Title: Not racist but ..... Post by: pauld on Monday, December 17, 2012, 23:31:43 .... Zenit fans' group say they're not racist, they just don't want the club to sign any black players :headhurts:
http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story/_/id/1267960/zenit-fans%27-group:-don%27t-sign-black-players?cc=5739# At least now John Terry knows where he can go when his time's up at Chelsea and he's looking for that one last payday contract... Title: Re: Not racist but ..... Post by: Coca Fola on Monday, December 17, 2012, 23:51:52 They genuinely don't see a problem with it, in Eastern Europe the majority of people are racist, (this comes from personal experience) and because racism is so acceptable it is very hard to combat.
Title: Re: Not racist but ..... Post by: Coca Fola on Monday, December 17, 2012, 23:53:30 They should have just said we only want to sign players from the Baltic nations, and left it at that. Not the smartest of moves.
Title: Re: Not racist but ..... Post by: Nemo on Tuesday, December 18, 2012, 01:57:52 Yes, don't buy openly gay footballers. That'll really restrict their transfer policy.
Title: Re: Not racist but ..... Post by: Jimmy Glass is an Alien on Tuesday, December 18, 2012, 08:14:42 I know Athletic Bilbao only sign players from the Basque region of Spain and that hasn't done them any harm, as they're only 1 of 3 teams never to have been relegated from la liga (bet you can't guess the other 2!!). However I know this is a completly different kettle of fish and do feel that it is persecution of a race rather than preference of a team to protect their identity.
Title: Re: Not racist but ..... Post by: Flashheart on Tuesday, December 18, 2012, 08:22:06 This whole 'national identity' bollocks is often spouted by BNP followers. They babble on about protecting the national identity blah blah but ask them what it actually means they just glaze over.
Title: Re: Not racist but ..... Post by: Peter Venkman on Tuesday, December 18, 2012, 08:27:16 How can anyone who has the even remotest modicum of education consider this to be acceptable, it isn't.
Title: Re: Not racist but ..... Post by: Chubbs on Tuesday, December 18, 2012, 11:31:28 and people thought Poland/Ukraine hosting the Euros was bad. The world cup in russia will be on another level.

Athletic, have recently given a debut to Jonas Ramalho, a black lad, who's Basque, being brought up near Bilbao with a Basque mother. I used to like the policy of Sociedad, who try to play only Basque players, but found it difficult to compete with Athletic, so changed the policy, to Basques and foreigners acceptable, just no other Spaniards. Title: Re: Not racist but ..... Post by: RedRag on Tuesday, December 18, 2012, 22:06:00 Yorkshire CC circa 1970s perhaps? Yorkies had a Yorkshire born only "policy" until the early 90s and the current (!) Indian test player Sachin Tendulkar became their first overseas player round about that time. Not sure how the (in)famous western terrace compares to Eastern Europe now but sorry, Yorkies, it wouldn't have compared well in the past.Surrey CC fans would probably receive the most withering contempt however.
