Looking at going out in the town center for the first NYE ever.

I've done NYE in town once.

It wasn't amazing and was home by about half 1ish.

We stuck to Groove (or "Fever" as it's just been rebranded) as they charged about 3 quid to get in rather than the extortionate price Bushies wanted.

I'd suggest there or Tp's myself assuming Tp's is open.

never had a great NYE in town centre to be fair. not been for a few years now, prefer a quieter affair these days

Wheel into the garage the gas BBQ from the garden. De rust the bars check for no wildlfe and spark the fecker up to sterilise it. The trick to not dying of smoke inhilation or carbon monoxide poisoning is to leave the up and over front door slightly cracked and the side door entrance open so as to funnel said noxious elements safely away into the atmosphere, thus creating a suitably warmer environment to enjoy a cocktail or eight while having lovely selection of marinated goodies from my superb BBQ book. 

It's looking like Cologne for me, rave on.

I've got 2 options on the table, Cardiff or Cheltenham. Yet to make up my mind.

I prefer to stay away from the town center usually. Full of mouth breathing pond-life.

Most people in there tend to be over 40 and thus not pond life esque as the 16 year olds in other places.

The bottom of Town was like a fucking war zone over Xmas.

To be fair though, Old Town isnt much better these days, left the Vic on Sunday night and got started on pretty much straight away from one ogg head as Longs kicked out, then once again on Eastcott Hill. Both times i did a 'light jog' from the situations, but its fucking crap I cant walk the five minutes home without fear of a shoeing.

Few days in the lake district, house party in Cockermouth on NYE.  Will probably spend most of the night tittering about the name Cockermouth,

The last NYE I spent in town was probably about 15 years ago at Brunel Rooms, ah the good old days and the place where I spent much of my weekends.   I was actually just thinking there are no real nightclubs in Swindon anymore. 

This year we're going to a friend's house party with the kids in tow.

Quiet night in. Used to go out when I was younger but now think the whole NYE thing is a load of overated bollocks. I'll have a few drinks but wont be blotto. Will get a curry in and watch Jools Holland.

Home alone I reckon, trying to get people to commit to parties that require tickets to be bought is proving a nightmare

House party round Jayo's. Last years highlights included:

• A few quiet afternoon warm up drinks which turned into a session
• MarkyTee going home for a shower/to get changed and falling asleep, thus missing the whole of the evening including midnight)
• Trying to stop Jayo's brother blow himself up lighting fireworks
• Going for a curry and then buying the largest pizza I could find straight after, eating half of that and then spending the next hour contemplating whether to make myself sick.

Much better than 'going out'.

That would be my perfect New Year. Had a great night at Brixton Academy a couple of years ago with Simian Mobile Disco and some mcat.

This year I'll be straight to the pub from work and then might pop down to the river to see the fireworks at midnight, depends what the weather is doing.

Dunno yet. No Plans. Might just have a quiet one (albeit with plenty of beers) and watch the fireworks over Bangkok from my balcony.

Not NYE but my village are celebrating 25 years of their Lotto tonight.

I do this trip (from a bit further south, admittedly) several times a year, and agree it can be horrific.  But luckily seems to be OK for me most of the time.  It's all about the last 100 miles or so...because that's when the tiredness kicks in if it's going to.  So I tend to  take things easy early on; rest breaks every few hours (even early on when you don't feel like you really need them); and plenty of Red Bull (no vodka) for later on.  And varying the route is something else I'm keen on.  Very rarely come back the same way I went up.

Night in. A curry, a few beers and in bed by 1am.

All in, about 10 hours usually.  Breaks down as 7 hours driving time, 2 hours for breaks and 1 hour (+/-) waiting for & crossing on the ferry at the very start of the journey.  I probably take things a little easier than most (rarely go above 80 mph, even on the empty stretches), so sure you would be able to shave an hour to 90 mins of that if you really had to.

Everywhere was really empty. I was surprised.

A completely alcohol free NYE and in bed at 9:30 with a lemsip. Woke up at 9am - nearly 12 hours straight sleep. I've still got the plague or ebola, although as I'm still alive marginally its probably the plague. Will be at the game later hopefully.
My daughter, however, carried on the family tradition and is in bed sleeping off last night / this morning.

Some teenasgers over the road had a party last night - boozy, lots of over-emotional shouting and all the goings on you would expect. Our street was like armageddon this morning with broken bottles, puke and traffic cones everywhere.

This has made me really happy, as our noise sensitive neighbours might just realise that all kids make a noise and a mess, not just mine.

I'm not sure how I made it to the football, feeling as rough as I did.  The scoreline made me feel better briefly, but  I am now back in bed where I plan on staying until tomorrow.  Me and alcohol are done for a while!
