Celebrating Storey's second the other night like a nutcase got me thinking about this.

For me it would be either Danny Wards at Charlton in the playoffs or Collins at Stoke this year.

McCormacks at Northampton last year is also up there.

Easy question for me, Invincibile v Peterborough for me! Still sends shivers down my spine thinking about it! If anyone has a copy of that goal anywhere please post it!

Bodin's penalty at Wembley in the 93 play-off final. I was 11 and had only been watching Town for a couple of years, I went mental in the way that only a young child can.

Others that spring to mind; Collins v Coventry (fell over the seats in the Town End), Storey v Villa, Austin at Southampton, Parkin at Leeds, Ifil v Walsall...I could go on!

Charlie henry v the pikeys and chalkies v the same mob at selhurst are 2 older ones that jump out. Recently Alan Mac at Northampton was pretty special.

The most damage done was Greer's equaliser vs Norwich at home. Scrapes and bruises down the shins for a long old while.

Austin at Southampton, ended up sprawled all over the canvas sheets seperating the rows of seats between us and the Saints' fans. :beers:

Given that I wasn't present at the Charlton away leg or other promotion winning goals, then I'd say probably Owain Tudor-Jones' equaliser against Carlisle a few years back which ultimately secured our safety that season.

Are you sure your mind isn't playing tricks on you?  I remember Kevin Horlock doing something similar.

Apart from the obvious 2nd goal from the 'Don' at Wembley, I'd pick JAF's goal away at Bolton in the Cup semi.

Put us 2 up on aggregate and I was convinced we were on our way again.

Also, the goals away at Tranmere play-offs semi. That was a corking day and post-match night out

If it's any consolation, I remember going a bit ape, v Wendies in the King era, when we got a 3rd after being 2 down with about 12 mins to play...can't remember who scored, it may have been Fallon...because too busy trying not to end up on the bottom of a heap of TE bodies.

Fallon would also get an honourable mention for his goal v Shitty...I like an aisle seat, because it gives a bit of mental going terrace space, when that one went in some cunt actually sprang right over the top of me....quality.

This season has to be Collins at Stoke and Storeys on Tuesday when i ripped my leather jacket!

I think I mentioned this one in the 'your favourite goal' thread - but Hoddle's effort vs Sunderland, Aug 1992.  I was in the Town End that day.  It was like I forgot to come up for air, almost asphyxiating.  Odd feeling.

Keith Scott's vs QPR, Nov 1994 was another.  Momentous goal, that one.

More recently, McCormack's late winner at Northampton last season and (unoriginally!) Storey's 2nd at the weekend.

Also Fallon's at Brighton, May 2004.

The second goal v Tranmere at home in the play offs. We'd only just finished celebrating the first goal when that went in. I was on the Stratton Bank and jumped around and moshed so much I thought I was going to puke!!
I can see myself on the highlights of that goal - I was the boy that was carrying a bright green high vis vest thing and just as they announce the previous scorer I lifted the high vis vest in the air just as the next goal was scored!

Other than that, the Bodin penalty at Wembley was metal - I don't remember properly but I must have fell off the seat because I had a bruise that went from ankle to knee over the whole of the back my calf!

Oxford away was always good cheers - the time we won 4-2 after being 2 nil down was pretty decent mentalist cheering.

Ross maclaren's pile driver vs bolton in a league cup replay is the first one to spring to mind. Proper steamroller in the shrivvy road that night.

Went mental for both of Ward's goals in the Charlton play-off games. Paynter's first goal at Leeds when we won 3-0 a few seasons back also springs to mind. Alex Revell's winner at Brentford that same season was pretty mental as well.

Great goal.  I'd had a few before that game, but clearly remember the way he curled it in.  Voice was in tatters for a few days after.

Haha no that was the shock of Ben Hutchinson scoring the 2nd goal that day. Epic away day. I was truly smashed.

A different one which i don't think's been mentioned on here yet, is Bodin's last minute winner at home to Portsmouth in 93. We'd played them off the park but couldn't score until the scramble in the box which he slotted in, i went mental when that happened. I think the crowd did too from my distant memory....

For me has to be the two goals scored at Liverpool in the Premiership....we dicked them that day and it was a magnificent display....Keith Scott putting us two one up before Mark Wright scored in injury time with a flukey header..great day.

Billy Tuckers late equalizer away to Arsenal is another great memory as is Jans beauty at home to Millwall in the League Cup.

