I think they'll make him go this time, turning down 3 moves would be seen as rebellious and I don't think the club would stand for it.

Think he might feel that he's still good enough for L1..

At his age I don't think he can afford to be picky, especially as he's never established himself in this division.

Why should he go simply because the club want him to? He was given an 18 month contract.

Or he's trying to make sure that possibly the last or maybe second to last move of his career is a good one and one that suits him and his family. He might not fit into the club's plans any more but it's a bit harsh to describe a bloke looking out for his own career once he does move on as "having a bit of a strop on".
