Title: new official site Post by: Kinky Tom on Wednesday, July 25, 2012, 16:51:19 any thoughts?
i think after a what seems to be a couple of minor alterations it now looks ok, thought it looked awful earlier on. Title: Re: new official site Post by: ghanimah on Wednesday, July 25, 2012, 17:02:21 I'm not sure it's an improvement, it still looks a mess. Does that mean we're now no longer part of city-visitor deal?
Title: Re: new official site Post by: suttonred on Wednesday, July 25, 2012, 17:03:46 Is it a different url? Looks the same to me as it's always done.
Title: Re: new official site Post by: Flashheart on Wednesday, July 25, 2012, 17:28:20 New sites always look weird at first

Title: Re: new official site Post by: Batch on Wednesday, July 25, 2012, 18:21:05 New sites always look weird at first The abomination that is the BBC homepage and sport still looks shit months on. Title: Re: new official site Post by: Samdy Gray on Wednesday, July 25, 2012, 18:24:19 What changes? Looks exactly as it has done for the last 3 years or so.
Title: Re: new official site Post by: suttonred on Wednesday, July 25, 2012, 18:24:38 Yeah had a cached page. By christ what a mess, that is terrible.
Title: Re: new official site Post by: Ƭ̵̬̊: The Artist Formerly Known as CWIG on Wednesday, July 25, 2012, 18:27:20 doesn't seem to want to let me see it for now. saw the Northampton one that was linked to on fb though and i take it it's the same....will take some getting used to.
Title: Re: new official site Post by: Gnasher on Wednesday, July 25, 2012, 18:32:18 I've ctrl F5'd in Firefox and IE and it still looks the same!
Title: Re: new official site Post by: König on Wednesday, July 25, 2012, 18:33:34 Yeah had a cached page. By christ what a mess, that is terrible. how do you un-cache it? Title: Re: new official site Post by: Batch on Wednesday, July 25, 2012, 18:33:37 Either they've pulled it or a nameserver/DNS update is slowly making its way through the internet over the next day.
Looks same here. Title: Re: new official site Post by: Tails on Wednesday, July 25, 2012, 18:34:12 Not a fan but Ill get used to it!
Title: Re: new official site Post by: Bob's Orange on Wednesday, July 25, 2012, 18:34:54 Are people using this in error?
http://www.swindontownfc.com/ Title: Re: new official site Post by: Flashheart on Wednesday, July 25, 2012, 18:36:59 I did have the new one, but now I'm back to the old one.
Title: Re: new official site Post by: nochee on Wednesday, July 25, 2012, 18:37:25 Are people using this in error? http://www.swindontownfc.com/ I was hoping that was the improvement. Anyone fancy a Vietnamese? Title: Re: new official site Post by: Bob's Orange on Wednesday, July 25, 2012, 18:37:56 I don't have a new one.
Title: Re: new official site Post by: Ƭ̵̬̊: The Artist Formerly Known as CWIG on Wednesday, July 25, 2012, 18:52:28 it's now given me the new one...and as a ufc fan it looks pretty familiar www.ufc.com (http://www.ufc.com)
Title: Re: new official site Post by: guy66 on Wednesday, July 25, 2012, 19:33:36 I think its great....well any excuse to waste a few hours at work getting used to it has to be a good thing :)
Title: Re: new official site Post by: Batch on Wednesday, July 25, 2012, 19:37:02 Now I see it.
Is it me or is everything, erm, chunky. At least the links are still at the top of the page. Looks a bit like its from 1997, but then again the old site wasn't top of class either. Title: Re: new official site Post by: Shaw Rosso on Wednesday, July 25, 2012, 20:23:18 Same site for me :hmmm:
Title: Re: new official site Post by: Batch on Wednesday, July 25, 2012, 20:26:41 Yeah, back to the original for me too. Think its changed where http://www.swindontownfc.co.uk redirects to and is filtering through the t'internet. It'll probably be OK by tomorrow.
