Title: New Years Eve Post by: Bogus Dave on Wednesday, December 26, 2012, 18:45:04 What are everyones plans? And, more importantly, where in Swindon will be good and not too rammed/chavvy (a tough compromise, I know).
Looking at going out in the town center for the first NYE ever. Title: Re: New Years Eve Post by: SuggWillSugg MBE on Wednesday, December 26, 2012, 19:44:40 I've done NYE in town once.
It wasn't amazing and was home by about half 1ish. We stuck to Groove (or "Fever" as it's just been rebranded) as they charged about 3 quid to get in rather than the extortionate price Bushies wanted. I'd suggest there or Tp's myself assuming Tp's is open. Title: Re: New Years Eve Post by: Chubbs on Wednesday, December 26, 2012, 19:53:16 never had a great NYE in town centre to be fair. not been for a few years now, prefer a quieter affair these days
Title: Re: New Years Eve Post by: SuggWillSugg MBE on Wednesday, December 26, 2012, 19:54:03 I plan on finding a house party one of my friends is hosting or ill end up in town.
Hoping for the House Party though. Title: Re: New Years Eve Post by: fatbasher on Wednesday, December 26, 2012, 21:07:10 BBQ @ Fatbasher Towers.
Wheel into the garage the gas BBQ from the garden. De rust the bars check for no wildlfe and spark the fecker up to sterilise it. The trick to not dying of smoke inhilation or carbon monoxide poisoning is to leave the up and over front door slightly cracked and the side door entrance open so as to funnel said noxious elements safely away into the atmosphere, thus creating a suitably warmer environment to enjoy a cocktail or eight while having lovely selection of marinated goodies from my superb BBQ book. Title: Re: New Years Eve Post by: nochee on Wednesday, December 26, 2012, 21:11:13 It's looking like Cologne for me, rave on.

Title: Re: New Years Eve Post by: Notts red on Wednesday, December 26, 2012, 22:24:54 Used to go out before we had the kids but now have a few friends round and a beer or two. Does anyone have any NYE superstitions apart from getting pissed?

Title: Re: New Years Eve Post by: SuggWillSugg MBE on Wednesday, December 26, 2012, 22:48:07 Stick to Groove.
Most people in there tend to be over 40 and thus not pond life esque as the 16 year olds in other places. Title: Re: New Years Eve Post by: Bogus Dave on Wednesday, December 26, 2012, 22:49:39 Is it? The whole area is chavved to fuck.
Title: Re: New Years Eve Post by: SuggWillSugg MBE on Wednesday, December 26, 2012, 22:53:19 I aggree, Haven't ben there in a while but at my last trip out Groove was full of pissed up middle age people!
Title: Re: New Years Eve Post by: MarkyTee on Thursday, December 27, 2012, 00:32:25 The bottom of Town was like a fucking war zone over Xmas.
To be fair though, Old Town isnt much better these days, left the Vic on Sunday night and got started on pretty much straight away from one ogg head as Longs kicked out, then once again on Eastcott Hill. Both times i did a 'light jog' from the situations, but its fucking crap I cant walk the five minutes home without fear of a shoeing. Title: Re: New Years Eve Post by: LucienSanchez on Thursday, December 27, 2012, 00:50:06 Berlin for me
I don't mind the occasional night down town, and don't massively fear for my safety any more than strolling home through Old Town (which i agree is getting worse) Title: Re: New Years Eve Post by: mystical_goat on Thursday, December 27, 2012, 01:43:48 Clubbing in London, seeing Julio Bashmore and Oneman, with my old friend Mandy.

