Good luck to him.

Was always a decent back-up, and capable of very good performances (Charlton in the PO's springs to mind), but unfortunately lacked the consistency necessary to be first choice for long periods.

Good luck to Smiffy. Was never as bad as some made out.

Indeed. He made a few mistakes towards the end, but will always remember him for the season we went up under Sturrock, and the penalty shootout performances against Wimbledon (start of our Wembley run) and the greatest night in recent history Charlton!

Terrific servant of the club, would squeeze into the top 100 of all time, all things considered. Hope he hooks up with someone. My mate whose a Shrews fan bemoans their current goalkeeping custodian, they'd do well to give Phil a try. I sense the regional ties to the South East preclude him from looking too far afield though.

This. I liked him and even felt a bit sorry for him as he was clearly a nice guy who gave a shit.
