Title: Carlisle Away Post by: RedOx on Friday, June 29, 2012, 14:40:58 As I am missing the first couple of games due to work and holidays (I know!) I was looking at Carlisle in September.
Train tickets are £32 return from Euston at the moment. Any London Reds or anyone else thinking of making the long trek? :toocool: Title: Re: Carlisle Away Post by: suttonred on Friday, June 29, 2012, 14:48:11 Best away day of the season last couple of times. Be rude not to I think. Normally in the pub there by 12.15!

Title: Re: Carlisle Away Post by: horlock07 on Tuesday, September 4, 2012, 13:40:39 I am going and taking Mrs Horlock07 for a weekend in Carlisle (she liked it when we used to live up there) so we are staying in a B&B.
But I will warn you, when ever I go to games it all goes wrong (Preston last weekend - Stockport 4 years back when Aljofree offered out the entire away end ast half time) so if you think its going to be a good time you have been warned. This is a bit of a long shot - I'm looking to get up to carlisle this weekend and if anyone is driving up there this weekend and has a space in their car I would be incredibly grateful for a lift. The world gurning championships are in ergemont and the train up there is over £100!!! I would be more than happy to chip in for petrol as well. Heres hoping you lot get a result this weekend too. All the very best, Dan Title: Re: Carlisle Away Post by: blinkpip on Thursday, September 13, 2012, 16:56:30 Phone SAS travel tonight and see if they got any spare spaces?
Title: Re: Carlisle Away Post by: erictheexile on Thursday, September 13, 2012, 17:03:23 Looking forward to this one. Closest thing to a home game for me (live in Edinburgh). Any ideas for pre-match drinks? Someone has told me the rugby club beside the ground is ok..
Title: Re: Carlisle Away Post by: reeves4england on Thursday, September 13, 2012, 18:27:02 Undecided on this one. It's the perfect opportunity now I'm living relatively close to Carlisle, but I'm not sure I care enough to spend £30-£40 going to watch, especially after the last couple of games I've witnessed. Will probably decide on Saturday morning!
Title: Re: Carlisle Away Post by: Shaw Rosso on Thursday, September 13, 2012, 18:52:14 Decided this evening to go to this one over Pompey, no idea why but I feel a performance is on the cards here.
Anyone know if we can still buy tickets at the CG tomorrow as its £22 on the day and £19 in advance? Title: Re: Carlisle Away Post by: inept and tiresome on Friday, September 14, 2012, 10:38:42 I am going and taking Mrs Horlock07 for a weekend in Carlisle (she liked it when we used to live up there) so we are staying in a B&B. Same as above. I went to three away games last season, Cheltenham, Burton and Bradford. Didn't see us score ond sodding goal. But I will warn you, when ever I go to games it all goes wrong (Preston last weekend - Stockport 4 years back when Aljofree offered out the entire away end ast half time) so if you think its going to be a good time you have been warned. Picked up this season when I went to Stoke, then fell back a bit with Preston. So with my track record and Horlock 07 probably best if everyone stays away. Title: Re: Carlisle Away Post by: Flashheart on Friday, September 14, 2012, 10:48:39 With Rome derbies and Old firm derbies, plus a few other rather heated occasions under his belt I love it how some clubs think PDC will be intimidated by their fans.
No disrespect to Carlisle but it's not exactly the fucking San Siro now is it? Title: Re: Carlisle Away Post by: Bob's Orange on Friday, September 14, 2012, 10:56:49 With Rome derbies and Old firm derbies, plus a few other rather heated occasions under his belt I love it how some clubs think PDC will be intimidated by their fans. No disrespect to Carlisle but it's not exactly the fucking San Siro now is it? More like the San Giro. Title: Re: Carlisle Away Post by: Flashheart on Friday, September 14, 2012, 11:09:30 Quote He had to be restrained by stewards from getting into the crowd at Deepdale the other week after receiving jip off their fans. Is this at all true? I would've thought that had it been true the press would have been all over it like flies on shit. Because we've seen not so much as a sausage on the matter I can't help but think it's complete bollocks. Title: Re: Carlisle Away Post by: horlock07 on Friday, September 14, 2012, 11:43:25 Is this at all true? Because we've seen not so much as a sausage on the matter I can't help but think it's complete bollocks. I recall that he got a bit wound up, but from memory this was in the technical area so unless he was taking a run up to get into the crowd I would suggest the above is not strictly correct! Title: Re: Carlisle Away Post by: horlock07 on Friday, September 14, 2012, 11:44:46 Same as above. I went to three away games last season, Cheltenham, Burton and Bradford. Well B&B and train is booked and Mrs H is going shopping whilst I endure the misery! You have all been warned. Title: Re: Carlisle Away Post by: Bob's Orange on Friday, September 14, 2012, 13:59:42 I'm going to a gay wedding at the Oxo tower instead.
