Title: AFC Bournemouth v Swindon Town FC Official Matchday Thread
Post by: Shaw Rosso on Friday, January 11, 2013, 23:57:54
The opponent: AFC Bournemouth

There is something I don’t like about 3 sided grounds, can’t quite put my finger on it. January is well and truly in full swing with matt Ritchie off to Wolves/Charlton/Today’s Opposition etc.  An offer not deemed worthwhile by our board came in for Aden Flint from Bradford, in all honesty I’m glad he is still a Town player and I ask, would we find anything better than Aden Flint with zero money? I am not so sure. Another highlight of the week has to be the ex-STFC brigade dumping Oxford out of the JPT, well done Messrs Benyon, Timlin, Corr, Sturrock, and anyone I haven’t mentioned. I liked Luggy, despite his own personal problems he gives nothing but 100% in to everything he does, and I wish him and his Swindon Town reserves well this season.

I have had a few trips down to Bournemouth over the years, one that stands out for me was a few years back when Barry Corr scored an absolute corker, I’m sure we had the blue and white shirts on that day. One thing I would say to anyone driving down to Bournemouth who has not been before, parking can be a nightmare, especially when you are leaving. Try street parking just down the road from the ground and you will get away considerably quicker.

Bournemouth is the largest town in the county of Dorset, with some 175’000 residents. Perhaps a town best known for rest homes, lawn bowls and beige slacks, back in 2008, Bournemouth was officially the happiest place in the UK, according to a survey. The poll of 16,000 people discovered 82% of Bournemouth residents said they were happy. The least happy place was Walsall in the Midlands, with only 49%. Bournemouth's mayor put the town's success down to its "abundant shops and buzzing nightlife."  Boscombe FC were formed around 1890, although there is no evidence to prove this, it is generally accepted as 1890. To make the club more representative of the district, the name was changed to Bournemouth and Boscombe Athletic Football Club in 1923. During the same year the club was elected to the Football League. The first league match was in Swindon on 25 August 1923, Bournemouth lost 3–1. The first league game at Dean Court was also against Swindon, Bournemouth gained their first league point with a goalless draw.

Bournemouth has a few famous sons and daughters, such as the writer of Jerusalem, Hubert Parry, all round entertainer, Max Bygraves and TV personality, Amanda Holden. It is said J.R.R. Tolkien used to holiday in Bournemouth every year for 30 years, staying in the same hotel room, and eventually retired to the area.

What are they saying about us? –

Jimmy Quinn
“In my opinion, the only thing that will hold back Swindon is Di Canio. With him, it is not so much about the players, it is all about him. You don’t really know how to take him and if a bigger club were to come in, I think he would jump ship. He is very much his own man and very much of his own mind. He is a showman and it is all about shock treatment with him. That’s not most peoples’ style but it seems to be his. Eddie and Jason seem to want to be there as long as they can and have got a helluva team. Out of the two of them, I would back Bournemouth all day long. (11/01/13 Bournemouth Echo) The same Eddie Howe that jumped ship to Burnley?  Cheers Jimmy.

“Yep, if we win 9-0, we'll go above them in the table”.

Bournemouth Last 6 –  WWWWWD  (Bournemouth are currently 7th on 42 points)

The Threat – Is Grabban in or out? I have no idea. They have a few strikers down at Bournemouth, including Brett Pitman, Matt Tubbs and Lee Barnard. Grabban currently leads the goalscoring for Bournemouth with 10 goals.

A Warm Welcome Too – Eddie Howe. I’m sure I remember him being introduced to us on the pitch at The County Ground and his glittering career spanned all of 0 games.

The irrelevant stats – Bournemouth are on fire, unbeaten in 16 games, spanning back to October 2nd when they suffered an away defeat to Crawley. The Cherries have scored 25 goals at home this season and have conceded 11. If their form had not been so abysmal earlier in the season there is a good chance they could well have been a couple of points clear at the top by now.

Head to Head – We have met 101 times down the years, we have won 36 games, drawn 26 games and lost on 39 occasions.

