Not really suprised, nearer his home and he's gone to a big club. Dont really think he'll be a massive miss, showed some touches of real quality but never really got going as I had expected.
Would like to see Rooney get more of a chance to perform consistently next season, provided a lot of assists in the (relatively) few starts he had.

Would have liked to sign him, but not massively gutted or anything. Useful player, not make or break. Would take McEveley ahead of him from our loanees.

it would annoy me if we had offered a deal and he chosen them over use, other than that i'm not bothered

DiCanio publicly said he wanted him a few weeks ago.

Slight disappointment over this especially how Lee had publicly stated he wanted to be here and wanted to stay...although I was 'worried' by his distance in the championship celebrations against Vale. The rest of the team were celebrating but Holmes was by himself with his little lad....shame really, could have been a good player for us this upcoming season...won't lose any sleep as I believe it will give Rooney a massive chance...looks like we'll be in the market for another winger though!

No worries, we have a ready made replacement in Muamer Svraka.

Sums it up nicely.

I'm not really bothered either way. I prefer Rooney as well, so I suppose I'm more pleased than upset that he hasn't signed.

I don't think another winger is a huge priority. My only concern is around our transfer dealings generally; will other interested potential Town players also end up elsewhere instead of here?

Far too early to make assumptions like that, although it is the dead time before the internationals start so any scrap of news or speculation becomes a huge deal.

According to Hodgetts on RS this morning he was offered a considerably better deal at Preston than the one we offered.  Anyway, perhaps he didn't really fancy the pre-season regime that PDC will be forcing on the squad again this season.

Wouldn't have thought the training would be the case, as Westley is a well known slave driver. This was cited as one of the reasons why the Preston players didn't do well under him, and probabaly the reason why he's fired a lot of them out..sounds familiar.

One year it would be nice to do what Preston have done and have the squad together nice and early.

Usually though the later it is the better the player we sign, so wait and see.

That isn't the Swindon way though, is it?  (Take your point, but it is only May.)

Anyway, damn him!  Has he not heard of the 'PDC Effect'?