Recent years i would have Parkin at Leeds and Austin also away at Leeds.

For me though the goal what gives me goose pimples every time i hear it ;) is Craig Maskells belter off the bar v Leicester in the Playoff final.

I think it'd probably be wards or darby's against charlton, although that was in a Pub in Bath rather than at the match.

For actual live goals witnessed, Collins' 3rd against stoke. No question.

The one I really went wild was Parkin's last minute winner at Wycombe during the "Jimmy Davis" period.Peter Thorne's second semi-final goal against Bolton was a mental moment.

I went mental that day too and even got a close up of me going mental on match of the day!

The most I have ever gone mad at was without doubt Bodins penalty at Wembley, closely followed by Alan Macs also at Wembley but in a league game it was probably either Brian Wades goal or Dave Bambers goal against Chester City at the County Ground in 86 when with either/both goals we got promotion from the old 4th divi.

This one, and Jerel Ifil's equaliser against Walsall to clinch automatic promotion.

It was 0-0 at home, it was the away leg where we won 3-2 after being 2-0 down



For me it has to be Rowland scoring the 4th goal vs Arsenal in the League Cup.

However there have been several others, some already mentioned.

Billy Tucker's late equalizer at Highbury, when he scored I was at the back of the clock end terrace, by the time we had finished celebrating I was right at the front.

Maskell's goal at Tranmere away in the play-off semi-final that brought the score back to 2-2.

Shearers first goal at the Scum that put us 3-2 up after they had been 2-0 up inside 10 mins

Danny Invincible's v Peterborough, keeping us up and sending Wovers down a few days later.

And any last minute goal winners...

Went mad at both goals v Villa especially the 2nd, it's amazing how far you can end up away from your place even with rows of seats in the way. Austins goal at Saints was a special celebration, went mad at Tuckers late equaliser at Arsenal in the cup some years back but probsbly Bodins Penalty tops the lot.

Calvin Andrew vs Brentford was pretty mental. First win in 19? Not a bad strike either.

Most mental for me was either Fjortoft vs Man U or the stoppage time winner at home to Grimsby in the McMahon era, when we had been 2-1 down with 90 minutes up.

Most damage was Shaun Taylor scoring in a 1-0 win at Swansea during the McMahon promotion season. About ten huge blokes came roaring down the terrace, I'm sure I broke some ribs in that celebration!

Hmm, I think the third against Tranmere in 93 was a bit insane as I made it down to half way of the Bank having started at the top row.  That was a moment where it now seemed inevitabke we were going to walk into the Prem.
The goal at Bolton away has been mentioned, that was nuts, shit fuckers.
I wasn't at the Charlton away game a couple of years back, but my celebrations resulted in a neighbour calling the Police to a household disturbance.  Let him have a poke in to check the score when he'd found out the reason for said "disturbance".

With others with Rogers' and Bodin's at Wembley, Maskell at Brum to go to 5-4 from 1-4 in a very mental 20 minute.

Sometimes a mix of spite & frustration makes a goal special with some well directed bile and gesticulating at the oppo players.  Any goal v the Pox as already rightly mentioned.

One promotion 6 pointer in '79 v the Gills at the Town End in 1979 really got the juices going.  The Gills had been violent, cocky and effective in keeping us at bay for 45 minutes when finally all hell broke loose.  At last they had a man righly sent off and the protesting, spitting gobshites protested and their keeper earned a yellow.  Seconds later the Town End was gesticulating and swearing at the keeper as he angrily picked the ball out of the net with an unlikely 1-0 edge for Town at halftime

Second half ended with violence in the tunnel, broken noses, assault charges but neither team went on to promotion.

Forgot about that one! He hit the bar not long after with an almost identical strike if i remember rightly?

In recent times it has to be this one, McCormack with a goal he really is capable of, makes me smile thinking about it  :)

Fallon against City is the one that stands out. Ended up on the floor under a pile of jubilant town enders. Another Fallon goal was  in the 3-2 against Wendies - that comeback was pretty special.

I'd completely forgotten Alan Reeves' late winner at Ashton Gate - lovely!

Any goal against the Scum but surprised nobody has mentioned Peter Coyne agwy to the Slave Traders in 87 stopping them getting into the play offs. Also either of Chalkies away to the Slavers when we won 4-0.