The Odds –  Bournemouth 6/4   Draw 12/5 Town 2/1 (Bet 365).  Think its the first time in a while where we haven’t started as favourites.  For the optimists among us, 2-0 Swindon is a decent 14/1 at Sporting bet and a scoreline we have shared with Bournemouth on several occasions in recent times is 2-2, which is also 14/1 with most outlets. Bet 365 are offering 7/1 on Andy Williams to score the 1st goal which may well be worth a shout of his second half of season improved form is to be believed!

The Son Says – After nearly predicting last week’s slaughtering of the Jocks, he has made his decision for today’s result based on the score of his game of football at playtime at school today. His team won 4-0, so that is his prediction. 0-4 if you like.  A truly scientific method, and 100/1

The Prediction – All good things must come to an end, including Bournemouth’s rich vein of form. I am plumping for a 3-1 victory for us, with goals from Andy Williams, and a quick fire double from Chris Martin to open his account and begin a long and fruitful relationship with the Town faithful. Bournemouth are going to feel the full force of our Red and White tidal wave, I can feel it in my waters.

And Finally –  In Bournemouth on 12th July 1910, Rolls Royce co-founder Charles Rolls became the first British man to be killed in an aircraft crash. He was a true aviation pioneer, having crossed the channel by balloon in 1906, and made the first two-way crossing of those same waters in an airplane only a month before his fatal crash . Rolls made more than 200 flights in his Wright Flyer, made under license by Short Bros.

Injured apparently, which led to him retiring at the age of 29.

Yes, we were in the perfect position to see it where they herd us away in the corner.

We filled out the corner of the main stand for that game, forcing Bournemouth to open the stand behind the goal. Was stood right behind it as Barry's pearler screamed into the top corner.

My 3 year old has predicted 3-0 to us, which would be great.  A point would keep me happy though.  That said, Paolo has a track record of having us raise our game and getting wins against other promotion contenders (which Jimmy Quinn completely overlooked yesterday in his incisive 'er, yeah, right, Eddie's a lovely bloke, so they'll win' interview).

Last season we pulled ahead with doubles against most of the other top sides.  There's something in that, I think.  Hardly a guarantee of a win, especially against an accomplished side like Bournemouth, but the signs are promising.

Jimmy Quinn can suck my fucking cock. I don't care if he was a good player for us, all I know his as is some old twat who played for us a bit when we were really in the shit and then did a shit job as manager here and at Bournemouth. Talk about Paolo to remain relevant you old shit bag.

I think it'll be a 2-2 draw today, the game swinging in both teams favour. Us taking an early lead only to peg them back after some substitutional magic from PDC.

Bit of a wibbly wobbly feeling about today, but I'm going to go for a 2-1 victory for the Town, Martin and Collins in the first 45, and then some south coast cunt in the 92nd minute, leading to a nailbiting finale.

I hope it'll be an interesting match for those going, but I fear it might be a bit of a stalemate and lead to some boring football.

Also fuck you Jimmy Quinn, you're not welcome back.

Let's not kid ourselves, they're a good team in the midst of a cracking run since Howe came back and a draw would be a good result.

Having said that if we can play like we did against Tranmere in the first half we will turn them over, as we would any other team in this division.

Personally think it will be 1-1.

This one comment on their forum really stuck out for me.

"Don't think this will be as tough as Brentford. Brentford turned up wanting to stop us playing, they pressed and made it hard for us. We did the same and it was something of a stalemate, yet we still should have won.

Swindon will be a lot more offensive I'd have thought. Any team that has tried to come onto us and attack has been ripped apart, it's the way we've been under Eddie in both spells. Peterborough for example, we ripped them apart 5-1 and no one expected that, not even us.

With a big crowd behind the boys, I'm confident. I'd back us to succeed if Swindon come out there all guns blazing. A point for them is better than a point would be for us at this stage, a win is crucial to continue the momentum and a few goals to stop the momentarily lapse would be ideal.

Looking forward to it."

I think we could all say the same about us this season.

