Title: Old sayings and phrases
Post by: Mother Brown on Monday, October 1, 2012, 22:13:42
Cant believe that i said "youre about as bright  a Toch H lamp" to my youngest tonight.
Can remember my mum saying it to me when i was a kid.
Where did that come from? . . . wasnt there a TOCH H club in Old town years ago, opposite the Bell in old town?
Another one ,if i told a lie was "thats as far fetched as shit from China" . . and before anybody asks i did have a happy childhood.

The Toc H building is still there down the little road by the Domino's Pizza. It was a similar set-up to the YMCA where people could stay at much reduced rates than a hotel. A few of my old football mates stayed there when apprentices at Plesseys as they did not live in Swindon.