Title: Re: new official site Post by: Sippo on Wednesday, July 25, 2012, 21:22:54 Is this going to be the same style for all clubs or are we moving away from the 'generic' ones?
Title: Re: new official site Post by: Batch on Wednesday, July 25, 2012, 21:24:53 From what I read there is a choice of templates. Not sure how many templates, but all clubs will conform to one of them.
Title: Re: new official site Post by: slinky on Wednesday, July 25, 2012, 21:36:27 Same for me. Will try again tomorrow.
Title: Re: new official site Post by: suttonred on Wednesday, July 25, 2012, 22:27:35 Either they've pulled it or a nameserver/DNS update is slowly making its way through the internet over the next day. Looks same here. Yeah def dns change slow if people having problems still Title: Re: Re: new official site Post by: pericarp on Wednesday, July 25, 2012, 22:36:46 I like it. But loading it on a phone is a right bitch. Gives my S2 a spasm.
Title: Re: new official site Post by: A Gent Orange on Thursday, July 26, 2012, 06:46:45 Not very good on the iPhone either. And that is with wifi. Can't see me using it at all on the move.
Luckily no one uses mobile phones to look at the Internet. Title: Re: new official site Post by: Peter Venkman on Thursday, July 26, 2012, 07:48:13 it looks different therefore it is evil Agreed.Title: Re: new official site Post by: Samdy Gray on Thursday, July 26, 2012, 07:57:11 I can see it now from work.
Jeez, that's awful. Looks like something I could've knocked up in Frontpage back in 1997. Title: Re: new official site Post by: Bob's Orange on Thursday, July 26, 2012, 08:30:32 Its still the old one for me.
Title: Re: new official site Post by: Ardiles on Thursday, July 26, 2012, 08:34:48 I never really look at the official site. The Town End, the Washbag and the Adver cover it all for me.
Title: Re: Re: Re: new official site Post by: Batch on Thursday, July 26, 2012, 09:05:28 I can see it now from work. Jeez, that's awful. Looks like something I could've knocked up in Frontpage back in 1997. Seemsto be a depressing trend at the moment. Still, at least it is easier to navigate than the bbc sport website. Title: Re: new official site Post by: pericarp on Thursday, July 26, 2012, 09:32:55 Got used to the BBC website now.
Title: Re: new official site Post by: TheMajorSTFC on Thursday, July 26, 2012, 09:38:45 I'm only seeing the old one too
Title: Re: new official site Post by: OOH! SHAUN TAYLOR on Thursday, July 26, 2012, 17:41:34 I've finally got the new format. I think it looks great. A vast improvement on the old one.
Title: Re: new official site Post by: LittleRed on Thursday, July 26, 2012, 18:46:35 It's much nicer. An improvement and therefore better for stfc. Good idea maybe for a view from each area of the ground when selecting ur seat.
Title: Re: new official site Post by: ronnie21 on Thursday, July 26, 2012, 19:05:52 I've finally got the new format. I think it looks great. A vast improvement on the old one. I'm only getting the old one, how do you change it? Different url?Title: Re: new official site Post by: OOH! SHAUN TAYLOR on Thursday, July 26, 2012, 19:07:44 I'm only getting the old one, how do you change it? Different url? Between you and me ronnie....fuck knows..it was just suddenly there... ??? Title: Re: new official site Post by: suttonred on Thursday, July 26, 2012, 19:10:19 I'm only getting the old one, how do you change it? Different url? Keep quiet and use the old one! I cant see how anyone can say it's better, it's like they've let a blind guy on acid with no knowledge of what a website should be loose on it. Title: Re: new official site Post by: slinky on Thursday, July 26, 2012, 19:15:25 Got the new one earlier and now back to the old one. Hardly a seamless transition this.
