Nope. I saw the thread title and almost died! Title: Re: Andy Williams Dead Post by: Ardiles on Wednesday, September 26, 2012, 14:30:50 Without wanting to make light of a great man's demise, maybe a rendition of 'There's only one Andy Williams!' on Saturday?
Title: Re: Andy Williams Dead Post by: nevillew on Wednesday, September 26, 2012, 14:33:01 Definitely not 'Too good to be true'

Title: Re: Andy Williams Dead Post by: The_Doctor on Wednesday, September 26, 2012, 15:04:58 RIP Mr Williams
I've just seen Gazzzzzzzzzzzzzzzza in HMV buying all his albums crying saying how he has been a fan for years! Title: Re: Andy Williams Dead Post by: Mexicano Rojo on Wednesday, September 26, 2012, 15:41:53 poor adje, who am i getting a lift from now?
Title: Re: Andy Williams Dead Post by: Reg Smeeton on Wednesday, September 26, 2012, 15:44:44 I liked the Andy Williams show back in the late 60's when it went with the psychedelic zeitgeist...the Cookie Bear used to crack me up. The Beeb tried something a bit similar with Val Doonican, but it was irredeemably shite....a good effort at jumper fashion but that's about it..

Title: Re: Andy Williams Dead Post by: Reg Smeeton on Wednesday, September 26, 2012, 16:36:24 Cardigans as well as jumpers. OK maybe I should have said knitwear. Title: Re: Andy Williams Dead Post by: adje on Wednesday, September 26, 2012, 16:50:27 Rumours of my death have been greatly exaggerated
Title: Re: Andy Williams Dead Post by: ReadingRed on Wednesday, September 26, 2012, 17:15:11 He did a much better version of "Can't help falling in love" than the UB40 crap they play at the CG too.
Title: Re: Andy Williams Dead Post by: janaage on Wednesday, September 26, 2012, 17:16:39 Oh shit, sad news. It's so easy is one of my all time favourite songs. He had a great voice in his prime and seeing his Christmas specials reminds me of a time when Christmas was a more magical time. Shame the worlds gone to commercial shite these days.
RIP Mr Andy Williams. Very true, probably my favourite version.Title: Re: Andy Williams Dead Post by: janaage on Wednesday, September 26, 2012, 17:47:34 Really don't understand why the club chose to play one of the worst versions of that song to be played every week. Someone needs to have a word.
Title: Re: Andy Williams Dead Post by: thedarkprince on Wednesday, September 26, 2012, 18:27:47 They should play his version at the Colchester game.
Sad loss, only really came to my attention following Austin Powers and that advert that used Music To Watch The Girls By. Quite a career! Title: Re: Andy Williams Dead Post by: leefer on Wednesday, September 26, 2012, 18:48:23 Moon River is a great song.
Title: Re: Andy Williams Dead Post by: leefer on Wednesday, September 26, 2012, 18:59:07 While on the sad thread ex Man City boss John Bond died today........think his lad is coaching at Spurs still.
Title: Re: Andy Williams Dead Post by: Bedford Red on Wednesday, September 26, 2012, 19:57:02 While on the sad thread ex Man City boss John Bond died today........think his lad is coaching at Spurs still. I saw that earlier. Living here, when there used to be Sunday afternoon football in the 70's/early 80's we had "match of the week" with Gerry Harrison commentating. Basically Ipswich one week, Norwich the next, with Luton getting a few appearances and an annual visit to Cambridge/Colchester. So growing up i saw a lot of Norwich on local TV and John Bond was the manager at the time, he had a good team there, i'm always surprised after leaving Man City that he didn't seem to do much elsewhere. Title: Re: Andy Williams Dead Post by: Samdy Gray on Wednesday, September 26, 2012, 20:46:54 Quite a career! Heard on the radio on the drive home today that he had his first hit in the 1944 on a Bing Crosby record and his appearance in the charts was in 2009. A 65 year career, quite phenomenal. |
