Gunna be held in cities all across Europe so no host nation. Ridiculous imo! Gunna cost a bomb for the fans who want to follow their country! Once again, fans are completely forgotten.

It will probably be justified by them saying fans across Europe will have access to the games, conveniently ignoring the fact that people will have travel all over to watch their country, and there will only be a handful of games in each country so tickets will be pretty hard to come by.

The one thing the idea hs going for it is that the tournament will (hopefully) be played in Europe's most iconic and impressive stadia.

We'll all have hover cars by then, powered by an as yet undiscovered clean, free energy source.  It won't be a problem.

A vast part of the appeal of going to a tournament held solely in one country, or as has happened more recently, two countries, for a week or two is that you can properly immerse yourself in the sightseeing, people, cuisine, beer, footballing camaraderie, which is not adequately possible in a flying visit. Crap idea.

Will one country be based in the same City for group matches. Blood hope so.

I believe that one group would be based across two cities.

I assume that these two cities would be fairly close geographically.

Best way to do this and take in all 3 group games would be a roadtrip.

To be fair, Poznan and Donetsk held Euro 2012 games, and are over 1,800 KM apart.

From paris, 1,800km can get you as far as lisbon to the east, oslo to the north or even coca folas beloved sarajevo to the south. The distances involved will be no different to most major tournaments held these days.

I'll wait to see what cities they pick to see how stupid it is.

What is more stupid is having 24 teams. What is the point of qualification tournament as about half the countries will qualify.

Without having bothered to click the link, i presume the benefit of this is that countries without enough stadia to hold a whole tournament get a chance.  A good idea but only if a one off.  If they include cities in England, France, Germany etc it will defeat the purpose.

I think it'd be a great idea if say Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Finland get a couple of groups, Wales, Scotland, N Ireland, Eire maybe get couple, maybe countries like Czech\Slovakia/Hungary get involved.

How so? That was all worked out on Google maps, city to city. Not scientific, but shows people are over-reacting a tad about the distances involved.

I suspect only those who reached the latter stages had to travel such distances. Group games were congregated (relatively) closely together, which is what you'd expect Uefa to do in 2020. Again, little to no different to any major tournament

Not sure the logistics of this have been fully thought out. How feasible to hop around Europe once it gets into the knock out phase. Could be pretty chaotic, imagine 20K Dutch fans trying to get from Kiev to Dublin with only a few days notice!

A Euro 2020 final at Wembley was mooted a few months back, no chance of getting that with Platini involved!

You say that but wembley hosts the champions league final this year for the second time in three years.  UEFA like it because of the corporate hospitality available.

I reckon wembley would be a shoo in for the final.

Biggest issue for me is it lowering the standard of the competition by letting the crap countries in.

If they have to have 24 teams I'd have the lowest ranked 16 play in a group round first with the top 8 going through to another group round with the 8 top ranked teams. Then business as usual.
