by the big entrance... not Shaw Ridge Leisure Park side. I get them to do inside and out for £12, and they vacuum everything, boot included... they always do a decent job of the wheels and tyres too (and mine are usually caked in brake dust!) Title: Re: Car Wash/Valeting Post by: dave_bambers_right_sock on Wednesday, January 23, 2013, 14:17:20 I've used the one on Wescott place quite a few times with no problems. I saw a nice merc and and Aston being cleaned and thought if it's good enough for them I'll give it a go, £5 for the wash £10 for wash and clean up inside, they do get quite busy at times.

Problem solved.
Title: Re: Car Wash/Valeting Post by: Iffy's Onion Bhaji on Wednesday, January 23, 2013, 17:56:33 I like using the one on Gypsy Lane as you do it all yourself. It's about £4 in total to get enough time to do your pressure wash and rinse. If you want the inside done as well it's not so great but they do have vaccums there which normally cost no more than £2 by the time you've hoovered your car out.
Title: Re: Car Wash/Valeting Post by: Simon Pieman on Tuesday, April 2, 2013, 15:18:14 Went to Asda west today and paid for the £12 inside and out clean. Very good and saved me about 2 hours.

I spent a good 4 hours on Sunday cleaning and polishing mine. Its bloody hard work but feels great when your finished and you step back and look at her gleaming. Pisses me off when the look only lasts few days :-)Title: Re: Car Wash/Valeting Post by: Batch on Wednesday, April 3, 2013, 08:58:08 My car gets washed once a year if it needs it or not.

A car doesn't have to be shit not to care about it...it's just a car, as long as the engine works what's to worry about. Title: Re: Car Wash/Valeting Post by: 4D on Wednesday, April 3, 2013, 13:19:06 I have two cars to wash and do them at home. Lazy sods.

There's also a wash and valet set up at Next Generation who do a good job for £10. I've had it done a couple of times when the kids have been in their swimming lesson. Apparently the best one is opposite BMW on the way to Greenbridge. There always seems to be a fair amount of people sitting on the wall waiting, but I'd rather tie it in with shopping or swimming instead of hovering around waiting. I need to go to Argos at Greenbridge, so I might leave it there and walk round this afternoon.