Could be cracker today.

i really would like to win this one, arrogant cunts. For the last few transfer windows they seem to think that Matt Ritchie is their's, then when we refuse to sell for the paltry pittence they offer us its a case of "well, we never wanted him anyway".

Tear them a fucking new one Town, wipe the floor with them, pick out every bit of flesh from their bones and shove it right up the cranky commie owners wifes minge, sideways. When the final whistle blows Paolo shall raise the red and white scarf aloft, and the reminence of Bournemouth fans can stand and watch the emergence of the champions elect.

We might attack but I think comparing us to a team that plays with no one at the back (Peterborough) is a bit silly. I think they've overlooked the goals against column and have focused solely on our ability to score.

Had a butchers at their forum; they're quite an arrogant bunch. I hope we play well and the opposition, as has become the norm in the eyes of their supporters, fail to turn up/have an off day/play the worst they've ever seen.

In recent years, we've always had a few in their end for the simple reason that demand exceeded supply in the away section.  My last trip to Bournemouth was like this for precisely that reason.  Bit of a bind not being able to celebrate our goals properly, but better than not being there at all.

My Hereford-supporting mate came with me into the Town End for the match that ended 3-3 last season.

I thought I'd have to tie him to the fucking floor when the third Hereford goal went in. I have never seen someone disregard their own personal safety to celebrate a goal quite so much.

My worst (best?) away end game was the 4-3 win at Twerton Park in 1992.  We went 4-1 up at one point...and the locals around me (and my Rovers supporting mate) were practically in tears.  And then they got 2 late goals.  Very nervy final few minutes.  It was just after the back pass rule had been introduced, and I'm sure one of their goals was following a free kick after  Fraser had handled a back pass in his area.

A great open game. Will be very tough but can see us sneaking it. Also hope Martin starts and scores.

Yeah it was. Paul Hardyman booted the ball into the net from the freekick about 3 yards out

So you'd drop the in-form Collins or Williams for someone who's yet to score? I'd hope Paolo doesn't drop either if them for Martin.

From what I've seen with Martin he's the best support striker we have, in a game like this where we won't make as many chances as we usually do at home, I think it would be useful to start him.

Waterlogged pitch isn't it?

Must be a possibility of ours being in doubt due to the heavy rain in the south.

There's always that. I do have a feeling Ferry won't be starting though, although saying that he was taken off to save him in the last game wasn't he?

In which case he's bound to start, along with Hollands, who's also bound to score against his former club. Cue Paolo to start with Navarro and Miller in the middle!

Nope, but we don't want to put the brakes on the momentum we build in the last 4 games.

Possibly, but as Batch said, the Miller and Hollands partnership hasn't worked so far.  Imo, they're too similar.  I would have started Ferry petsonally, he's been pretty fundamental in the last few games.

Would have taken the point before the game.. we can't always win.. stealing 1 point in the end, in these conditions is great. Doncaster and Tranmere are flying high at the moment, but there are so many games to play..  Just need to be consistent, keep making points and will be fine

Very happy Paolo today. Great praise for the support. Sounds like another signing in the next few days perhaps.

It's a completely different sort of confidence they can take from today than the past few weeks - we hung in there by the sounds of it, and got something out of a game that we could quite easily have missed out entirely.

I'll be enjoying my few ales this evening.

