I am genuinely concerned. I witnessed something very strange this evening. Has anyone experienced it?

The wife and the eldest were out and I was in the kitchen cooking a meal. The second eldest was getting a drink and chatting to me and, the youngest was in the lounge. We have two young cats that the kids love to carry around, so when the handle of one of our kitchen doors started to move up and down (but the door didn't open), I thought the youngest was struggling to open the door whilst trying to carry one of the cats. I moved forward to open the door when all of a sudden she walked through the conservatory door into the kitchen. I opened the door where the handle was moving and there was nothing there. Definitely nobody else in the house either. It wasn't just a catch releasing, the handle went up and down a couple of times.

The cats are fed up with being carried around so are trying to open the doors for themselves ?

They're not that clever, trust me. Anyway, one of the cats was in the youngest's arms, the other was upstairs. I am not someone to be easily spooked, but this did happen! A real case of WTF!!

Just sleep on it, and don't let it keep you awake worrying about it...... Don't forget to push record on your video camera  :eek:

we get the same in my house with the backdoor, the handle is abit broke so when a wind or something inside kicks up the handle goes crazy

I had one just after my daughter was born 24 years ago...  Got woken at 3 in the morning as she was crying and, from our bed,  saw my missus walk accross the landing from the bathroom into her room... Seconds later my daughter stopped crying... Turned over to go back to sleep and my missus is led next to me... Freaked the fuck out of me

The trouble is most people will say "vivid imagination" or "you think you saw something". I was cooking tea, it was at 7.00pm so I was very alert. The handle didn't just twitch, it slowly went up and down a couple of times and the only people in the house were in eyesight.

Not exactly paranormal but this happened on Monday evening.  My car has one of those all-singing, all-dancing card readers that control everything (it's a Grande Scenic).  Parking in Caulfield Road to see my grandchildren the damned car would not lock, press the button as much as you want and it stayed unlocked.  A guy came down the road and asked if I had a problem locking the car, I was a bit hesitant but agreed that it wouldn't lock - he could see that anyway!!  He said his sister had a similar car and that didn't want to lock in the street either.  Got back in the car and everything seemed ok, when I got home the bloody thing locked as per usual.  Why does this road apparently block the electronics?

Perhaps your youngest tried the door and then walked round to the conservatory (is that possible?). Or she tried the door, you got distracted and she ran through. I'm a believer but 90% of these experiences can be explained. If you're sure then keep a note of what happens and when.

The handle was moving, I moved towards the door and she appeared to my left. To get from the other side of this door means walking down the hall, through lounge door, across lounge, through patio doors, across conservatory, through lobby door and into kitchen through second door.

What is the history of your house?

I had a unexplained experience at a mates old victorian house. We were outside chatting and I'm certain I saw a girl with blonde hair waving from a bedroom window. His daughter had blonde hair so I said "kate's waving at you". He said, "no mate, she's gone to London with her mum, I'm here on my own". We looked up at the window and the girl was gone. He didn't seem that bothered but he did say that his mum had also seen a girl waving from the window. I could have imagined it of course but it seemed very real at the time.

The odd thing is my house is only 12 years old.

It doesn't seem to work like that. Depends on what was on the piece of land before, or even close by. We used to live in a semi in Bath and my mum saw a chap in her bedroom(!) who used to live next door in the 50's. She described him to an elderly neighbour who could even name him from her description! For those interested, she said he was very vivid, similar to a cartoon. He gasped and disappeared when she saw him.

I once stayed in a village which had a woman that was adamant her rice paddy was haunted. She explained how she would often see an image of a man, apparently inured, walking through the field at night. Some other guy there disagreed with her saying that there was no ghost. He said that if there was a ghost he would have seen it as he often walks through that same field at night on his way back home after a few drinks.

I posted this a few years ago, when we had a similar post.


In my early 20s I brought a two bedroom, first floor flat in Windsor.
My future wife was cooking in the kitchen (front of flat) when my sister and her husband arrived parking at the rear. When they came up they said they could see my partner waving at them from the lounge window (rear).
I said impossible she hasn't left the kitchen, you must have been looking at the wrong flat.
Weeks later a mate of mine (who did not know my sister, nor had I told anyone about it because I had dismissed it) said the same thing. Lady waving from the lounge window, this time my partner was not in the flat.
Now that's weird, so I investigated.
My flat was built on the ground of the Windsor gallows, the road use to be called 'Hung Womens Lane', name was obviously changed later on not a great selling point.
I sold about three months later, but never experienced any sightings myself.

In 2001, I was doing an insect survey at Durlston in Dorset, down some narrow coastal path well away from civilisation. Around 1am, an old man in a suit walked out of the darkness and started talking to me. He asked what I was doing and mentioned he owned an antique shop in Swanage. He then said goodbye and disappeared into the darkness. I watched him leave and he definitely didn't have a torch, and trust me, you couldn't see a thing with out one.

I just can't get my head around why an old man in a suit, without a touch, would just appear down a rocky path in the middle of the night, a good mile from civilisation. Ghost or superman?

People obviously believe they saw what they saw, i.e. not making it up (well maybe 4D is).

But what gets me is why would a ghost come back and wave out a window, or wobble a door handle. Is there some afterlife rule that says ghosts are only aloud to do lame things that have rational explanations?

Ghosts are photos of the past...caught in a natural way of making a photo.....ghosts are seen doing the things they did in life.....boring mundane things but occasionaly a glimpse of something more sinister.

My view is that if something as dumb as man can invent something so we can keep records of the past(photography) then there is sure as hell a way the natural world can do it.

