Post by: Langers on Monday, November 26, 2012, 20:32:20
I know it is a fair way off but is anyone heading up there?

Never been before but will be going if I can get the Sunday after off work.

My local fixture this so i'll be there. Going to see Fatboy Slim at Warehouse Project the night before so I will not be in a good way and I'm not sure Boundary Park in December will help my recovery!

The Oldham keeper Bouzanis was given a straight red tonight, so if it's a three game ban he will miss our game. Was in the 91st minute too.

With Doncaster and Tranmere coming to us before Christmas now would be a Good time to turn in some winning home proformances. Must win games, six pointers? maybe but we certainly don't want to be losing them.

Some of the nicest countryside is up north, along with some of the grimmest towns

Agreed! I'm sure Oldham's going to be grim but it's in the Peak District which is so picturesque. Another grim nothern town was Preston but that's right on the doorstep of some of the UK's most dramatic scenery. I guess there has to be some reward for the poor sods living up there!

It's actually in the Pennines but they both start with a P so what the hell. But yeah, Oldham as a town is pretty grim, only trumped by Rochdale locally. Some lovely scenery where I'm from a few miles down the road in Saddleworth though, famous for the moors on which Myra Hindley and Ian Brady buried their victims. Lovely stuff

Patronising and pedantic also start with a P  ;)

Haha, fair play. I always thought of the peak district as Derbyshire and Cheshire which most of it is really. The boundary just starts at the moors according to this map http://www.peakdistrict.gov.uk/maps/pdmap so I guess we both win :)

Petty also starts with a P ;)

At least it doesn't have that fucking awful plastic pitch anymore.

I remember going up there a couple of times, I'm sure it was around the time that we always seemed to draw 2-2 with them

We played Oldham fans on the plastic pitch under floodlights after we lost there 4-3 many years ago. We then went on the piss in oldham with their fans - a good bunch and a good night out.

Might have to delay setting off tomorrow - pitch inspection at 9:30 in the morning

Well it's mild and wet in Manchester today so unless there's a massive temp drop overnight I reckon it'll be on. Just checked metcheck and not due to drop below 2 degrees overnight.

Please don't set off on my say so though :)

I will also be delaying my departure time! Any decent pubs around if it is on?

The old grey mare on Rochdale Road, the main road behind the away stand is alright, has sky sports and is ok with home and away fans. 5 min walk to the ground
