CHARLIE Austin returns to the club to which he owes a debt of gratitude this evening, but the striker plans to abandon sentimentality as he looks to fire his current side into round four of the Capital One Cup. http://www.thisisswindontownfc.co.uk/news/headlines/9946671.Austin_hopes_to_repay_Town_debt___by_scoring_a_hat_trick/?ref=rss Title: Re: Adver News: Austin hopes to repay Town debt - by scoring a hat-trick Post by: Boy About Town on Tuesday, September 25, 2012, 08:15:45 Wouldn't see too many sad Town fans if he is taken off the field on a stretcher tonight I shouldn't imagine.

Speaking of which there are some corkers on there already, thisis readers come into their own with stories like this Title: Re: Adver News: Austin hopes to repay Town debt - by scoring a hat-trick Post by: sheepshagger on Tuesday, September 25, 2012, 08:22:14 FWIW I cant really blame Austin for leaving.....
OK, he might not have gone about it in the best way, unlike Cox, but lets face it he was single handedly trying to keep us up that season !! He jumped the sinking ship, no question, but wouldn't most of us done the same ? Risk staying, be relegated and lose a "big" move - or take the chance In any other walk of life he would be congratulated on his timing :) Title: Re: Adver News: Austin hopes to repay Town debt - by scoring a hat-trick Post by: Gnasher on Tuesday, September 25, 2012, 08:23:50 Hands up how many of you said 'cunt' when reading this headline!

Speaking of which there are some corkers on there already, thisis readers come into their own with stories like this I do not post on thisis, perhaps you could post it for me if you wish. Austin mugged the club off, hardly a good interview about the club that gave him the chance to shine, he would not be at Burnley if it were not for our club. We would have survived had he not left. Simple. Title: Re: Adver News: Austin hopes to repay Town debt - by scoring a hat-trick Post by: DMR on Tuesday, September 25, 2012, 08:26:41 I am certainly in the 'Austin is a bit of a dick' camp and this interview only reaffirms that opinion.

We would have survived had he not left. Simple. Maybe, but then we wouldn't have got relegated, thus probably not appointed Di Canio and subsequently not won silverware Title: Re: Adver News: Austin hopes to repay Town debt - by scoring a hat-trick Post by: The Grim Reaper on Tuesday, September 25, 2012, 08:27:42 Hopefully Austin will have a stinker tonight then carry on banging the goals in for Burnley for the rest of the season. I'm assuming Fitton added a sell on clause of around 20%?

Hes won me too much money anyway to care Title: Re: Adver News: Austin hopes to repay Town debt - by scoring a hat-trick Post by: Abrahammer on Tuesday, September 25, 2012, 08:30:58 This has been done to death but FWIW he didn't owe us anything and he made a move that was best for his career.
99% of us would have probably done the same in his position. Title: Re: Adver News: Austin hopes to repay Town debt - by scoring a hat-trick Post by: Ardiles on Tuesday, September 25, 2012, 08:40:08 Wouldn't see too many sad Town fans if he is taken off the field on a stretcher tonight I shouldn't imagine. Grow up. We would have survived had he not left. Simple. It's not simple at all and, although we can never prove it, my hunch is that you're wrong about this. When Austin left us, we were in 20th place on 29 points (from 26 games). Rovers and Yeovil were immediately below us, both on 27 points and both with a game in hand. We were hardly sitting pretty. The squad was beset by factions and the Manager did not seem to want to fix this. He had also run out of ideas. We were heading down, and Charlie Austin knew it. I know that football inspires a lot of passion, but find all this 'hero one minute, villain the next', black & white, for us or against us rubbish is all a bit childish. Charlie Austin came to Swindon as a gamble, did very well for us, and then - when he saw the mess that STFC was mired in - took the hint and moved on to better things. He owes us nothing. Title: Re: Adver News: Austin hopes to repay Town debt - by scoring a hat-trick Post by: Barry Scott on Tuesday, September 25, 2012, 08:53:58 He owes us nothing. Disagree with this massively. I think be does also, after all, why be interviewed on Sky and thank Poole and Bournemouth (and not Swindon) for helping his career? The bloke's a Grade A cock who I have no liking for at all - he's Michael Rose with talent. Title: Re: Adver News: Austin hopes to repay Town debt - by scoring a hat-trick Post by: Nemo on Tuesday, September 25, 2012, 08:54:32 Also he went to Burnley and got crocked almost instantly with a pre-existing shoulder injury. If he'd have done that at Town we'd have still gone down and sold him for even less in the summer.

