Title: PDC keeping quiet again...
Post by: König on Monday, August 20, 2012, 14:03:38
"Paolo Di Canio chose not to hold his usual pre-match press call today. No reason given. Matt Ritchie and James Collins spoke to media."

From Sam Morshead's Twitter...

Doesn't bother me - much rather that than him having to field silly questions about Caddis which will then get misquoted across the various media, and thus fuel wild speculation.

Tbh Di Canio's antics make me a little nervous. It's fine with a winning team but given the inevitable bad patch we'll experience during the season it's probably best not to piss your local media off

Good, hopefully he is learning to stop spouting crap to the media.

He goes from one extreme timescales another; tell them everything they want to know then nothing ;D

I don't think he is often misquoted.

Clearly he does a hell of a lot right of things right as manager, but maintaining some sort of decorum in front of the press is not one of them.

This doesn't worry me any more.  Just looks as if the press have ticked him off to such a degree that he's pretending they don't exist for a week or two, or however long he feels like ignoring them for.  I know I'm speculating...but if I'm right, it's actually quite a good way to get your point across.

I think he's probably just too busy watching the cricket.

He's a wise man!  Saffer still strong favourites but good to see England making a fight of this!

Where has he been misquoted?
Playing his interview and printing his words aint the medias fault

"Manager Paolo Di Canio spoke to STFC Player ahead of Tuesday night's home clash with Crawley Town. See the full interview shortly #STFC"

Seems he's just refusing to speak to the adver and BBC Wilts.

Maybe he's pissed at how they've covered the who Caddis saga?

I would say that is a fair assumption of the situation  he seems really pissed off at the way the BBC have handled this and are creating a divide between the supporters they are certainly doing a good job of breeding negative vibes on thisis

If i remember correctly, Sir Alex wouldn't talk to certain media networks at one point.  Didn't do him any harm!!

Just my opinion but i think the front page caddis story has fucked him off.

The trouble is with local media being sensationalist and over the top is that unlike the nationals, I don't expect it sells anymore at all. When I used to buy the adver, I wanted to hear the local media give a biased and positive opinion on the club which represents the town they report upon.

It's why lefties buy the Guardian and righties buy The Daily Mail. We want to read opinions that support our own. The Guardian shouldn't be reporting on how immigrants are causing cancer and in the same way the Adver should not be sensationalising negative shit to do with Swindon Town FC. People will buy it either way, so why drive a wedge between fans and club?

I think Caddis going on Radio Wilts last week has pissed him off, probably not authorised/arranged by the club or something like that. Bit harsh on Adver Sam if that is the case

Don't the media usually have to go through the club to interview players? Can't imagine Caddis strolled into the BBC and gave his two penneth without the club being aware.

Just listening to the interview on STFC World, he doesnt sound particularly upset, praising the team mostly, no mention of anything untoward at all.

Although he does say the word "magnifi-cunt" at one stage, just goes on to talk about fitness levels.

With everything that is going on I would be a little surprised if the club gave Caddis permission?

Fucking hell, are there any other type of vibes on thisis? It's a hideous clique of old mongs talking about how good it was in their day blah blah blah. Hopefully a severe winter with a strong flu virus will see most of them off.

Meh, if Paolo wants to sulk and not hold interviews then there isn't much anyone can do.

If he think the local rag/radio has over "sensationalised" then he ain't cut out for managing in the premier league, the red tops are in a different class altogether.

Maybe he just wants to avoid talking about the Caddis saga further.

Maybe he's got an important game to concentrate on?

Title: Re: PDC keeping quiet again...

Never dodged the press before an important game before, well that I can remember.

True - but perhaps this week (and what with having games Tuesday, Saturday, Tuesday) he just wants to prepare for the game without any distractions?

I remember when we were shit and Wilson still spoke to the press every week - just wanted him to shut the fuck up and concentrate on trying to win some fucking football matches.

Maybe, but in my mind he wouldn't have bothered with the official site if it was that.

I think the Adver front page and BBC RS Caddis stories are the likely cause. Probably find out he has laryngitis now I've said that.

I don't really give too much of a fuck whether he speaks to the press or not. Winning or losing games, yes, talking to the press, no.

Adver Sam's probably not endearing himself to the club at the moment.  The headline for Saturday's match report is pathetic,  he seems to have got totally hung up on the distance the fans travelled for a 'disjointed' performance with no goals.  The whole report is reasonably negative.  Imagine if he'd been reporting on the Town games in 2010/11!

I think he may be a bit too important for The Adver nowadays