PDC:
- Fantastic point
- Bournemouth one of the best sides in league at the moment
- Proud at the way we came back at them
- Need to carry on and keep going
- Didn't give up
- Don't think pitch suited us and PDC was a bit worried about how we would be able to perform
- Disappointed that we had a couple of chances and thought we had wasted the opportunity to get something from the game
- Two situations in the box in first half that we should have scored. Need to be more clinical
- We played too 'tippy tappy' (A phrase he hasn't used for a couple of weeks!)
- 1-1 at Bournemouth is a fantastic result
- This is a good group with quality and determination
- Williams goal: Difficult to take as he had lots of time to muck it up
- Highlighted Chris Martins endeavour to force James into a mistake
- Half time referee talked to assistant manager to say that he was thinking of abandoning. wanted to wait 5 mins. Ball didn't bounce properly in some places, but this is England, and PDC has played on much worst pitches
- Travelling 1400 supporters were very enthusiastic. Thanked them for amazing support
- Hope that we can go to next game with adrenaline and maintain position
- 1-1 is fair in some ways. If this was a boxing match we would have won on points
- On the squad: Shame if we lose some players. PDC is really positive that something can happen in the next few days.
- Now there is a group and a team of quality. We have to hope that we can extend Martin and Hollands to the end of the season as they help bring out the best in the rest of the team.
- PDC knows he won't get help from the board (Not a criticism, just a fact that there is no more money) but we are working on a way to keep H & M.
- PDC reiterated he wants to do this. It would be a 'shame' to lose these two players as the club has worked hard to get where it is and in the grand scheme of things, it wouldn't take much to keep them.

Williams:
- Very critical of the pitch which was heavy, difficult to play on and didn't result in a good game
- Good point
- Talked about 1/2 time and potential for abandonment
- Thought we had time to score a winner
- Anyone can beat anyone in this league
- Need to make sure we don't slip up in next match
- James Collins miss: Disappointed. Not sure what happened. Could blame the pitch

Fodderingham
- Would have taken a point before game
-  We had a few chances then a defensive mistake
- Could have cleared it earlier. Could have punched it.
- Have been a spectator in several games. Pleased to have been able to make a couple of saves
- Grinding out result says much about team. Wouldn't have done that earlier in the year
- Great to shake hands with James at the end of the game, who was an idol when growing up

Anyway today in an away game against a very very good side we managed to fight back in difficult conditions. I'm optimist we can do well.. Paolo also has turned 180 degres.. from pessimist beyond reasoning to perennial happy, always praising the team maturity.. Who knows if he is playing mind games or he just sees a different team now

Right now we r in a good position to be in the playoffs, but looks like we just clicked recently, with incredible results and performances. We were very inconsistent thru the whole season, but now we look really solid.. Also Di Canio, as I said earlier is changing dramatically his view on the team(or at least he is changing the way he is speaking about the team).

I personally believe it is possibile to go up automatically, because momentum is good, defense solid, moral is up..   but overall playoffs wouldn't be bad considering Swindon comes from League 2.. but if it's playoffs it's all about the journey u take to get there.. I'm a fatalist.. it's all about the mentality u go into the playoffs.

If we don't even get to the playoffs it would be a great disappointment.. When u see a team trashing opponents in a great fashion game after game your expectations are high!

I know everyone wanted Ferry to start today, but I thought Di Canio made the correct decision stating with Miller due to the heavy waterlogged pitch situation. Having played football on many shitty pitches, usually it's the bigger/tall players that benefit with the conditions. Yes, Ferry did well when came on, but we did create clear chances with Miller also.

Just back and enjoyed the day, we were lucky enough to park in a side street near the ground so only got a bit wet walking back to the car. A mate of ours who had ordered tickets by phone for the Bournemouth stand was refused them when he went to collect but they gave him a refund so he went and bought his and another from the ticket office and popped up in the stand opposite us. He went unnoticed until we scored, although he wasn't thrown out he got a bit a stick from the home fans. Under the conditions it wasn't a bad game and thought we deserved a draw or possible more. Our players celebrated the goal right in front of us and you could see how much it meant to them. Boscombe is dire but the little bar next to Wetherspoons was a good crack before the game. Spoke to Leefer by phone but he was drinking in up market Christchurch whilst we were slumming it on Boscombe high street so will get to have that pint another time. Felt more like a win scoring late on and special celebrations  :)

Haven't read through yet.

Slightly frustrating but what an emotional outpouring when that ball hit the back of the net!!!!

Thought we would rue those chances.....

Ref was shit....linno on far side even worse....what a pair of cunts.

Pitch was terrible in that home end quarter but you can't moan as if we had been winning we would of wanted the game on.

That was as poor I have seen Ritchie play for us.

