Title: Socks
Post by: kerry red on Sunday, July 15, 2012, 20:32:50
I do a lot of walking on a daily basis and my bleeding socks are forever getting holes in the heel.

Is there such a thing as a hard-wearing sock?

These might take a while before they wear out

My socks always go in the toes...my solution have about 40 pairs, all of the same colour (black) and it's usually possible to find a few without.

This is particularly annoying when it comes to proper nice walking socks, the thermal sort and quite expensive, because they too go after a few walks as well.

Never have a problem with heels though.

It probably doesn't help that when I walk the greyhounds I am forever in wellies.

I chalk up about 4-5 miles daily

I do frequently....think though it may be because I have strong nails, a result of having been brought up in the 1950's age of daily free school milk. A post war public health move, introduced to counter the prevalence of rickets...and I'm not talking Michael or Rohan.

I remember free school milk, the mini bottles, usually warm and with beak marks in the foil top.  :pint:

Of course, de rigeur for a middle aged fashionista such as myself...I favour this sort of look.

Ah, the Ring of Kerry.

Magnificent.

It truly is a fantastic place to live - albeit hideously expensive.

I'll be sorry to leave

I find putting one of these on each of your big toes does the trick....saves a fortune in socks.

Also for young walkers or sock holers it is invaluable practise for later on in life.

Had forgotten about him....although the early O*ford connection in his history might upset some on here from being reminded about him.

Recall John Francome being asked on radio about a then, forthcoming derby and saying he was a bit torn because Ricketts who was playing for the scum was his nephew.