With our recent results against higher league opposition, they're there for the taking. It's a shame he left the way he did but that's football. He probably quadrupled his wages and has proved he was better than the level he was playing at, which we all knew anyway. We made bloody good money on him and when he's banging them in in the prem we can say he learnt that at Swindon Title: Re: Adver News: Austin hopes to repay Town debt - by scoring a hat-trick Post by: FatSmurf on Tuesday, September 25, 2012, 09:09:44 Anyone who sleeps with another mans wife must be a bit of a scumbag but to do it to a work colleague, that is pretty low. He is clearly a bit of an arse and we had no choice but to get rid.
Title: Re: Adver News: Austin hopes to repay Town debt - by scoring a hat-trick Post by: sonicyouth on Tuesday, September 25, 2012, 09:16:37 i am glad we have the intelligentsia of thisis to inform us all that Austin is solely responsible for our relegation that season, despite his departure halfway through the season, a manager who lost the plot, players who collectively had less bottle than a recovering alcoholic and Paul Hart
Title: Re: Adver News: Austin hopes to repay Town debt - by scoring a hat-trick Post by: Bogus Dave on Tuesday, September 25, 2012, 09:43:26 Given all the bullshit which got spouted about his personal life, I don't blame him for leaving.
From what I remember he always seemed quite complimentary about us when he was on twitter too. Title: Re: Re: Re: Adver News: Austin hopes to repay Town debt - by scoring a hat-trick Post by: tans on Tuesday, September 25, 2012, 09:48:28 From what I remember he always seemed quite complimentary about us when he was on twitter too. Yeah he was. He took the piss out of oxford aswell, much to their fans disgust :D Title: Re: Adver News: Austin hopes to repay Town debt - by scoring a hat-trick Post by: Anteater on Tuesday, September 25, 2012, 09:53:43 Austin Shmostin Agree with this. With our recent results against higher league opposition, they're there for the taking. Couldn't care less about Austin, won't boo him but won't applaud him either. Gonna be too busy cheering us on! Title: Re: Adver News: Austin hopes to repay Town debt - by scoring a hat-trick Post by: Notts red on Tuesday, September 25, 2012, 10:04:25 It's been proved on here Austin will get a mixed reception tonight. Just don't want the Town End singing " Charlie, Charlie what's the score" and him banging in a couple of late ones including the winner.

I would be happy with us going 3 goals up and then singing "Charlie Charlie whats the score" and then he gets a late consolation.Title: Re: Adver News: Austin hopes to repay Town debt - by scoring a hat-trick Post by: Notts red on Tuesday, September 25, 2012, 10:15:50 I would be happy with us going 3 goals up and then singing "Charlie Charlie whats the score" and then he gets a late consolation. I'd be more than happy with that. Remember the Mooney one at Wycombe although that was only an equaliser >:(Title: Re: Adver News: Austin hopes to repay Town debt - by scoring a hat-trick Post by: janaage on Tuesday, September 25, 2012, 10:50:51 Charlie Austin, the best finisher this club has had for years. He'll continue to do well at Burnley and end up in the Premier League and good luck to him.
Not interested in his private life, but wish him well professionally. Just wish he had a scottish grand parent. As mentioned previously when he left and in the 18 months since, good footballer, something of a dick, we move on Title: Re: Adver News: Austin hopes to repay Town debt - by scoring a hat-trick Post by: horlock07 on Tuesday, September 25, 2012, 11:48:12 I always assumed Austin was a bit of an idiot and this does little to change that opinion.
I must admit that I read the story and thought it was a bit annoying, them I remembered that he doesn't play for us anymore and thus I really don't care what he has to say! Title: Re: Adver News: Austin hopes to repay Town debt - by scoring a hat-trick Post by: Coca Fola on Tuesday, September 25, 2012, 12:26:11 Charlie Austin is twat. Had he left and not handed in a transfer request he would be up there with Cox and Parkin but forcing a move from a club that gives you a chance in the football league after only 14 months? He doesn't deserve a good reception and it's his own fault.
Title: Re: Adver News: Austin hopes to repay Town debt - by scoring a hat-trick Post by: fittons_coaching_badge on Tuesday, September 25, 2012, 12:36:49 I think some people take this far to seriously! People can boo him if they want. He wont give a fuck and I cant be arsed!
Austin did play for us, did well, and doesnt any more. However we still have a significant interest in his future as we will benefit financially when he moves on. Yes he could have been a legend like Cox or Parkin. Well Cox left Swindon and his career spent the next 3 years stagnating on the WBA bench and thus we made fuck all when he moved as he hadnt played any football. Parkin a tad different because of injury but we got the best of him. Austin moved on and has proven his quality at a higher level than we could offer and thus in the next 12/18 months will find himself playing premier league football and as a result we will be £1m or £2m better off! Agree. The best finisher at the club since Shearer. His game also improved by fucingm iles from the player who made his debut to the player who left - albeit he didn't give a fuck the last few games but was only in catch up mode to the majorirty of the other lazy useless cunts. From what I remember he always seemed quite complimentary about us when he was on twitter too.
