Title: Jeremy Wray Post by: Peter Venkman on Monday, October 15, 2012, 08:26:01 I know that you read this forum on occassions so can I say a MASSIVE thank you for your time and efforts over the last 18 or so months.
I have been a supporter of Swindon for near 40 years and you are by far and away the best and most open Chairman that we have had in that time. You always let us supporters know what is happening week in week out and nothing is obviously hidden from us, your communication with fans is absolutely top class. I have met you a couple of times and you are a perfect gentleman and always eloquent and polite. Thank you and I hope that you stay at the club on the board as it would be a huge shame to lose you from STFC. Title: Re: Jeremy Wray Post by: Flashheart on Monday, October 15, 2012, 08:26:42 Seconded
Title: Re: Jeremy Wray Post by: ghanimah on Monday, October 15, 2012, 08:26:43 I can only second those sentiments

Title: Re: Jeremy Wray Post by: WR5 on Monday, October 15, 2012, 08:37:27 well said
Cheers Mr Wray Title: Re: Jeremy Wray Post by: Batch on Monday, October 15, 2012, 08:39:04 Agreed.
Sometyimes I may have moaned about trivial things, but that should be taken as a massive compliment! I'm always moaning about something, so "trivial" is the best possible endorcement. Title: Re: Jeremy Wray Post by: slinky on Monday, October 15, 2012, 08:39:40 Couldn't agree more. Thank you for everything you have done.
Title: Re: Jeremy Wray Post by: Notts red on Monday, October 15, 2012, 08:41:48 Thank you Mr Wray, hope to still see you in and around the County Ground. Top man, Top Chairman.
Title: Re: Jeremy Wray Post by: ronnie21 on Monday, October 15, 2012, 08:47:17 Got to agree with all that has been written, first met him at a fans forum-type thing at the Moonrakers, he stood in for Fitton and received a well deserved round of applause when he was announced. Was gutted when AF stood down, not as much as today though. Hope we will still see you JW and you do not cut your ties completely with STFC.

Title: Re: Jeremy Wray Post by: Honkytonk on Monday, October 15, 2012, 09:49:32 The Wray is dead, long live the Wray.
It has been fantastic to have an open, honest person as our chairman, willing to say no when necessary, but overall someone to have faith in a new manager and provide him with what we needed to get to where we are now. You have rebuilt the club from the wreck it was after 2010/11. Deeply saddened to hear that you're going. If I ever meet you I'm definitely going to buy you a pint. Title: Re: Jeremy Wray Post by: Iffy's Onion Bhaji on Monday, October 15, 2012, 11:31:12 Wray did a fantastic job to help turn this club around. He should get a lot of credit for the work he has done here. Gutted he is going.
Title: Re: Jeremy Wray Post by: Barry Scott on Monday, October 15, 2012, 11:37:03 Jog on Wray you helmet :Ride On Fatbury's Lovestick: Title: Re: Jeremy Wray Post by: blinkpip on Monday, October 15, 2012, 11:41:16 He's the only director I have ever seen going around every game, talking to all his workers and fans saying hello. Never again will we have a board member willing to answer all our questions and be honest.
Top man love by all past and present players. Fair play Jeremy. Title: Re: Jeremy Wray Post by: pauld on Monday, October 15, 2012, 11:42:50 He's the only director I have ever seen going around every game, talking to all his workers and fans saying hello. Never again will we have a board member willing to answer all our questions and be honest. Not wishing to undermine your Wray-love (cos you're absolutely right) but Nick Watkins also does this.Title: Re: Jeremy Wray Post by: blinkpip on Monday, October 15, 2012, 11:44:32 :-[ and him sorry
Title: Re: Jeremy Wray Post by: horlock07 on Monday, October 15, 2012, 11:47:56 Not wishing to undermine your Wray-love (cos you're absolutely right) but Nick Watkins also does this. Not sure how you can say never again, Patey may insist on hugging everyone as they leave? Title: Re: Jeremy Wray Post by: pauld on Monday, October 15, 2012, 11:51:29 Not sure how you can say never again, Patey may insist on hugging everyone as they leave? I'd be looking for more of a tickle tbh, less faux-sincere and more playful.Title: Re: Jeremy Wray Post by: fittons_coaching_badge on Monday, October 15, 2012, 11:58:05 I reckon PDC and Watkins will follow. Fairly plain to see Black wants to take the club in a different direction. That could involve a total board and management reshuffle!
