I have heard a lot of rumours from friends in the entertainment industry that knew him peronally and apparently there has been a lot covered up about him, with his Jersey exploits and masonic connections.

But it is easy to attack a dead man as he cannot answer back.

4-0 up and cruising some older bloke in the Stevenage stand started giving it (very) large from the aisle to the town fans

He had slightly long, oily mousy white hair and started being taunted with Jimmy Savile chants (was it a TEF-er who thought that up)

Never seen a guy shut up so completely and slink back next to his neighbours and start just watching the match intently as if nothing was happening in our end.

One or two chants were a little bit obscene (there are kids present!) but after his ignoring the Jimmy, Jimmy give us a wave chant, he had to then ignore the "You only wave when it's children" chant.  He was well shut up but I missed what started it all at the very beginning....anyone?

He was gobby from the off, i went for a piss after 5 minutes and he was being mouthy then.  Stupid old twat.

He was brilliant. No idea what sparked it but he just went mental.

Some of the chants were very funny.

John Peel has openly admitted it in the past in a book and in interviews apparently from his time in the USA as a radio presenter.

I have heard a lot of people mentioned but I am sure a lot of us will be surprised when we find out.

Obviously not surprised that Freddie Starr is one of them!

A lot of what the Mail has to say on Peel is, surprise surprise, bullshit.
There's a huge difference between shagging underage groupies that know full well what they are doing, even if he suspected that they were underage (which he admitted to anyway), and the deviant activities of Jimmy Savile. If they are going to start tracking down every celebrity that has had sex with underage girls I would imagine there are thousands of them shitting bricks right now....

I never said I approved of what John Peel did (for the record I don't) and I don't suppose he was particularly proud of himself.  However, there is a big difference between what he did (and what countless other celebrities have done) and what Jimmy Savile did.

The headline on the article underneath was either a stroke of genius from the editor or a brilliant faux pas, either way it made I larf.
