Are they perhaps related

Opinions might change if he bigs it up over celebrating if he scores tonight.

He also may earn some respect back if the opposite is true.

I think it will be a restricted celebration but would be nice if we don't get to find out either way.

5. I'd give Cox a standing ovation but Austin's just another player who came (no childish remarks), did well and went.

I go with this, although I would blind the ungrateful fucker with a laser pen given half the chance  :)

I'll show him the same respect he showed the club when he spat his dummy out and handed in a transfer request.

None.

I seem to remember Austin working hard when the rest of the team had given up but basically, as above.

Indeed. Not so much the leaving - but the way that he did it.

I wish it had been more amicable a-la Cox and Parkin. Because he was a bloody good player for us, but tainted it because of the above in my eyes.

No much different from Grant Smith, Matt Heyward and the ilk. But I kind of don't think of him in those terms because he was a local lad and did well!

He jumped off a sinkling ship and bettered himself in the process. I will be getting out the red carpet and providing a selection of prostitutes and cocaine for him

Agree with that, the 'ungenerous' nature of Austin leaving taints his Swindon legacy a tad in my view. That said seeing a player come good in the way he did in Swindon shirt was a privilege - or I certainty I thought so at the time.

I didn't boo him....

Southampton away was legendary for me.

Remember you can only have humility if you have intelligence and despite being one of the best finishers I have ever seen.....he ain't got that.

Good luck to him and thanks for those memories.....Saints away.....Yes!

A bit hypocritical from someone who spat their dummy out and refused to attend league 2 games last season...

I didn't sing but I did laugh. There was nothing (that I heard) that was completely out of order, just off putting for Austin. It worked too it seems.

The "Charlie Charlie Austin song at the end was a nice touch when CA walked round to applaud the fans.

Great game last night, loved it.

He did get a fair amount of stick from the Townend, but clapping all the supporters at the end was a nice touch, fair play to him.

I did chuckle at the "Nice one Benson, nice one son!" chant after we went 1-0 up :)

I didn't booooo and I didn't clap him.

I don't think the stick he got was ott or anything and he clapped at the end and the fans sung his name all a bit something out of nothing really.

Charlie gave some stick and got some stick and everyone made up after the final whistle, it was always going to be this way so no surprises there.

Exactly, he got the ball rolling by saying he wanted to score a hat-trick. All fun and games.

The Burnley number 2 found it funny every time he took a corner in front of us we started singing "Charlies doing your missus".

I applauded him.....did the biz on the pitch for us big style and he showed class last night and could have had a hat trick....glad he didn't though.
Like the way the Town End grudgingly sang his name at the end....for me one of the best strikers i have seen here and the way he left may have dissapointed many but not me.........i have seen it all before.
Don Rogers asked for a transfer in the late sixties...pissed a lot of town fans off at the time and the club refused....any person being offered double money to ply there trade at a higher level will find it hard to refuse.
All in all he got some stick but i get the feeling that many dishing it out were a little bit hesitant about doing so.
