MILES STOREY SPECIAL: Bodin wants more to follow in Storey's footsteps

PAUL Bodin is hopeful that the number of youth-team graduates making an impression on the Swindon Town first team will help attract the stars of tomorrow to the County Ground.

Miles Storey special? Jesus Christ, best of luck to the kid but perhaps it might be worth giving him a bit of a run in the side before the Adver make a fucking commemorative circle jerk special.

I can understand the Adver wanting to cover this story, it's not every day a Swindon youth product gets an international call-up - even at U19 level. This does seem rather OTT though, and could probably all have been amalgamated into one article.

Also, whilst it isn't at all their prerogative to do what's in the club's best interest - given his history of throwing his toys out the pram with the press, and that with regard to this specific player Paolo urged caution and a bit of perspective - you can't help think but it's a bit shortsighted of them (the adver that is).

Morshead is on holiday. I reckon somebody else is taking the opportunity to get themselves noticed.

*Edit

Scratch that. Just noticed one of them was written by Morshead.

I think you're right. And not necessarily at the Adver - I suspect this is actually more of a Bodin special than a Storey special.

Incidentally, (and not just aimed at you FH), there seems to be a misunderstanding of the role of journo v editor on here. Seen it before with people having a pop at Morshead for "sensationalist headlines" when a lot of the time it's not the journalist who wrote the article who gets to decide the headline. Same with this, the decision to do this "special" will have been the Sports Editor, not the individual journo(s) who wrote the stories (or Storey Stories I suppose we should say). So Sam Morshead being here or on holiday is irrelevant. Unless the cutbacks at the Adver mean they've done away with the role of Sports Editor and folded it into the reporters' jobs, in which case I take it all back :)

Can anyone tell me when we last had a youngster playing for England?

Come on chaps,i get the adver everyday, sometimes its very poor but to be fair they cannot win can they...when he starts banging them in again and the big clubs come sniffin then all publicity will be most welcome for our bank balance.

Read it this morning at 5am while watching the cricket and golf(Howler having a good round by the way DMR :D) and rather enjoyed it to be honest.
Maybe a little drawn out granted.

I had noticed Morshead himself stating he doesn't write the headlines and cannot therefore be held culpable for them. Either way I don't thing we'll be hearing from PDC through the adver for a while.

And on another note I could have sworn we signed Danny Hollands on loan, the adver seem to have completely ignored it.

You're right there. Sam's actually said before it's not him who comes up with the headlines, he just writes the article.

been wondering for a couple of weeks why the boss of another team should be saying a youth player of any side would be flipping burgers in a year?  how and why, anybody know?

It was the Stevenage youth manager... He said it to Storey after a youth game when Miles had a bit of a strop after 'having a mare'

Storey had a run in with a Stevenage player in a youth game..the Stevenage coach obviously didn't rate Miles and said what he said....but was no where to be seen when Storey scored n his full debut......v Stevenage.

Apologies if you were just being sarcky and had heard the story before. :D

A tad cringeworthy!  You'd think he had just won the World Cup or something! Law of averages would say he'll be playing non-league in five years. The kid should be left alone to develop.

Think the adver are getting a bit carried away with this, Storey although doing really well with Swindon at the moment only got a chance to play / start on Tuesday because the two strikers in front of him the lad from birmingham and Dom Samual from Reading called off because of injuries and illness, if they were both fit doubt he would have made the bench as after all he was only on standby.

Dont get me wrong hes still done very very well to have achieved what he has done, and I wish him all the best for the future, but lets not get to far ahead of ourselves

Moorhouse will have been told to write a Storey Article won't he? Hardly his fault for doing his job.

People are morons.

I thought he only wrote one of them? Either way, he'll have been given the job to do by a superior (Sports editor?). He's then done it. A bit harsh for him to get all the flack for it. Moorshead, Morehouse or whatever he's called.

Moorshead, Morehouse or whatever he's called.

Maybe it should be Morestories. Works on both levels then, even if the spelling doesn't.

Alex Henshall at u16 level.  A lot of our more mongular fans would probably boycott The Adver if they realised how much of it is now outsourced to Oxford.  I'd imagine there's a bit of shit stirring going on here.
