Shocking and tragic. But it was just a prank. I don't blame the DJs as such. The hospital management need to have a look at what pressure they put the nurse at fault under.

Assuming this is why she's topped herself, which it may just be a contributing factor...

edit: The Mail (I know) say that she was not being disciplined. I'm sure the press would have been in a frenzy, but I think she must have had other issues.

I don't get it. Is the story missing something, it basically says they asked to speak to Kate while pretending to be the queen - then she commits suicide?

I realise I'm a man and therefore wouldn't care, but I would be quite happy if there was no more press coverage of one woman's womb until the entitled sprog pops out. Then they can confirm the gender and name and we can all get on with our lives.

Its not clear whether she was the nurse that gave the information, or merely put the call through.

It might not even be linked to the prank. And even if it was then there must have been more to it, normal people don't kill themselves over a prank no matter what press intrusion was going on.

Patient condientiality is a basic tenet of any hospital:patient relationship and for a hospital targeting high net worth celebs to become a laughing stock throughout the world will actually be potentially very financially damaging - never mind the ethics.

The employee has fucked up very badly - (sh)it happens but the reputational damage that has resulted is quite serious.
Who knows what the connection is but a dedicated professional would be unlikely to find the broadcasting of their stupidity and breach of professional ethics resulting in serious damage to their employer as just a prank.

It was a fucking stupid prank. They left the nurse in a very difficult position. As has been said it may not have been linked to the prank but I hope the dj's feel fucking bad about it

Well, they probably feel they contributed to someones death, will probably lose their job, may possibly bring down the entire station and will have the entire UK paperazzi after them. I think its fair to say they won't be having the best of times.

Exactly, there must be something more to it.  As usual though in suicide cases, it's those who are left behind who will suffer.

I feel sorry for the radio djs tbh.  It was a silly prank similar to ones that plenty of other radio and tv presenters have played.  Now they will have the outcome on their conscience for the rest of their lives.

Not that simple though is it....she was a highly qualified nurse and obviously was distraught at the thought that her integrity was in question and believe it or not we all have different thresholds when it comes to stress etc.
Always makes me wonder when people comment about these matters.....fact is if it was your wife friend or sister was this nurse then i would think you would feel different.

There is no way the djs could have predicted this and at worst it was only a contributing factor.

But any idiot would have known that if the prank worked there was a good chance it would result in someone being sacked. It was childish, immature, sad, pathetic and they shouldn't have done it. The djs and their producer should be sacked at the bare minimum.

You can call it a prank if you want but impersonating the royal family, or anyone for that matter, isn't a laughing matter. Especially when you're talking about confidential medical records.

Spot on Leefer, Hope the Aussies are proud of their 5mins of fame, they should both be given community service in a hospital to see how well they cope with some of the shit nurses and hospital staff put up with on a daily bases.

Just saw the interview with the 2 Aussie DJ's that made the call. Looked like they are in a pretty bad state.

Having read more on it I'm not sure how much the DJ's are to blame and would point the finger at the management at the radio station instead. The call was recorded and went through their normal approval process, why did they approve it?

Though the bit I don't get is they've said they tried contacting the nurses five times to get their approval to air the clip but failed to get hold of them. They're acting as though this is some kind of excuse but I view it as the opposite - they felt the need to get approval, so why did they air it when they didn't get the approval?

I thought their interview was terrible. When the bloke kept stopping, looking awaynfrom the camera to compose himself he really reminded me of Mr G from Summer Heights High.

Felt a bit put on to me, although those Aussies love a cry, on Masterchef Australia every time someone leaves, or burns something, or talks about family they blub.

Having said all that I don't really blame the dj's it's just that as they are dj's they fall into the irritating bastards, deserve everything they get category.

I see it as a whole series of fuck ups starting with the DJs and including the security services, radio management, radio lawyers, hospital management, the nurses, the press and the British public.

A bloody tragedy though.

Nah it's not just you SY. Loads of people, myself included, are far from outraged. Think it's a shame for the woman to take her life but that's about it.