Martin off the pace (again) ....no where near that DeVita cut back...made my mind up...not keen on him I'm afraid.

What a fucking save from Fods.....Gordon Banksesque....

Old bill were great.
Stewards good.
Catering? What catering? How the fuck can you run out of pies at 3:20pm in a pre sold match.....it beggars belief. I thought our catering was a joke but FFS.

Pissed wet through but it felt like a win!! Onwards and hopefully upwards!

Let's not kid ourselves, they're a good team in the midst of a cracking run since Howe came back and a draw would be a good result.

Having said that if we can play like we did against Tranmere in the first half we will turn them over, as we would any other team in this division.

Personally think it will be 1-1.

Can't let the last ten minutes cloud our perception, we were lucky to get a point today. Lost count of the number of times great build up play was ruined by a poor final ball. Bournemouth adapted to the conditions better than us and too many players weren't at their best, notably Ritchie and Macca.
Having said that, we kept going and got a bit of luck. Celebrations at the equaliser were mental.

So Paolo broke the dugout and their twat of a chairman is making a big issue of it. Maybe he should take it onto Jeremy Kyle or judge judy? I thought they were supposed to. Be rich.

He knows a bit about things that go bust

Couldn't disagree more. Their goal was against the run of play and they were lucky to get a point. The weather ruined the potential for a great game but in no way did they adapt to conditions better. Apart from a 10 min spell in the second half I felt we controlled possession but the weather just made things difficult. We really do look class and are playing great football. I can't understand why Rafa is on the bench though. And Ferry for that matter. On a normal surface we would have definitely won today. On a negative note, I thought most of the game our fans were very quiet. Still a great point, but feel the weather stopped us getting 3 points.

I sort of see what he means in that we try and get it out wide quickly and into the box. And sometimes we play it long (in a controlled way). But I really think that sells a short, because we can play football too - just not too much tappy tappy :)

Don't smear a good day with your obnoxious comments. No need for it, don't make a noose for yourself.

Left straight after game and got back to West Dorset at 8pm - three roads closed due to flooding!

Well that was a satisfying point!

I was sat in the East stand with my Bournemouth mate and (also proud to say) my now Swindon supporting wife. She came back from the bog and told me that some woman was down there saying "Did you see all those cocky Swindon fans coming down here like they're something special, they ain't anything special" - My wife came back and said "that's rich coming from poxy Bournemouth". Good lass, she's starting to understand!!

Anyhow, it was very strange sat in amongst the 'enemy' - When we scored I didn't jump up and down but kept fairly quiet ('cause I'm a pussy!). The missus was grabbing hold of me wanting me to run about screaming like I normally do at home when we score. One thing for sure - I'll do my best to get in the correct end next time as I so wanted to scream and shout and flick my V's at Boremuff.
I didn't see any pockets of Swindon but I was too intent of watching the players celebrating.

That said from where I was sat (near their North stand end) B'muff were creating a good atmosphere. My mate said it was the best attendance this season (their cup final obviously) and that it was noisier than usual.

Had to laugh when James got sponsors MotM!! And what a miss by Collins - looked easier to score than miss!

Anyhow, at the end I overheard various conversations;
"The most work James has had to do in weeks"
"They (STFC) were physically stronger than us but we were technically the better side, on a dry pitch we'd have done 'em"
"They never gave up - so competative" etc etc

So good day out, first game for 10 years - enjoying my beer now and want to get back to going to games again!

(PS PDC is a fucking star - the B'muff fans couldn't get enough of him)

I agree, and I haven't read one comment from a Bournemouth fan who thought they deserved to win.

If Ferry and De Vita had started the game we would have won comfortably. I don't know why PDC insists on playing Miller and Hollands together as we're nowhere near as effective. Agee with others that Ritchie and Macca had off days, although Macca came alive when De Vita came on. Fucking awful miss from Collins. Thankfully James saved the day, and we could have won it with that clearance that nearly looped in and the deflected free kick.

