Title: Football on that normal telly thing Post by: Saxondale on Friday, July 20, 2012, 14:37:08 Just a heads up this afternoon some ladies footy is on bbc 1 so you can all watch and think, 'shes quite fit, there not bad , just slow and crap goalkeepers' and the other stuff you normally think whilst this is on.
Later on on BBC1 its the great British olympic blokes football team against the Brazilian equivalent. Might be quite interesting and for the football starved a god send. Title: Re: Football on that normal telly thing Post by: Saxondale on Friday, July 20, 2012, 15:05:31 Well you can just watch the bigger boys playing later instead.
Title: Re: Football on that normal telly thing Post by: Costanza on Friday, July 20, 2012, 15:30:40 I would have gone to Riverside for the Brazil game had I stayed in the North East. It was announced a couple of weeks after I left which was typical.
The GB Team squad doesn't excite me but it would have been a good chance to see some of the players that Tim Vickery has been talking about for years on the World Football Phone-In (Neymar and Ganso etc) Title: Re: Football on that normal telly thing Post by: Saxondale on Friday, July 20, 2012, 18:28:18 Neymar, Hulk and Oscar all start for Brazil. Alexandre Pato is on the bench. I think they might win.
Title: Re: Football on that normal telly thing Post by: walcot red on Friday, July 20, 2012, 18:41:04 I'm looking forward to this, it would be good to see what a British on a world stage, would we do better then an England team?
Title: Re: Football on that normal telly thing Post by: walcot red on Friday, July 20, 2012, 18:55:43 Where's the atmosphere? there's no singing.
Title: Re: Football on that normal telly thing Post by: Dozno9 on Friday, July 20, 2012, 19:43:20 This is fucking dire.
No atmosphere, no nothing. Title: Re: Football on that normal telly thing Post by: stfcinbmth on Friday, July 20, 2012, 19:52:09 You seem surprised. It's not League footy is it
Title: Re: Football on that normal telly thing Post by: Ardiles on Friday, July 20, 2012, 19:58:58 The GB football team is the bastard spawn of Sepp Blatter and Seb Coe. The kind, humane course of action would have been to drown it at birth. What did you expect?

Well saidTitle: Re: Football on that normal telly thing Post by: Costanza on Friday, July 20, 2012, 20:18:52 The atmosphere will be like this for the overwhelming majority of Olympic games I expect.
For the double-header I'm going to it's Spain vs. Honduras up first. I fully expect Japan vs. Morocco to be half empty. Title: Re: Football on that normal telly thing Post by: Coca Fola on Friday, July 20, 2012, 20:55:24 Why do we compete as Great Britain and Northern Ireland at the Olympics and not as the UK?
Title: Re: Football on that normal telly thing Post by: reeves4england on Friday, July 20, 2012, 21:31:10 Didn't think that was too bad a performance, given that they were playing against one of the top sides, they've only been together a week, most of them aren't match fit, and they've never played ninety minutes together. Showed some promise in the second half.
Oh and Neymar might be talented but his cheating was pathetic. Title: Re: Football on that normal telly thing Post by: Ƭ̵̬̊: The Artist Formerly Known as CWIG on Saturday, July 21, 2012, 08:20:32 Why do we compete as Great Britain and Northern Ireland at the Olympics and not as the UK? Essentially the same thing. Title: Re: Football on that normal telly thing Post by: Coca Fola on Saturday, July 21, 2012, 08:26:49 Yeah but UK is much shorter than GB and N.I. and incorporates Northern Ireland anyway. Seems logical.
Title: Re: Football on that normal telly thing Post by: Batch on Saturday, July 21, 2012, 09:41:05 Why do we compete as Great Britain and Northern Ireland at the Olympics and not as the UK? Basically, its historical that we enter as GBR.. http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/rogermosey/2009/09/why_team_gb.html1111 Quote But the key points are that we've entered the Olympics as Great Britain since the modern era began in 1896 and the recognised international abbreviation is "GBR". Title: Re: Football on that normal telly thing Post by: Coca Fola on Saturday, July 21, 2012, 17:54:17 I see.
