Title: Colchester Away
Post by: LincolnRedExile on Wednesday, December 26, 2012, 13:49:30
Looking forward to this one, grounds OK, but in the middle of the sticks.  How many will we take?.  Any pubs in area?

By far the worst of the recent wave of new grounds that I've been to. In the middle of nowhere, zero character or atmosphere.

Awful ground, went there for the FA Cup win last year, never been so cold in my life. Think this may be one for BBC Wilts, although on the day you never know

Drink near the station and get the shuttlebus. Hope it goes ahead as I have prebooked rail tickets.

I'll be going as the inlaws live just up the road so we will be staying for a couple of nights. Not my favourite ground and not sure I'd travel there and back in a day so fair play to those who are. I haven't seen us win there either so hope that changes this time round.

Bloody typical that we had games against two sides in the only area that doesn't seem able to host a game in the same few days.  I hope to god this doesn't cost us when they are played.  What a disappointing festive period this has turned out to be.

Deep....drivable just but if it stays under water then there will be safety issues regardless off the pitch condition.

Do you mean the area near the shop? That's been underwater for the past 2 months! Or has it spread to the rest of the CP?

[edit] The forecast from Monday afternoon onwards looks dry! Hopefully the game will be on.

Looking at the table it's very bunched from us in 6th to Yeovil in 12th with 3 points seperating us all. We do have 2 games in hand mind, but would rather have played and potentially got a few points over Xmas to have a bigger gap. That being said we haven't played where as the rest have and we're still in the play offs...bring on Pompey!

I'm guessing Geography is not one of your strong points.

Either that or you have a car capable of warp speed :)

After the Northampton game I had to pick my missus up in Milton Keynes. I ended up driving north up the M1 instead of south! Turned off for the M45, nearly into Coventry (cause you can't turn around at the junction!) back up to the M1 and down to MK! Took around 30 minutes. So yes, geography (or navigation) not a strong point and I did reach warp speed at times  ;)

So (3x) more than 20 mins then? ;)

It does show what kind if support they could get with a successful team.

To be honest wasn't impressed with how many they brought to Town.
Didn't bring enough to open the bank, that said neither did Sheff Utd.

Interesting that Posh...though Wednesday did have a crowd pushing 40,000 last season in league 1.

I believe that Leeds are the bigger all round club due to Southern based fans on away matches.
Wednesday are a massive club and i reckon they hold there own home and away matched up with Leeds.

Agree about Sheff Utd though.