At least we managed to get into the ground dry! Great effort from both teams in terrible conditions. Whilst running back to the car I stepped in a lake up to my knees. It made the drive home uncomfortable.

Don't get anyone saying it was a poor game. I thought it was a remarkably good quality game considering the circumstances with some very good passages of passing/ control/ dribbling/ tackles/ and general endeavour from both sets of players in amongst the inevitable slips and slices.

Reckon they edged it on possession and we edged it on chances and a draw was a fair result in the end. There is a very good write up of the game by a Bournemouth fan on their forum.

If Ritchie was consistent I would agree, but he can go missing in games. Ferry always has a big impact on the game and is scoring goals this season.

Ritchie is far and away our most consistent (attacking) player! If he's quiet, it's because the opposition have given him extra attention.

No, I didn't, but saying he isn't the most consistent on the basis of one bad day at the office doesn't stack up either. I'd rather judge him on the basis of his other 100 other games for us! Judging someone as the best/worst/most consistent means you need to generalise...

I think you missed my point! All I'm saying is, more often than not, if he goes missing, it is because the opposition have set up to nullify him. He scores a fair proportion pf our goals and our assists - any scout is going to suggest to any manager to focus attention on him. Of course there will be occasions where that isn't the case - it sounds like today may have been one of them, but the original post was about consistency, hence a judgment over time, not just this afternoon! No offence meant.

Rafa came on and made a difference no doubt, but lets not forget he was up against tiring players who had just put a 70 min shift in already...its easy to say that players like Rafa and Ferry should have started after seeing them put in a good cameo from the bench(though Ferry didnt yesterday).
Also for a team that was lucky i can count 5 clear cut chances yesterday not including the harder chance Williams netted.....including miss of the season from Collins.

We were not lucky in my eyes, draw was about right.

He's right to be fair. We can be very direct sometimes just not in the vein of hoofing the ball up from the back line.

More or less all teams in the lower divisions play direct football....and most in the Prem as well. It's the English way, to play possession football, you need technical players and we don't produce very many.

Also the fans mostly want to see up and atem stuff.  However, there are degrees of directness ranging from say "directness heavy" Stoke, to "directness lite" Chelsea.

Title: Re: AFC Bournemouth v Swindon Town FC Official Matchday Thread
Post by: [email protected] on Sunday, January 13, 2013, 11:10:44
In the days of Lou Macari, direct was a quick lump up front for the forwards to run onto.  Nowadays, it is much more controlled with an emphasis on breaking with speed.

Although I wasn't at the game yesterday so couldn't comment on how well the ref performed, from all reports and watching the highlights, he did well to get the game finished.  The number 1 concern is player safety, and when the pitch is as flooded as it was it would have been easy to call it off and few players/coaches would have complained.

Yesterday was brilliant, despite a very bizarre game on an unplayable pitch.

Draw was probably a fair result. Great character from us to get back into it, Wes kept us in the game on a couple of occasions. Two very good teams who should be there or thereabouts.

Decent atmosphere from Town fans, loved the celebrations when we equalised  :)

Very happy with a point, onwards and upwards!

I watched it and couldn't believe AW scored from so far out. He/we was/were very lucky as the defender could have easily cleared it on a different day.

A draw is beautiful when you come from behind, especially in the dying minutes. It's a bitch if you are the team in front.

Since no-one else has really mentioned it the last few games, I thought I should flag up how much Roberts work rate has improved since being dropped. Don't think he's hit his top form but good to see he isn't sulking about being left out and is responding in the right way by keeping his head down and working twice as hard. Did a lot of pressing and running 50 yards back to win the ball which was essential in that game as McCormack went walkabout.

Having said that, De Vita looked lethal when he came on.

I absolutely love the 'direct' style of football we're playing at the moment. End to end football, played at pace, attack - counter attack, lots of chances - the most exciting form of football in the world. Spanish football may be more effective but there's a reason why more people watch the Premier League.

People like to watch Barcelona because their first team contains 11 of the most technically gifted players in the world who can make their style of football exciting.

