Title: Sky at it again!
Post by: kerry red on Monday, July 16, 2012, 09:35:35
Not content with their scaremongering 'special report' on how everyone attending the Euros would be killed by Polish/Ukraine hooligans, they are keeping up the good work with their new 'special report' on the Olympics.

Apparently there are going to be gangs (foreign, of course) of pickpockets ready to fleece spectators.

It is noticeable these reports are always on events they don't have the rights to televise

Aren't there loads of pickpockets in London (and most other big crowded cities) all year round? A hooker once nicked my expired tube ticket in Barcelona at some traffic lights... if she'd gone for the other pocket, there was about 300 Euro in cash. I don't think taunting her about that after helped much...

There's also a racism in football on bbc3 tonight I think.

It's getting so boring now.

BBC 3? I get that on Sky.

Fucking Sky.

It's not just Sky, the reaction to the Terry verdict was way over the top from a lot of the media. Can't believe they made so much out of the foul language players use, personally I found the magistrates written findings hilarious - there is something intrinsically funny in an official document containing the phrase "at which point he replied you're a fucking knob head". Somewhat surprising as well as I thought that phrase went out of fashion years ago.

I watched the BBC3 programme and I thought it was fairly decent, but with such a complicated topic was never going to really break any major ground in an hour. First time I've seen Clarke Carlisle in the media and was impressed with the direction of the programme. Jermaine Jenas was surprisingly articulate as well.

I would have liked to have seen the programme focus on some former players who never got their chance to manage because Barnes has had his and blown them i.e. is he a bit bitter about that?

All in all the fans care about what happens on the pitch and in the stands and not really employer discrimination which may or may not be happening. Do the fans need an awareness of this? I think it's down to the profession to be more open and public.

Can't believe Kickitout only runs on £500k a year too.

On the black managers thing, it would be interesting to look at how many black coaches apply for such jobs, and compare the black:white ratio of people who complete the FIFA licenses to see the difference between number of black managers and number of interested/qualified black candidates.

As for Barnes, he has proved himself to be a very bad manager whenever given an opportunity, and that has nothing to do with his heritage.

Yeah Barnes made himself look a right prick.

Given the amount of shit clubs are prepared to put up with from footballers and managers in the hunt for glory, I find it hard to believe they would let someone's skin colour affect their decision in appointing managers. It doesn't mean there is discrimination just because the people in a certain job role don't match the make up of the entire population.

How many white English managers are there in the Premier League? Fuck all. This isn't because they're discriminated against, it's because they're fucking shit at the job.

Agreed, you're good enough to do the job or your not regardless of colour, Paul Ince managed Blackburn in the prem and looked out of his depth, he did well in the lower leagues. Isn't the Charlton boss black? he's done a good job there won them the league, and isn't the boss of the English Women's team black? sure it's women's football but why doesn't she get a mention when the media bang on about black managers?

I just didn't understand the need to go to a fierce local derby abroad.

There are monkey chants in this country. It is sad, but racism does still exist. You won't ever get rid of it, as it's only a minority.

That's the other thing, granted Iffy wasn't the best manager in the world but he was black and he got the job, but then sky decide to make a mockery of it by giving us ron atkinson, which only highlighted the fact that a) ron atkinson is a cunt who fucks everything up, and b) they like to make a song and dance over something which generally the majority of fans the country over couldnt care less about, which is the colour of a manager.

if their shit, their shit, nothing else needs to be considered.

Clarke Carlisle said he'd never experienced racism in this country and so did Jermaine Jenas. He went over there to highlight how far we'd come in our country.

Like I said, it wasn't ground breaking but it wasn't sensationalist either. I think it was as balanced as possible in fact.

In football terms, once you go black, you never go back ...

This.

The colour of Iffy's skin didnt even enter my thought stream until someone mentioned it/racism etc etc.
Stop talking about it, and it might go away

(ok, a little simplisitic, but its a thought)
