Title: Message for 'Talk Talk'... Post by: OOH! SHAUN TAYLOR on Tuesday, July 26, 2005, 11:06:15 ...To the chappy with the 'Colours of Spring' avatar - Thanks for reminding me of a totally superb band.
Between '82 and '86 they released three of my all time favourite albums - The Party's Over It's My Life (Which I am listening to right now) The Colours of Spring It's funny to think that when they had their first hit, 'Today' they could have been classed by some as borderline New Romantic. But really they defied categorization and their subseqent albums became progressively esoteric .'Spirit of Eden' released in '88 was just a bit too impenetrable for me in fact and 'Laughing Stock' ('91) followed very similar lines. Those first three albums though - Absolute classics. My personal favourite tracks are as follows: Today Talk Talk Renee It's My Life Call In The Night Boy Does Caroline Know? Life's What You Make It Give It Up Chameleon Day 8) Title: Message for 'Talk Talk'... Post by: magicroundabout on Tuesday, July 26, 2005, 11:09:28 and here's me thinking he was a big brother fan :|

But most of their stuff does sound so dated. I used to like the Psycadelic Furs back at that time. Anyone remmember them? Title: Message for 'Talk Talk'... Post by: Mexicano Rojo on Tuesday, July 26, 2005, 16:56:38 my cousin was the drummer in talk talk 8)

Post by: sonicyouth on Tuesday, July 26, 2005, 19:43:11 Psychedelic Furs are quality, they get played on 6music all the time - top band.
Title: Message for 'Talk Talk'... Post by: Bedford Red on Tuesday, July 26, 2005, 19:52:43 I'll have to give 6 music a listen then.
I brought a digital radio a couple of months ago and hardly listen to it, any recommondations for any good shows on 6 music? Title: Message for 'Talk Talk'... Post by: Ben Wah Balls on Tuesday, July 26, 2005, 19:59:37 Steve Lurpak's got a show, that'll be worth a listen.
Title: Message for 'Talk Talk'... Post by: Bedford Red on Tuesday, July 26, 2005, 20:01:40 Will do.
Title: Message for 'Talk Talk'... Post by: sonicyouth on Tuesday, July 26, 2005, 20:22:57 Phil Jupitus at breakfast, Gideon Coe in the morning, Vic McGlynn in the afternoon and Steve Lamacq in the evening - quality.
Marc Riley has a good show at 10pm-12am on Sunday nights. Title: Message for 'Talk Talk'... Post by: Bedford Red on Tuesday, July 26, 2005, 20:26:17 I hadn't realised Steve Lamacq had gone to 6 music, will give him a listen as I liked his show on Radio 1.
Wasn't sure about Phil Jupitus, no reason really but will give him a try as well. The others will have to wait until I have some time off, work gets in the way of their shows. Title: Message for 'Talk Talk'... Post by: yeo on Tuesday, July 26, 2005, 20:41:05 I wish i was called Gideon or St John.
Title: Message for 'Talk Talk'... Post by: Ben Wah Balls on Tuesday, July 26, 2005, 20:49:47 Steve Lurpak and Steve Lamacq are the same person by the way, he still has a show on radio one on mondays.
Title: Message for 'Talk Talk'... Post by: Bedford Red on Tuesday, July 26, 2005, 20:55:39 I'd got that don't worry, getting too old for Radio 1 now, and I blame it all on Sara Cox. If anyone ever put me off anything more than she put me off Radio One the gobby shite, I can't think of it.
Title: Message for 'Talk Talk'... Post by: OOH! SHAUN TAYLOR on Tuesday, July 26, 2005, 21:05:36 I saw 'The Furs' live once. I used to love them. Pretty In Pink, Love My Way, Dumb Waiters, My Life Of Crime etc. Top notch.
Title: Message for 'Talk Talk'... Post by: OOH! SHAUN TAYLOR on Tuesday, July 26, 2005, 21:08:02 So your cousin is Lee Harris then Mexico???
Title: Message for 'Talk Talk'... Post by: Spencer_White on Tuesday, July 26, 2005, 22:42:56 Ive only got mirror moves on CD. All the others are on tape and are ruined and to be honest I dont really remmember them.
Although their stuff is dated it remains attractive (I rekon). Title: Re: Message for 'Talk Talk'... Post by: TalkTalk on Tuesday, July 26, 2005, 22:48:00 Quote from: "OOH! Don't know if you have visited it, but try http://users.cybercity.dk/~bcc11425/ I got into them when Talk Talk came out as a single. You're right about the early stuff, their management was trying to mould them into a Duran Duran mode, but Mark Hollis wasn't having any of that. I saw them at the Nurburgring in Germany about '86 as a support band to Simple Minds. They were brilliant. Yep, progressive, difficult to label, always a bit different. Loudest playing CDs in my car at the moment? "The Very Best of Talk Talk" plus the remixed LP which Hollis didn't approve of (but good length versions of the best tracks). My favourites? Talk Talk My Foolish Friend Life's What You Make It Living in Another World Its My Life Give It Up Bernadette Best ever LP was The Colour of Spring Way to go, well done that man :D Title: Message for 'Talk Talk'...