But when technically inferior teams like Brentford try to imitate that style, which translates at this level to 'passing it around defence' with none of the penetration that good total football teams will produce, it sucks the life out of a game. And then at the end the fuckers try to say 'they're 'playing the game the right way.' Fuck that. ATTACK ATTACK ATTACK.

My twopenny's worth on the vogue for 'passing' football in the football league and the deluded self-importance complex this creates amongst the fans.

just watched the highlights on STFCPlayer.

Collins miss in the first half was an absolute sitter, he did all the hard work and absolutely spooned it - massive surprise given his run of form
The pitch looks awful even on the highlights, how was it playable in the second half? The ball clearly doesn't bounce or roll properly
Williams took his goal incredibly well, not an easy chance even with the time he had to cue it up but owes a lot to the condition of the pitch

Oh, is that right stfcinBournemouth? I don't take kindly to veiled threats  :smugfu:

Easy assumption to make if you weren't at the game, but there was no beer on sale at ht.

Great game / celebrations. As has been said, felt better than the previous four results.

Yesterday was a great day out, train from Swindon at 10 and into Bournemouth for 12.15, few beers in the centre then went to Boscombe...it was rammed at the bar so after waiting 20 mins and not getting served decided to nip next door and grab a few cans instead! As for the game, we more than deserved the draw and after getting the equaliser I thought we'd nick it! The pitch got worse and worse, so coming back from 1-0 down on that was a credit to our lads! Williams finished well after calamty James cocked up! DeVita has really come on this season, Roberts also improving! What was the groundsman doing at half time?! That soak up thing he was using did nothing, and he was doing it on one of the better areas of the pitch, both penalty boxes were drenched (no surprise Pompey was off up the road either)...Anyway, great support, was right next to them and felt I had a score to settle with that drummer from the 3-2 defeat 2 years ago, so gave him a few of these at the end... :smugfu:

Happy days, onwards to next week!

Not sure if I'm qualified to comment on the away game at Northampton as I wasn't there but

coming from 2 down away at the Manor and from 4-1 down at Brum were a couple of my favourite (if a little booze induced) away-day memories

and I would imagine the Zulus were a bit more miffed than the Cobblers!!!

James changed from a green to yellow shirt during the half time break, bet there wasn't many fans who noticed that yesterday.

I did! Friends laughed it off as me being too hungover to remember what colour shirt he was wearing in the first half!!

Fair play, was going to say a few of their fans would of noticed but none of ours.

obv allowed then?? Seems questionable to me even if they asked the refs permission. Plus they were the home team. Re James when I saw them come out I found myself staring at James?! I now realise why? Bar the rain it was a good day.

Although it felt like we could have won given the chances we missed, can't lose sight of the fact that a draw was a very creditable result against a good side in shocking conditions. Keeps this little unbeaten run going, hopefully we can get the right result against the Shrews next week to give us a bit of leeway going into that tough stretch of away games.

Lot of people around us slating Roberts all game - even laughably haranguing him after McCormack gave the ball away - personally thought he played well and has improved markedly since December. Ditto for Martin.

Also special mention for Foderingham - regardless of the missed chances he kept us in the game with that incredible save in the second half. Given he's barely had more than the odd cross to catch in about a month it was pleasing to see him react so quickly - easy to forget what a difference it makes having a top drawer keeper like him.

Never thought of it like that, good point and well made.

I wonder if any of the Bournemouth supporters sat there noticed who actually smashed the plexiglass and how?

They seemed to be enjoying our manager anyway...

On the subject of Di Canio's touchline "antics", I'm sure I read somewhere (on thisis dorset i think) a Bournemouth saying Paolo should be "stopped" because his actions do is "put off the players and opposition manager"

What a fucking joke.  Would they prefer all personality to be sucked out of the game?  Managers sitting on their hands?

They have Eddie Howe as a manager, seeing Paolo in action could have been a culture shock for some of them

The FA tried that last season, and to quote the great man - "I give them permission to ban me for the rest of the season.  We will win the league anyway"

'nuff said really!