Title: Re: Jeremy Wray Post by: nevillew on Monday, October 15, 2012, 12:17:53 Not sure how you can say never again, Patey may insist on hugging everyone as they leave? A sort of Matey-Patey you mean? Title: Re: Re: Re: Jeremy Wray Post by: herthab on Monday, October 15, 2012, 12:23:53 I reckon PDC and Watkins will follow. Fairly plain to see Black wants to take the club in a different direction. That could involve a total board and management reshuffle! Fucking hell! That's some insight you've got! Maybe Black just wants someone willing to rein PdC in a little?Title: Re: Jeremy Wray Post by: 4D on Monday, October 15, 2012, 12:26:47 A sort of Matey-Patey you mean? "Mateys a bottle of fun, you put me in the bath...." for our older members. Title: Re: Jeremy Wray Post by: wokinghamred on Monday, October 15, 2012, 13:12:03 Maybe they are paying Patey £60K a year less than Wray, to get us back under the salary cap. Thats why they made the change, to keep Paolo happy !
Title: Re: Jeremy Wray Post by: Paolo69 on Monday, October 15, 2012, 13:21:58 Maybe they are paying Patey £60K a year less than Wray, to get us back under the salary cap. Thats why they made the change, to keep Paolo happy ! That works but only if we imagine Jezza was signed on as a mystery centre forward. In reality he wasn't part of the playing staff plus he was taking a salary anyway. Shame but nope we'll have to do better in order to "cancel" the embargo. Title: Re: Jeremy Wray Post by: LittleRed on Monday, October 15, 2012, 14:07:31 I was going to ask the town end for a Jeremy wray chant as i was of the opinion that he was as instrumental to our success as paolo. Oh pooooooo!
Title: Re: Jeremy Wray Post by: Shaw Rosso on Monday, October 15, 2012, 16:03:37 Jeremy was a class act in his time as interim/chairman, a decent guy, approachable and we know he reads the TEF, so thanks Jeremy, hopefully he can come back and watch what he was a major part of what has been created at our club.
If Paolo goes, that's his choice. My guess is he would want to see the project achieved but either way we will still have Swindon Town. Some of the responses on Twitter are frankly a joke and achieve nothing but ridicule from supporters of rival clubs, some of these people need the laptops/phone etc confiscated until this all blows over. Title: Re: Jeremy Wray Post by: Ƭ̵̬̊: The Artist Formerly Known as CWIG on Monday, October 15, 2012, 17:28:36 Own personal fun story about Jeremy, minibus heading to Hartlepool, Swindon flag at the rear, all generally acting like pissed up buffoons, moonying at a coach of girls on a hen do, etc. Jeremy's car sees it and over takes with a big grin on his face giving it the thumbs up.
I've literally never seen a chairman so universally liked by a clubs fan base, there's almost always someone out there who has a bad word to say about a chairman but not Jeremy. I can't imagine he'd go short of a few bought pints in the pubs of Swindon for a long time. Title: Re: Jeremy Wray Post by: LittleRed on Sunday, November 4, 2012, 17:12:02 Why? Just generally thought he was a good chairman and got pdc what he wanted. Not sure about this new guy. Just hope he is not one of those guys that tells u what u want to hear. Suppose it's a case of better the devil u know really. I thought I could see mr wray from the drs sat by the steps. Good to see that there is no hard feelings and that he still feels welcome. Might change his mind and be on the board. |
