Living with a guy from Luton and 10 birds which isn't bad at all. Title: Re: England Poland Post by: mystical_goat on Wednesday, October 17, 2012, 15:49:35 And the link works Sax, ta.

Not yet, but I plan to along with climbing Misti before I go. Have mountain biked down mountains and white water rafted though. Title: Re: England Poland Post by: mystical_goat on Tuesday, November 20, 2012, 15:48:22 Arequipena! Lovely stuff. Have you been up to the Colca Canyon yet? We went down, and up, and down, and up the Colca Canyon at the weekend. Good, but nowhere near as spectacular as the Grand Canyon in the USA. There's some chat about Colca being 3 or 4 times deeper than the GC but it seemed about the same to me having done both in the last few months. Also climbed the local volcano, Misti, which is the hardest thing I have ever done. You walk constantly for 24 hours with a 6 hour sleep in the middle, and trying to breathe at 19,000 feet above sea level is not much fun. World Cups at altitude would be a nightmare. Starting a tour of Cusco, Machu Picchu, the Amazon, and the Galápagos Islands today. Title: Re: England Poland Post by: Anteater on Tuesday, November 20, 2012, 16:53:08 Starting a tour of Cusco, Machu Picchu, the Amazon, and the Galápagos Islands today. Brilliant places, sacred valley is worth visiting too. I'm jealous but then on the other hand I will be in the Town End tonight (another sacred place) You on the train to Machu Picchu or doing the Inca trail? Whichever have a great time, I'm sure you will. Title: Re: England Poland Post by: mystical_goat on Tuesday, November 20, 2012, 18:30:29 Inca Trail - the train is for wimps!
And yes I'm glad that I'm following our season from afar! Title: Re: England Poland Post by: Ardiles on Tuesday, November 20, 2012, 20:27:43 Inca Trail - the train is for wimps! I made the mistake of carrying too many of my own bags on that. Physically, nothing I have done has been more demanding than that (including the two marathons I hobbled round!) But an incredible experience. Good luck. Sort of thing you'll only do once - and you won't forget it. Cusco is great fun as well. Eat lots of carbs while you're there! (Bugger all else to eat in Peru, I know.) |