Title: Re: new official site Post by: fatbasher on Thursday, July 26, 2012, 19:15:48 Keep quiet and use the old one! I cant see how anyone can say it's better, it's like they've let a blind guy on acid with no knowledge of what a website should be loose on it. Agree, it's pants Nick, pants. The old one was dated but you could find what you wanted easily. This one won't even let find the fixtures even when I click the relevent tabs. Title: Re: new official site Post by: OOH! SHAUN TAYLOR on Thursday, July 26, 2012, 19:18:02 Agree, it's pants Nick, pants. Works for me. Doesn't show the pre-season fixtures though. The old one was dated but you could find what you wanted easily. This one won't even let find the fixtures even when I click the relevent tabs. Title: Re: new official site Post by: slinky on Thursday, July 26, 2012, 19:24:46 The old site has a link with ticket details for the Supermarine game on Monday. The link however takes you to the town player.
Title: Re: new official site Post by: Batch on Thursday, July 26, 2012, 19:29:21 Something has broken since yesterday. Fixture list keeps reloading the home page (firefox).
It didn't yesterday...It showed all fixtures (including pre-season). Title: Re: new official site Post by: jonny72 on Thursday, July 26, 2012, 19:59:13 Doesn't seem to have been planned or executed very well.
Should have moved the domain to a name server with a short ttl, to avoid the dns cascade and caching delay. Old site has been left active with out of date information. Mobile site is very slow to load and even when it does it simply doesn't work. Can't get the new site on my laptop, no doubt the old dns is being cached but I really can't be arsed to do anything about it. Not the best time to update it either, ideal time would have been straight after the end of last season. Title: Re: new official site Post by: Gnasher on Thursday, July 26, 2012, 20:16:02 My first thought was confusing and messy. Yes, image-based websites sell products better than text-based sites, but I just want to read news and information about my club!
Title: Re: new official site Post by: Bob's Orange on Thursday, July 26, 2012, 20:40:37 I'm sure I am pointing out the bleeding obvious, but Its not just us that has the new format, seems a number of football league clubs use the same website format so I guess this is website wide, rather than a Swindon decision.
Title: Re: new official site Post by: Flashheart on Thursday, July 26, 2012, 20:43:18 I just want the commentary to work.
Title: Re: new official site Post by: OOH! SHAUN TAYLOR on Wednesday, August 1, 2012, 18:10:16 I've changed my mind. It's actually a bit shit. None of the links to STFC Player work and it just doesn't work properly :crash:
Title: Re: new official site Post by: janaage on Wednesday, August 1, 2012, 18:14:15 Don't like it at all.
Title: Re: new official site Post by: Langers on Wednesday, August 1, 2012, 18:19:58 It just seems a bit unorganised and most of the images don't seem to actually appear.
Title: Re: new official site Post by: Gnasher on Wednesday, August 1, 2012, 18:41:23 I love the way one sentence of every news article scrolls on to a second page :crash:
Title: Re: new official site Post by: Batch on Wednesday, August 1, 2012, 18:52:22 Don't like it at all. I gave it a week and I agree. Too cluttered/broken/rubbish. Don't use the OS that much anyway, so I won't lose sleep over it. Title: Re: new official site Post by: Costanza on Wednesday, August 1, 2012, 18:53:57 I use the official site less and less these days due to getting news quicker elsewhere.
The new design is fine, I've experienced no problems thus far. Title: Re: Re: new official site Post by: pericarp on Wednesday, August 1, 2012, 23:33:41 I think its not too bad
They seriously need to develop.a mobile version of the site however. It's impossible to run the site on a phone. Title: Re: new official site Post by: Paolo69 on Wednesday, August 22, 2012, 09:22:57 The new site is rubbish!
Not helped by them not updating it. Where is the news re. the Stoke and Scum tickets? Title: Re: new official site Post by: wokinghamred on Wednesday, August 22, 2012, 11:43:11 I really dislike the new site.
I've given it a few weeks, to give it a chance, but it is crap. I went on there today to look up something about the coaching staff, but if you click on coaching staff it takes you to Aden Flints view of last night. I would love to know how the site traffic is doing. Still, I got what I wanted from Wikipedia, so no need to use the official site. Title: Re: new official site Post by: Shaw Rosso on Wednesday, August 22, 2012, 11:46:12 The fixtures list is rather poor and it takes several clicks on the same link on Player to view a video
