I applied for a job and they have just emailed me saying they will be arranging a Skpe interview.

Just wondering if anyone on here has ever had one of these?

Should I be suiting up?

Also, this company facebook messaged me about this job, naming me on the message asking me to apply despite the fact they're not launching in my uni city, why would they offer me an interview with no plans to launch in Plymouth yet?!
I said in reply on facebook and the actual application that I was unable to work anywhere but Plymouth.

Any theories on this?
The job is as a "Marketing manager" for a new company launching a discount card aimed at students.

You sure it's not a brand ambassador role? lots of companies hire up students to plug their products on campus

I think they do, if only to make sure the person isn't a stark raving mad man. Which would explain why it's only a skype call.

I strongly suspect as you've not yet completed your degree and have no experience you haven't actually been offered a genuine 'marketing manager' position no matter how they word it...

Just have the Skype interview, you've got nothing to lose. Ask them why did they invite you to an interview if they're not launching in Plymouth as it seems like a waste of everyone's time?

Yeah, but mosh a bit as well, like you've completely forgotten they're there. Then suddenly act startled and stare at the webcam, like you've just woken up and you're deeply suspicious of the people you're looking at. Then ask them if they're pedophiles.

A job application/interview request via Facebook? Bit dodgy perhaps? Not very proffesional.

I thought that at first, but most of these companies "run by students for students" type thing use facebook as pretty much everyone they're targeting is on there.

Potentially less interest via normal recruitment method's I would think.

I've been out of work for bloody ages.

I have my 6th interview for a job tomorrow - the 2nd with the CEO.
If it takes this long to make a decision, makes you wonder if they're worth working for !

It may be worth asking them if they need anything else from you before you leave the next interview, as you my be able to seal the deal there and then.