The ones I thought of immediately were mentioned in the first couple of posts.
Macca against Northampton last new year's eve and Invincibile against Posh.

Going back in history I can recall:
Don Rogers 2nd in the last few minutes of the match to give us a 3-2 win against Preston in 1972
Joey Butler against Birmingham in the FA Cup in 1973
Chalkie's second vs Pikeys at Selhurst in 1987
Alan Mac vs Sunderland at Wembley in 1990
Shearer to give us a 4th at the Manor in 1990 to win 4-2 after being 2-0 down in first 7 mins

Other than that I think Invincible against posh is one that really sticks in my mind.

Invincibile, and I wasn't even there (was driving back from a match I played in).

That was mental.  1-0 up v PNE who had a mean defence had slipped to 1-2 by second half before two goals from the Don on about 90 + 92 turned on its head what had looked like being a grim afternoon. 

Although many of Don's goals ended up being one on ones this one was smashed from outside the penalty area

That was mental, we were top row and ran all the way down and got soaked! We were in the bottom 4 at the time and that win kick started our season! 10 years ago yesterday, staggering.

I think it had to Be Maskell against Brum to put us 5-4 ahead & also Mitchell scoring the 6th in 93. The goal that done the most damage was against Barnett last season at home, Ritchie scored our second & i broke my nose on the Flash's head.

I'm pretty sure me and Mrs Taylor are in that clip behind the goal. I didn't really celebrate the goals in that game that much because it seemed so surreal - and most the goals were at the opposite end. At the same time I knew (and said at the time) that we were seeing something that people would still be talking about down the pub (or indeed yet to be invented internet forums) in 20 years time.

Ooooh! I've just thought of another from that season....both goals against Newcastle in a 2-1 win

And another from the same season...not a goal celebration but Sunderland missing a pen against us at Roker Park in the 93rd minute when we won 1-0 (it was never a pen - Kevin Lynch ::))

Apart from the obvious against the Pox, Charlton away was special and also for some bizarre reason against Sheffield Wednesday in 2004. King in charge, 2-0 down and we won 3-2 within the space of 10 minutes at the end.

3-2 wins with goals scored in the last minutes after losing 2-0 is always one for going mental at

Any goal that the town scored in front of the Town End in the late 80's, early 90's was always mental as it always resulted in a huge bundle down to the front. Somebody usually ended up with a twisted ankle or cuts and bruises.

Alan McLoughlin scoring the only goal of the game in the 1990 play off final against Sunderland was mental. I think we celebrated that goal for at least a week.

Those two definitely stick out in my mind, I was 14 at the time of the Sheffield Wednesday one and with 15 minutes to go I said to my Dad that we could win and we'd score three goals in the last 15 minutes, he laughed and said that I'd learn in a few years time that you should never be optimistic when watching Swindon, 15 minutes later we were both going crazy!!

I think it has to be Macca at Northampton last year. I nearly had a siezure.

Bizarrely enough, for me it was when JP McGovern scored the equaliser against Yeovil to make it 3 - 3 in THAT season.

It was probably the fact that I didn't celebrate Aden Flint's goal that made it 3 - 2 and then proceeded to have a massive rant about how shit we were, and that even if we did score again I wouldn't celebrate because they didn't deserve anything. My Darwin, we went fucking mental.

Also Austin @ Saints and for this season, Miles Storey's backheel against Villa.

Most severe injury obtained from a celebration was at Vale Park during one of the Kingy years.  Cant remember if it was during the playoff season or the relegation battle (Gasheads choking to keep us up) season but there was a fair amount riding on the game I think.  Was a cold Tuesday evening and we were 3 down with about 20 mins left, eventually pulled it back with Fallon scoring the equaliser late on. Jumped up and whacked my knee with some force against the seat in front resulting in a severely bruised kneecap and accompanying limp for about a week afterwards.

Fallons goal in ET at Brighton. When it nicked off the keeper and looped up slowly, time seemed to stop as it dropped towards the corner, and when it flicked in to the net... I've never experienced anything like that. Jumping up and down that fucking running track, good god what a moment.

I remember thet day well! We were in the Shitty half of the end Swindon were in and trying to be quiet and my missus at her first Town game shouting about how good Swindon were! The best of all was the 4th. goal vs Arsenal in the 4-3 League Cup win 1979  or maybe 1980. 26,000,packed in like sardines in the Town End, getting crushed and not giving a fuck!
