Southampton have conceded 24 in 8.  Could they join Swindon in the 100 conceded club in the top flight?

From what I have seen they do look a bit of a defensive shambles!

not enough games these days, would take a huge effort for them to be as bad as we were.

Even Derby and Sunderland never got close.

Heard a sky sports pundit mention this yesterday, apparently saints now hold the record for most goals conceded in the first eight games since the prem started ?
Edit: just checked, we had conceded 19 after 8 games, take that Saints  :)

I think if they keep going they will concede 114 goals. They've conceded 3 a game so far on average and they play 38 games.

If it carries on they'll sack Adkins at some point and appoint a Hart-a-like who will park the proverbial bus and stem the flow (in my opinion).

I would have guessed it was way more .....

I remember us conceding 3 at sheff utd, 5 to liverpool and 5 to Southampton early on. So we only conceded 6 in the next 5 which is verging on respectability!

We did get smashed around on a few games though and I can't see that happening to Saints, although fingers crossed.

I remember the 2 consecutive wins against Spurs and Coventry in Feb time and the wray of hope they gave us ..... Bastards!

Bizarrely my biggest memory is getting smashed 7-1 at Newcastle!

Looking at the results from that season, there were draws at Arsenal and Liverpool and we held home to Man Utd, they must have been good fun!

I remember losing 6-2 at Everton and watching it that evening on MOTD.  Alan Hansen fucking ripped into us, Martin Ling in particular got it in the neck!

It was great fun. Playing in a league of Giggs, Cantona, Wright with Kilcline, Whitbread, Fenwick. Mutch and Scott we didn't have much chance

I remember watching extended highlights of our defeat at Villa on ESPN classic a few years back, I don't think I've seen such horrors on a football pitch before

The booze I'd consumed before the game did dilute the poor showing to some degree. Think we took about 5000 to that game, I was in the witton lane lower. The holte end was still terracing then = awesome!

There are legitimate criticisms of the team being way too open and poorly organised,but Gorman was dealt a dead hand by the Board.

You have to remember that we lost Colin Calderwood to Spurs and half of the fee went to Mansfield,even though he had been with us for 8 years and signed 3 different contracts in that time.

John Gorman's biggest mistakes came in the summer of 1994 with the signings of Robinson and spending silly money on Beauchamp and losing Whitbread in the process,which ultimately cost him his job.

Chelsea at home was one of our worst-Dennis Wise scored a header ffs!

Having the piss taken out of us on Chris Evans Big Breakfast, or whatever it was called, us 'playing' a bunch of kids, these being the only team we were likely to beat.

Had the mick ripped out of me for days after that.

We went on a five game home unbeaten run between mid jan and mid March, Which was pretty good going Concidering.  :)

I was in the Stratton Bank for that and got a good view of the smack.

Fair play to Mark Hughes because he was well game. It was right by where I was stood. Apparently more amusing was Digby's mrs smacking ince's mrs afterwards.

In the players bar afterwards Ince's wife was giving it the big one about Ince so Digby's wife walked up to her told her she'd had enough of her Paul ince and dropped her.

From my hazy memory of that era, I use to live quite close to some of the town players and I can vaguely recall old Fraser being kicked out the house with his mrs screaming at him about something.

I also have memories of Martin Ling inviting me into his back garden during a BBQ to sign an autograph, John Gorman opening his front door in his dressing gown to sign an autograph on the way home from school and Jan Fjortoft casually leaning out his bedroom window chucking out signed player cards.

They were the days...

I went to that one, hated the PL season, couldn't get tickets for love nor money

i loved that season, even though i was only 12 i think i got it that would be a one off! its hard to pick a worst performance but getting beat 3-0 at wimbledon has to be up there from the games i saw, that or getting humped at the dell!

Looking at some of the Stats from our Prem season, We had 16,261 at our home game with Chelsea and away at the bridge it was 11,180. Our lowest league game attendance was 11,940 which was our first home game v Oldham and our highest was 18,102 v Man U at home

Another 2 conceded tonight in another defeat for Southampton but the point I wanted to make was in relation to the opponents tonight West Brom.

They are a seriously good premier league outfit now. Quality throughout the 11 on the pitch and more to come off the bench.  With that period in the 00's where they were constantly yoyo-ing between the top 2 league I wondered if they would make it as a consistently decent side in the PL. But I think they have do fair play.

Just realising what dross I saw in our premier league year. Wimbledon away, villa away, Southampton away, Leeds home, arsenal home. Is that 22~1 on aggregate from those games?

I did see other matches but those stick in the memory.

After all the years I've been going to watch the town it was during our premier season that due to work I saw the least amount of games, probably no more than half a dozen at most. Although it wasn't our most successful season I would still loved to of been able to say I saw us play the likes of United,Liverpool and the other big names.

We were seriously fucked over in a few games that season by dreadful decisions.

Away at Sheff Wed, Liverpool, Spurs and Man City spring to mind.

I think we were the only side that season to score 4 against Man U over the 2 games

As an aside - is there a better day out than an away game in London?

Fucked over away at Everton where Mutch got red but the Everton player should of gone too.

Liverpool away was the best away game.

United at home best at home for me.......fucking Sanchez should of won it.

With Villa away being a truly awful experience.

Made worse by the fact I was in the home end with three Villa fans. Humiliating.

When we registered our first win v QPR it was middle October, so Saints and QPR have failed to emulate us in getting their opening victory of the season. I loved it when Derby and Sunderland had a pathetic Premiership season as it took the heat off us

The thing was that the QPR game was our 16th league game of the season, whereas Saints and QPR are currently only on their 10th game. And also they play 4 less games a season so I doubt our 100 goals against will ever be equalled or beaten.

Then again.....after 10 games we had conceded "only" 26 goals and Saints have already conceded 28 :)

Oh and Saints won their first Premier League game against Villa in September in just their 4th game.

But QPR are yet to win.

I don't watch prem matches but I did happen to catch the Saint's opener with Man City. After watching that game I'm surprised they're struggling as much as they are.

Just been looking at the stats and although we drew 6 of the first 16 league games it must of been demoralising not getting a win until the last week of November. Like the four goals against united doing the double over QPR is another stat that's easier to remember :)

We were also unbeaten against Spurs, Ipswich, Norwich, West Ham and Coventry that season too.
