PAOLO Di Canio has revealed that a deal to take Paul Caddis to Birmingham on a permanent basis is close to being agreed. http://www.thisisswindontownfc.co.uk/news/headlines/10131033.Caddis_poised_to_make_permanent_Birmingham_switch/?ref=rss Title: Re: Adver News: Caddis poised to make permanent Birmingham switch Post by: ronnie21 on Saturday, December 29, 2012, 09:01:52 Well I hope the deal includes cutting short the season-long loan spell of Adam Rooney, not going to cut it at SN1 I am afraid. Where are Birmingham getting the cash, selling Butland to Liverpool I guess? What will the fee be, good players like Caddis should command at least 500,000.

Seems we have been shafted on the Jonathan Smith deal as well. Bought him from York, paid his contract up and gave him back to York, they are now selling him to Luton for £50,000!!Title: Re: Adver News: Caddis poised to make permanent Birmingham switch Post by: BruceChatwin on Saturday, December 29, 2012, 18:39:25 Seems we have been shafted on the Jonathan Smith deal as well. Bought him from York, paid his contract up and gave him back to York, they are now selling him to Luton for £50,000!! Hmmm. Think our club is developing a bit of a reputation for being easy to exploit in the transfer market. Ripped off by the tribunal over Henville and Collins, unable to muster fees for Connell, Smith and a few others who'd proven themselves as regulars in a team that coasted to the Lge 2 title, no doubt Benson will go on a free and Caddis probably disappearing on the cheap. Amazing the contrast with the early years of the Fitton reign. That man was a tough negotiator in the transfer market. Title: Re: Adver News: Caddis poised to make permanent Birmingham switch Post by: Cibocchi_Is_God on Saturday, December 29, 2012, 19:48:34 I thought we got a fee for Smith? Thought it was only Connell who's contract we payed up...

Thought it was only Connell who's contract we payed up... Smith left on a freebie I believe.Title: Re: Adver News: Caddis poised to make permanent Birmingham switch Post by: Iffy's Onion Bhaji on Sunday, December 30, 2012, 11:38:13 Why would we have paid their contracts up? Surely we just let them go on a free transfer?
Title: Re: Adver News: Caddis poised to make permanent Birmingham switch Post by: leefer on Sunday, December 30, 2012, 11:48:03 Because they wouldn't agree to go on a free transfer if they still had a contract to run...they agree to go only if they get paid up..if a player still has a year to go on say 4 grande a week he aint going no where on a free transfer unless he gets a big hike in wages.
The fact you are leaving on a free means that you are not going to get that hike in wages in most cases. Usually the club and player will come to a mutual agreement....sometimes they dont....i remember Cobian sitting tight on a contract for a fair while before moving on(think it was Cobian) Title: Re: Adver News: Caddis poised to make permanent Birmingham switch Post by: joteddyred on Sunday, December 30, 2012, 13:37:27 I'm not sure why there was such a rush to get rid of Smith and Connell. They were more than adequate squad players until we could have got some sort of fee for them.

Title: Re: Adver News: Caddis poised to make permanent Birmingham switch Post by: leefer on Sunday, December 30, 2012, 19:38:26 Don't agree.
We get him back and keep him as back up...if we get a couple of injuries towards the seasons end it is important we have plenty of cover. If they want him then they buy him....if they can't then he comes back in my opinion. I agree that he has been the consumate pro...even more reason to keep him here. Title: Re: Adver News: Caddis poised to make permanent Birmingham switch Post by: Summerof69 on Sunday, December 30, 2012, 20:33:44 I'd rather have Benson on the bench instead of Adam Rooney.
Title: Re: Adver News: Caddis poised to make permanent Birmingham switch Post by: Coca Fola on Sunday, December 30, 2012, 21:21:11 I want him back.
Title: Re: Re: Adver News: Caddis poised to make permanent Birmingham switch Post by: tans on Sunday, December 30, 2012, 21:28:06 I dont.
Cunt can fuck off for all i care Title: Re: Adver News: Caddis poised to make permanent Birmingham switch Post by: bigbobjoylove on Sunday, December 30, 2012, 21:35:33 As others have said, we seem to be a soft touch with transfer fees of late. Paying too much and getting sod all in return. Expect this to be an 'undisclosed' to avoid any STFC fan wrath.
Title: Re: Adver News: Caddis poised to make permanent Birmingham switch Post by: Coca Fola on Sunday, December 30, 2012, 21:58:48 I meant Benson.
