Title: BBC News: Swindon Town extend Chris Martin loan spell Post by: News Monkey on Monday, January 7, 2013, 18:00:02 Swindon Town extend Chris Martin loan spell
Swindon Town extend the loan of striker Chris Martin from Premier League club Norwich City for a further 28 days. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20937211 Title: Re: Re: BBC News: Swindon Town extend Chris Martin loan spell Post by: supermarioTV on Monday, January 7, 2013, 19:00:59 I can't see what the fuss is about and was not bothered if he signed or not, I've not yet seen anything special from him, and after the last two games would of rather had Benson as cover and Story as an inpact sub rather then play the waiting game of Martin trying to end his goal dought, but each to their own.

Quite a few strikers are slow starters at clubs. he's done it elsewhere and hopefully, given a bit more time, he'll do it here as well.Title: Re: BBC News: Swindon Town extend Chris Martin loan spell Post by: suttonred on Monday, January 7, 2013, 19:21:26 From what I saw saturday, I'm with PDC, once he gets one he'll get a fair few.

Title: Re: BBC News: Swindon Town extend Chris Martin loan spell Post by: Batch on Monday, January 7, 2013, 19:24:17 Given Storey is injured and Benson is probably leaving (loan or perm) its good to have some back up. I said in a thread earlier that I was impressed with the way he was talking about wanting to stay and put right "unfinished business".
Title: Re: BBC News: Swindon Town extend Chris Martin loan spell Post by: leefer on Monday, January 7, 2013, 19:31:31 Also though not that impresive now a fit and raring to go Martin would score goals in the Championship easily in my opinion....he has a bit of class about him.
My only gripe is that he arrived very unfit and we have been lucky others have stepped up to the mark because lets face it if we had lost our last four then he would be walking back to Norfolk as we speak. Title: Re: BBC News: Swindon Town extend Chris Martin loan spell Post by: Cibocchi_Is_God on Monday, January 7, 2013, 19:36:28 Impressed me a lot when he came on saturday... Good quality with both feet, strong, intelligent... It's cliche, but if he scores one he will get more.
Title: Re: BBC News: Swindon Town extend Chris Martin loan spell Post by: TheDukeOfBanbury on Monday, January 7, 2013, 20:02:03 He will score Saturday and get booked celebrating with the Town fans.........just see it. :D

Title: Re: Re: BBC News: Swindon Town extend Chris Martin loan spell Post by: supermarioTV on Monday, January 7, 2013, 20:07:51 I've been thinking of past loans and I can't ever remember such hype over a loan player (with people trying to raise money on twitter to re-sign him etc) who has been avarage since he has been here, and has not scored in 9 months, shades of Magera so far with unjustified hype based on past successes.
Title: Re: BBC News: Swindon Town extend Chris Martin loan spell Post by: Paolo69 on Monday, January 7, 2013, 20:28:14 The reason for hype is usually based on past successes. It's life! Not sure there's been much "hype" on here though. Just seems to be some sensible fans being able to see a class/decent player past his current lack of goals.

PDC said he would pay from his own pocket to keep Martins (and others) at STFC. That's where the hype started. I'm in the martin is decent camp.Title: Re: Re: BBC News: Swindon Town extend Chris Martin loan spell Post by: FormerlyPlymRed on Monday, January 7, 2013, 21:37:47 I've been thinking of past loans and I can't ever remember such hype over a loan player (with people trying to raise money on twitter to re-sign him etc) who has been avarage since he has been here, and has not scored in 9 months, shades of Magera so far with unjustified hype based on past successes. If anything I'd say there has been more 'hype' about Hollands and Bostock than Martin. Pretty sure Morshead asked around on twitter and i didnt see anyone say out of the three they wanted to keep Martin. From what i've heard from those who attended the last few games he sounds like he will come decent and he has previous of scoring over 20 goals in this league. Not many teams can boast players who have the ability to do that. Plus he is a different type of player to Williams/Collins which can only be good to have variety Title: Re: BBC News: Swindon Town extend Chris Martin loan spell Post by: LittleRed on Monday, January 7, 2013, 21:37:59 Martins seems to be the striker that brings others into the game, seems to have a decent strike on him but I would like to have seen this more frequent. Seems to lack a bit of pace but I don't think that's his game. Definitely seen him shed the weight since he has been with us. Overall glad to see him stay as I think pdc is gonna get the best out of him which I don't think we have yet seen.
Title: Re: BBC News: Swindon Town extend Chris Martin loan spell Post by: jonny72 on Monday, January 7, 2013, 22:11:28 Reckon Paolo has half an eye on next season in the Championship and is keeping Martin sweet so he signs in the summer.
He's played the best part of 100 games in the top two leagues which is a lot for someone who is 24 and deemed surplus to requirements (at Norwich). Sure Paolo will get a lot more out of him given the time. Title: Re: BBC News: Swindon Town extend Chris Martin loan spell Post by: jayohaitchenn on Monday, January 7, 2013, 22:49:31 He looked quality on Saturday.
Title: Re: BBC News: Swindon Town extend Chris Martin loan spell Post by: Benzel on Tuesday, January 8, 2013, 10:33:13 He looked quality even when he was fat. The has some serious ability and I'm absolutely astounded someone can't see it.
Title: Re: BBC News: Swindon Town extend Chris Martin loan spell Post by: Batch on Tuesday, January 8, 2013, 12:10:38 Hasn't looked head and shoulders above anyone else to me Benzel. Not saying he won't be an asset, just how I have seen it.

Not saying he won't be an asset, just how I have seen it. Sorry Batch I'm with Benzel on this. Martin is quality at this level, very glad he has re-signed. Title: Re: BBC News: Swindon Town extend Chris Martin loan spell Post by: london_red on Tuesday, January 8, 2013, 12:19:17 Think he's got better with every game, was worried he struggled to win many aerial balls but his all-round game was excellent against Carlisle. He, like Roberts, probably deserved a goal for his performance.

Martin is quality at this level, very glad he has re-signed. I'm glad he's re-signed, I think he will be quality and wouldn't be surprised if he scores shed loads at some point. I just ain't seen it yet myself. Lovely stuff :)