Got my pink loafers ready! Title: Re: Carlisle Away Post by: Shaw Rosso on Friday, September 14, 2012, 14:01:09 Well B&B and train is booked and Mrs H is going shopping whilst I endure the misery! I shall thank you in advance for the wasted 520 mile round trip, cheers Title: Re: Carlisle Away Post by: Hitchinred on Friday, September 14, 2012, 15:57:32 I recall that he got a bit wound up, but from memory this was in the technical area so unless he was taking a run up to get into the crowd I would suggest the above is not strictly correct! I think that was when one of the bench went to fetch the ball in the stand and got it in the ear and gave some back. I think Paolo just joined in but certainly wasn't restrained. Title: Re: Carlisle Away Post by: donkey on Friday, September 14, 2012, 16:18:22 I'm going to a gay wedding at the Oxo tower instead. Got my pink loafers ready! The bar at the top sells dark Budvar. Enjoy! I went to PNE for a play off semi. Leeds players took loads of shit as they walked off between the two stands in the corner. They just laughed. Omerod snapped his leg that night and i sat behind Ian Dowie...luckily he never turned around. Title: Re: Carlisle Away Post by: Samdy Gray on Friday, September 14, 2012, 16:42:00 Omerod snapped his leg that night and i sat behind Ian Dowie...luckily he never turned around. It would've been like looking in a mirror. Title: Re: Carlisle Away Post by: reeves4england on Friday, September 14, 2012, 18:10:05 I was 50/50 whether to go to this. That thread from the Carlisle forum has made my mind up. If they think they're like Galatasaray, and that they can wind Di Canio up to the point of being sent off (nobody else has managed it have they?) then i want to be there to see it!!
Di Canio wasn't restrained by stewards at Preston - he gave some lip to a few Preston fans and was told to stop. As for all the stuff about 'fit and proper persons' tests for managers, bringin the game into disrepute, milking promotion etc, what a load of cobblers! Like many other L1 and L2 fans they moan about the amount of coverage PDC gets yet seem to ignore the majority of what he says and does. Title: Re: Carlisle Away Post by: Flashheart on Friday, September 14, 2012, 18:22:32 To be fair to them, after reading that thread back myself, I thing the whole Galatasary think was tongue in cheek.
Title: Re: Carlisle Away Post by: Notts red on Friday, September 14, 2012, 18:39:32 The bloke up the road from me, also a Swindon fan hitched up his caravan this morning and set off for Carlisle. Does this a lot for the furthest away games and makes a weekend of it coming back Sunday. fair play to him.
Edit: just don't get stuck behind him, bloody caravans ! Title: Re: Carlisle Away Post by: reeves4england on Friday, September 14, 2012, 19:15:31 To be fair to them, after reading that thread back myself, I thing the whole Galatasary think was tongue in cheek. You're probably right, but the whole tone of that thread is laughable really. Only one or two seem to have any sense of perspective. Title: Re: Carlisle Away Post by: suttonred on Saturday, September 15, 2012, 01:24:39 Gutted I cant go, been our last 3 visits. The Carlisle fans i've met on those trips have been some of the friendliest and knowledgeble i've known> I guess they are too sensible to type crap as per the above
Title: Re: Re: Re: Carlisle Away Post by: Only Me on Saturday, September 15, 2012, 04:42:03 Looking forward to this one. Closest thing to a home game for me (live in Edinburgh). It may have changed to a rugby ground now.Title: Re: Carlisle Away Post by: Batch on Saturday, September 15, 2012, 06:20:46 I'm going to a gay wedding at the Oxo tower instead. I did the slave traders 0-1 Shrewsbury 2-1 Macclesfield 2-0 Torquay 1-0 Aldershot 2-1 JPT 2-0 And you think you're unlucky/jinxed? Picked up this season though. Hartlepool 0-0 and hope to improve at Pompey |