Title: Re: New Years Eve Post by: joteddyred on Thursday, December 27, 2012, 10:44:17 The last NYE I spent in town was probably about 15 years ago at Brunel Rooms, ah the good old days and the place where I spent much of my weekends. I was actually just thinking there are no real nightclubs in Swindon anymore.
This year we're going to a friend's house party with the kids in tow. Title: Re: New Years Eve Post by: Arriba on Thursday, December 27, 2012, 10:49:01 Quiet night in. That would be my perfect New Year. Had a great night at Brixton Academy a couple of years ago with Simian Mobile Disco and some mcat. This year I'll be straight to the pub from work and then might pop down to the river to see the fireworks at midnight, depends what the weather is doing. Title: Re: New Years Eve Post by: Flashheart on Thursday, December 27, 2012, 11:54:25 Dunno yet. No Plans. Often it's mixed with petrol and other shit and literally eats the human flesh. My mates showed me some very nasty videos. I think it has a 1-2 year life expectancy for addicts. What a bastard that was I do this trip (from a bit further south, admittedly) several times a year, and agree it can be horrific. But luckily seems to be OK for me most of the time. It's all about the last 100 miles or so...because that's when the tiredness kicks in if it's going to. So I tend to take things easy early on; rest breaks every few hours (even early on when you don't feel like you really need them); and plenty of Red Bull (no vodka) for later on. And varying the route is something else I'm keen on. Very rarely come back the same way I went up. Title: Re: New Years Eve Post by: Bogus Dave on Tuesday, January 1, 2013, 10:42:32 Everywhere was really empty. I was surprised.
Title: Re: New Years Eve Post by: chalkies_shorts on Tuesday, January 1, 2013, 11:02:32 A completely alcohol free NYE and in bed at 9:30 with a lemsip. Woke up at 9am - nearly 12 hours straight sleep. I've still got the plague or ebola, although as I'm still alive marginally its probably the plague. Will be at the game later hopefully.
My daughter, however, carried on the family tradition and is in bed sleeping off last night / this morning. Happy New Year everyone. Title: Re: New Years Eve Post by: Matchworn Shirts on Tuesday, January 1, 2013, 11:40:39 Happy New Year from Germany to you all. May it bring you all happiness & another promotion for Swindon
Title: Re: New Years Eve Post by: FormerlyPlymRed on Tuesday, January 1, 2013, 11:47:58 Mental night. Spent and drank way to much last night and feel rough as fuck.
Off to the pub before the game it is then :-X Title: Re: New Years Eve Post by: jutty274 on Tuesday, January 1, 2013, 12:33:30 I had a great night at the Flash's, he & Mrs Flash were excellent hosts but i can confirm there was no reach around action just lots of man hugs at midnight. Victor Mildrew done a great impression of Jake the Peg with his overly theatrical fall when his knee gave way on him, The Flash & I being the ever concerned friends that we are were rolling about on the floor laughing at him.
Happy New Year to all of the TEF. Title: Re: New Years Eve Post by: Chubbs on Tuesday, January 1, 2013, 16:08:45 picture will follow (yes I do have the wide angle camera) well?Title: Re: New Years Eve Post by: wiggy on Tuesday, January 1, 2013, 16:36:32 Some teenasgers over the road had a party last night - boozy, lots of over-emotional shouting and all the goings on you would expect. Our street was like armageddon this morning with broken bottles, puke and traffic cones everywhere.
This has made me really happy, as our noise sensitive neighbours might just realise that all kids make a noise and a mess, not just mine. Title: Re: New Years Eve Post by: joteddyred on Tuesday, January 1, 2013, 18:18:24 I'm not sure how I made it to the football, feeling as rough as I did. The scoreline made me feel better briefly, but I am now back in bed where I plan on staying until tomorrow. Me and alcohol are done for a while!

Title: Re: New Years Eve Post by: chalkies_shorts on Tuesday, January 1, 2013, 18:49:37 Me and alcohol are done for a while! Is this measured in minutes or hoursTitle: Re: New Years Eve Post by: THE FLASH on Tuesday, January 1, 2013, 19:43:17 For once Jutty was not the cunt of the night.
Take a bow Victor Mildew....smashs head against door which then rebounds back into the swede....excellent....thought I was going to piss myself....all the woman showing concern added to the laugh...excellent! Happy New Year everyone!

On best behaviour on family duty so Mrs RO would let me go to Bournemouth! ;) Like the football, it's all about building the points up as I think we're in for a busy few weeks following the Town :toocool: so need to get the credit in now! :D Title: Re: New Years Eve Post by: THE FLASH on Wednesday, January 2, 2013, 19:30:27 On best behaviour on family duty so Mrs RO would let me go to Bournemouth! ;) Like the football, it's all about building the points up as I think we're in for a busy few weeks following the Town :toocool: so need to get the credit in now! :D Indeed I told Mrs Flash that I had decided not to do Colchester ...just after it was postponed.....serious brownie points. |