I believe i have seen two ghosts....one was really clear the other a fleeting moment.

There are a couple of houses about half a mile from Durlston Castle, which can be reached by way of the coastal path, they're by the lighthouse. Maybe he'd had a few pints in Swanage that night.

Numerous people have told family and friends that they will come back to them when they die. It never happens. Ghosts sightings etc are humans minds working overtime. The power of the mind is so vast and not truely  fully known.

One of my earliest memories is of my dead grandad visiting me while I was at my nan's, I was only about 3/4. He was sat at the end of the bed in a suit and he started talking to me, apparently I just came downstairs at about 10pm and said 'Grandad Terry is here'. Always feels a bit weird when I go in that room, as if there's a weird energy or presence there.

In the room adjacent to that about 5/6 years ago I woke up and on the end of the bed was some sort of shiny stone. Not sure if it was a gemstone or not. It was smooth and polished, black but with a sizeable brown section. Scared the hell out of me.

I was once round Jayohaitchenn's house and the walls and various other objects started moving. There were weird lights and colours shooting all over the place and there seemed to be an eerie haze about the place, almost like a mist.

Didn't see any ghosts mind.

Used a homemade ouija board once many years ago and it was a very, very strange experience. The upturned tumbler moved around (there were four of us sat at a solid table) and the usual comments about who was pushing it obviously arose until we all stopped touching it and the bloody thing kept moving - we stopped very quickly at that point!

I don't know whether this is paranormal or just plain weird but sometimes when I can't get to sleep I'll open my eyes to look at my alarm clock and it will either be 1.11, 2.22 or 3.33. It happens maybe two/three times a week so it's too often to be just a coincidence.

Right, it's a week on and i'm still very raw about hearing the news.

For three years or so I lived in a block of 17 flats spread across three levels. Around two years after I moved into the property the flat opposite mine was vacated and a Scouse lady in her mid 40s moved in. After a few weeks we got talking and built up a strong friendship. Despite the cheery, confident and talkative exterior she showed to our other neighbours, through getting to know her I was soon to discover she'd had a very troubled life, and what is more it became evident to me that she was suffering quite severe psychological problems, in addition to being heavily dependent on alcohol. She found it very difficult to be alone so I spent a significant time in her company, chatting, watching TV, playing board games and the like. She used to frequently call her immediate family and rant down the phone at them which was fast alienating her from them, which meant I was fast becoming one of the few people who would lend an ear. She could have bouts of being very vindictive towards me too.

To seemingly go off at a tangent. I suffered a very bad assault perpetrated by a local thug on the threshold of my flat, was hospitalised and the lady was witness to this attack. As the only witness her testamant was critical to my attacker recently receiving a 7 month sentence. For that, I possibly owe her my life. It was that traumatic for me that the following day I cleared my flat and left for good on the insistence of my family. In the ensuing weeks I was hearing incessant voices in my head which seriously unsettled me to the point it was deeply upsetting. I was hearing the Scouse ladies voice imploring me to call her, also whole sections of conversation I had shared with her - verbatim - playing out in my head. It would be impossible for me to have so accurately recalled these chats, and the peculiar Liverpuddlian turns of phrase she used, if i'd consciously attempted to do so. I resolved to call her and everything seemed fine which put my mind to rest.

Last Friday I received a call from her mother who'd found my number on her daughter's phone. I was told that Carolyn had passed away. She had collapsed in the corridor of the block, rushed to hospital, and subsequently died, I believe having taken a cocktail of prescription drugs and alcohol. Her Mum told me that Carolyn was very upset at my sudden departure. Looking through text messages from her at around the time she must have collapsed I noted one that went "Where are you, I knocked on your door, you never told me you were going out". At the time I thought it was a joke message.

I can't help but think that the voices I was hearing in my head were some genuine supplication from her in some very inexplicable sense. As plausible is the fact i'd had a head trauma from my attack, but it all seems very odd.

Hope I haven't rambled on.

I think if you continue to hear voices, you should seek professional help.

When I heard she had died, I did think and dread that there'd be a resurgence in these voices, only this time from beyond the grave. Thankfully this hasn't happened. I'm trying to dismiss this occurence as being intrinsically linked to having been attacked - the guy, a heroin addict, was saying "i'm going to kill you" repeatedly whilst punching me about the head. I'd told his father bluntly to stop hassling me as he was continually turning up at my flat at all hours completely drunk and very unpleasant. Horrible sequence of events. One thing sadly it's taught me is not to be overly friendly even neighbourly towards others.

I a had a pair of shoes once. They were ace. Never out of fashion, warm in winter, cool in summer, grippy on ice. One day, after a few years they got a hole in them and I sadly had to throw them away.

I went out for my work Christmas do last night. My main consisted of pheasant (delicious, by the way) but after discovering a lead shot in one mouthful it really brought it home to me that not long ago this poor bird was wandering freely upon the earth until some person with a gun came along and shot it.

That feeling lingered with me for the rest of the night. As I lay in bed trying to get to sleep it felt like the pheasant had actually come alive within my stomach and was attempting the peck its way out, really playing on and deepening my guilt about eating the bird. This really disturbed me, my mind racing with thoughts of what had become of the bird and how I'd played some part in ending it's life somewhat prematurely.

Turns out it was just wind.

Just got back from the funeral in Widness, near Liverpool, was good to talk to her family. I have probably been a little permeable to the jests and a lot of the comments have escaped my understanding. Onwards now.

A friend of mine has been attending a group that believes in mediums and how to channel their abilities. Got to say that having spoken to her many times over the years that she does seem to have something about her that makes me think that there are certain people that appear to have a different view on our existence.
