Title: Tennis gurus/recriational players Post by: Chubbs on Monday, July 2, 2012, 10:12:46 Started back at a gym this weekend and they have tennis courts, me and the missus are quite partial to tennis so thought we'd start up playing once a week. I havent played since i was at school, so i need a racket/racquet but dont know what to look for in one. Sports Direct has loads on offer some with crazy discount but whice ones are any good?

Every year around Wimbledon I say that I need to start playing again, yet never do. Title: Re: Tennis gurus/recriational players Post by: Chubbs on Monday, July 2, 2012, 10:36:27 Hehe 8) Thats why i dont want to spend too much on equipment, i dont want to use it 3 times then get bored and have a £100 racquet lying aroundEvery year around Wimbledon I say that I need to start playing again, yet never do. Title: Re: Tennis gurus/recriational players Post by: blah blah on Monday, July 2, 2012, 11:08:08 My missus bought me a racket a year or 2 ago from the Donnay shop in the Outlet village, think she said it was reduced from £150 to £30 or something silly. Like you, I am not a serious player just a bit of fun once or twice a year but it seems fine to me. Any new racket will take a bit of getting used to so I would suggest looking for the one with the biggest discount and getting that !

I've been saying that for the last 20 years. Maybe this ear I'll start. I'll have to leave it a few weeks so I don't look like someone who only plays when Wimbledon is on ;) Title: Re: Tennis gurus/recriational players Post by: Bob's Orange on Monday, July 2, 2012, 12:09:41 I try and play most Tuesday evenings and have done for about a year.
I am still crap but its quite good fun. Title: Re: Tennis gurus/recriational players Post by: Processed Beats on Monday, July 2, 2012, 12:46:52 Played tennis for about seven years now.
Best rackets I've used have been Wilson and Babolat, though neither of these are what you'd call 'cheap'. At the end of the day, you want one with a good grip and one you won't need to consistently re-string. Title: Re: Tennis gurus/recriational players Post by: Simon Pieman on Monday, July 2, 2012, 12:58:18 Is there a way of slightly reducing the grip on a racquet? I've decided the one I have is slightly too big for my girly hands
